No seriously, the creator decided to run to reddit after discussing the game on /v/ because people on reddit were blindly praising the game and parading the creator as some sort of god, while on /v/ people were giving constructive criticism.

After the game got big, he sold it to JAGEX which destroyed the game. He mentioned he regrets selling it.

Don't get the deluxe edition, just get the ultimate. It comes with all of the DLC and it's only $5. Absolutely worth it.
