Was this any good? I don't plan on playing it but I feel it's relevant as Death Stranding doesn't sound or look like a military stealth-shooter, and I'm curious if Kojima's a one-trick pony, or if he can succeed at doing things other than third-person gear-based stealth shooting.
Not that there's anything wrong with that as I love the MGS series, but I have my concerns.
>>376778579
Kojima had nothing to do with this game.
>>376778579
Kojima was officially an "advising director" or something on MGR but most people agree that he didn't have anything to do with it. It's a great action game but it's a dumb Metal Gear game.
pro tip: people who made this is one trick pony
Damn nigga...

Why is everyone suddenly memeing about NuckleDu?
>>376778452
He got his ass handed to him twice today and kicked out of eleague...on his birthday
>>376778513
That sounds terrible out of context because my context right now is
>people are shitting on Nuckledu and making fun of his past suicide attempt because he lost today so people are memeing and saying he is going to kill himself
Just finished Super Mario Galaxy 2. What is the general consensus on it. I didn't think it was quite as good as 1.
>>376777760
The gameplay/level design of 2 is objectively better than 1. The only thing 2 lacks is cute space waifu plot and hub world, but nonetheless, they are both great games.
Better designed but not as memorable.
>>376778019
The Bowser boss battles didn't feel as and I know it's a buzzword but as epic as the first one.
There is nothing inherently wrong with this game. It really shows that it was made by people with decades of experience in the industry.
The jontron thing i don't give a damn about really as no one should, although i'm largely on his side but it's their right to do with their product what they want. The “voice acting“ is just a bunch of bizarre mumbles and moans anyway.
Plus the gameworld is a lot bigger than i thought, with a good feeling of exploration to it. I think it's played best with the music turned off though, too cutesy/corny for my tastes.
So, anyone else here enjoy it for what it is?
>>376791001
It feels too damn big. It doesn't feel coherent and sometimes it doesn't feel fun.
Yeah I have a shit way of describing my experience so I'll give you my meme score
A 4/7 game.
It's okay. Not amazing, but not terrible. Dumping Jontron was still dumb, though
It's a 8/10 for me atleast.
On my 2nd playthrough and knowing what to do and the level layout makes it much better and fun to play.
/v/ plays vidya with your significant other, right?

Can we talk about edgy equipment in videogames that actually has in-game explanations for their edgyness?
One example is that of Skyrim's Daedric Armor, at first glance one may just think that It's just edgy because it's based around the Tamrielic equivalent of demons, but the shape of the armor is explained trough lore, it being that the heart you use to craft each piece of armor is a living part of a daedra, and while one part is still intact, a daedra will "regenerate", by throwing one around in melted ebony, the blacksmith that creates the armor is essentially forcing a daedra to try to reconstruct itself inside of boiling hot ebony, with such process being extremely painful, the daedra contorts itself in pain, giving the uneven, edgy look that the armor has.

gay thread
>>376777180
Except for that is a wrong explanation for how Daedric "regeneration" or Daedric smithing works.
Daedra do not literally regenerate like Wolverine, they are unbound Ada without mortality, so when their corporeal shell is destroyed their Animus (basically a soul) returns to the waters of Oblivion where a new corporeal shape is formed around it. Their form is very much a materialization of their concept/idea behind their true Adic (spiritual) self.
Daedric smithing is not forcing the Daedra to regenerate into this shape, it's something a lot more sinister. Ebony is blood of Lorkhan turned into a material/metal, it is very magical in nature and is one of the elements that can bind itself to souls and contain them, even larger souls and essences of spirits. What you do when you do Daedric Smithing is you beat the living shit out of the very essence of a Daedra into submission, force it's very Animus to enter the ebony and then you seal it inside for ever, binding it to armor and essentially making the armor it's new body...the only difference is that the Animus of a Daedra will for ever be in pain and suffering, echoes that you can sometimes hear if you listen closely to the gear they say.
This is even worse than Soul trapping, because when you soul trap only magicka storing body of the soul is bound to the item while rest of the soul is sent to whatever realm was bound to the gem, the soul will be incomplete/weak and will be trapped for ever in said realm unless released by it's master...but at least they are freeish in one plane of existence. Daedric Smithing traps a Daedras soul in the armor for ever without any chance of freedom and it keeps it in constant pain.

Battletanx was my shit.
Friends and I would play it all damn afternoon after school.
When I was a kid and my imagination would run wild, I'd make up Red Alert scenarios in my head and play them out in Battletanx too.
what was your favorite sly game?
I only played 2 and the only thing i remember is the disco stage and the guy saying FUNKY everytime.
never played 1 or 4
2 was the best, 3 was alright and had good levels but it had too many gimmicks for its own good

Serious question is SMT the greatest JRPG franchise of all time?
I know it's just my personally opinion but I think it is.
Having trouble thinking of others that engross me as much.
If not then what is?

SMT was pretty good. Too bad it was ruined by Atlus chasing Persona's success.
What games let me play as a pretty Japanese girl with a katana?
She is perfect, more cute girls should have hime cut in a ponytail.
Senran Kagura has Ikaruga who I think is the most fun to play.

Can we even call this a sequel?
Is an alternate universe.
>>376775447
What a relief, zero doesn't even resemble his X series counterpart, specially personality-wise
>>376775403
>>376775840
It's a direct sequel. Zero swaps out of his original body at some point, whichis the boss of Zero 3 or 4, I don't remember which.
I’ll never understand the worship of this game.
And I’ll never understand the vociferous (and quite angry) people who leap maniacally to the defence of VTM: Bloodlines, KOTOR 2 and New Vegas. I have played them all and they are ambitious failures at best. You can see the vision behind the project but you can also see that they never quite realised their goals. I suspect that the people who made the games would freely admit this, if asked.
But there is the sect – and I use the word because it is almost religious, blindly faithful – sect or cult of people who will fight tooth and nail to convince you that these games are the zenith of RPG entertainment. They will turn a blind eye to every flaw and a deaf ear to every criticism.
If you criticise then it’s because YOU are failing in some way. You’re not playing it right. You didn’t understand their special favourite game in the way it’s supposed to be understood. Not according to the rulebook that some neckbeard made up in his head.
Of course, there’s a lot of slavish fanboyism involved here. You can bet your arse that if Chris Avellone had a writing credit on Skyrim, they would be bending over backwards to defend that too. “Yeah you can really see Chris trying his best to influence the writing but Bethesda kept him on a tight leash.” Or something to that effect – the sort of shit these people always say.
How about we just admit that these games aren’t very good? Even with the “restored content” and fixes, you are dealing with a fairly crappy product. An idea, a nice idea that was never fully developed.
>>376775312
>VTM: Bloodlines, KOTOR 2 and New Vegas
I love these but you don't have to like them either. I respect your opinion
Just so we're good Avellone had nothing to do with VTM:B's story and wrote the worst parts of NV but different strokes my man.
Tremere best clan
I like VtmB, don't know who Avellone is. With the patches, it's a good RPG. VtmB in particular gets leeway for not realizing goals because it was rushed. This affects everything from gamebreaking bugs to how social characters get fucked in the later parts of the game (later levels are developed later, just an odd historic quirk of game design in general). The "what could have been", and the lack of related content, unlike Star Wars and Fallout, makes it the odd one out in my opinion, and exactly where you'd expect to find a cult following, on a 3x multiplier for vampires.
Kotor is in my backlog. New Vegas is ok, I agree it's not a pinnacle of anything.
By the way, VtmB has an 89 and New Vegas an 86 on Metacritic. I can sympathize with both. "The sect" may just be an annoying fringe. In the interests of discussion, what do you think are better WRPGs?
