I loved it as a kid because it was Final Fantasy but really fast-paced and fun.

But none of the games - NONE of them - have good ARPG combat. Anything above Normal and you'll deal with the worst jank. Horrible mechanics for guarding and dodging. And the story is just fucking stupid.

2.8 was pretty good though, if only because the Guard/Dodge actually work OK now.

I honestly don't know what they can do to get people back to their platform. They've kind of ruined their 2 better IPs in Halo and Gears of War and don't really have anything else that looks interesting.

Not even close. Psi-Ops lets you fling bodies around the way the upgraded gravity gun in the endgame does, but throughout the entire game and while interacting with other objects.

In HL2 you couldn't do that.

Because anything good in Far Cry 3 was an accident. People thought that Jason might turn out to be an interesting character too, and that the writers wanted you to hate him and his douchebag friends at the start, yet they actually genuinely wanted you to sympathise with these asshole rich kids.
