Post times in your childhood where you got stuck in a game for hours with no internet to check out guides.
This room in Super Metroid. I had gotten so used to using the x-ray scope that I didn't think to just try walking through walls. I was stuck here for two weeks trying to figure out what to do after killing Ridley.

I've played this part about 3 times, and I always forget. I think last time I just left without it.
In this room, it took me fucking forever to figure out that you could slash the curtains. I was stuck for weeks.
Anyone else played this game? I bought it blind about a year ago and just recently got around to playing it and I've been pleasantly surprised.

Great game. Sadly, I lost my copy when I was moving years ago and never actually ended up getting it again.
Does it emulate well or am I better off just getting a second-hand copy on eBay?

Give it to me straight, boys. If I'm a JRPG fan but have never played a Persona game before, will I enjoy this title? What can I expect from this?
>>376081070
Yes, but it depends how much you'll buy into the social sim aspect to decide whether you'll love it or not
>dungeons aren't just random encounters, chance to ambush enemies or be ambushed
>11 types of damage with each enemy having different strengths and weaknesses
>requires actual management of HP and MP when playing hard or higher difficulty
>dungeons are great, varied in both puzzle design and layout
>Personas, your main means of attack, can be customized to fit your wants
The social sim ties into the dungeons by influencing how powerful your personas are. As your SL's upgrade, it gives you bonuses both in and out of dungeons and effects how strong your personas are when you make them. Overall it's a great game and you'll have a good time. beware the 2-6 hour before the actual beginning of the first dungeon though
>>376081563
That sounds interesting. I'd like to hear more about the social sim aspect though - I do enjoy social sims, so how much gametime does it cover relative to the dungeon/combat segments?
>>376081892
It's about 50:50 depending on how you approach each dungeon. The game works on a calendar system where you get two time slots: day and night. Doing an activity takes up a time slot, so exploring the dungeon or hanging out with a friend will use a time slot. For me, I try to clear the entire dungeon when I first get it because you only have a certain number of days to beat it before its game over, which takes 2 days or more if the dungeon is special. I've timed this to around 5-6 hours in total to clear a single dungeon. After a dungeon is done, you have a lot of social sim time and around average you'll have a new dungeon every month. Going through the month also takes around 5-6 hours. On the side there's another dungeon that grows as you play the game, it's mostly for sidequest, but it does add an extra hour or two to dungeoning if you go constantly
Whats a good JRPG on PS4 or that I can emulate or get off steam? I just finished persona 5 and I want something with more emphasis on combat but still good enough characters and story. I've never played JRPGs besides Persona 5.

You could try Final Fantasy XVIIII, i just finished it and really liked it. There's also SMT 7 if that's your thing.
>>376081023
Try SMT Nocturne (ps2) of you like dark atmosphere

Curretly sould level 54 after 13 hours in this game, currently going for a skill build. I am entirely out of blood vials and quicksilver bullets after attempting this fight 8+ times. I see no possible way to beat him, he damn near 2 shots me, fast as fuck, and has a full health heal. Am I just a casual?
>>376080371
No he's the most unfair NPC in the game.
You can cheese him if you pull him to the entrance of the Cathedral. The AI forces him to walk back slowly once he reaches a certain point. You can get a few hits in when he's walking away.
