There's the Citrus and NTR anime and YH going monthly. Not sure what they were even trying to do, but Mooks released the Introduction to the World of Yuri a while back. There's also that pregnant yuri magazine, albeit a very small publication with only three or so stories each. Food sisters got serialized by Dengeki Daioh (a shounen magazine) soon after Bloom Into You did and now there's Eclair by ASCII Media Works, who's mostly only ever published shounen manga and LNs.

I might be just a little overly optimistic, but even just a small change to better the popularity of yuri works will be fine with me.

Please, Touko wouldn't let anyone else kiss her and anyway you know Yuu would protect those lips. I don't see it happening. It would be creepy for the lover to force a kiss on the amnesiac who doesn't know them and the friend who wrote the script wouldn't do that. Even if it does the closest thing I can see happening is an almost-kiss fade to black scene with someone else and in that moment Touko and Yuu's eyes would lock and Sayaka would instantly know what was up.

That's not even considering how much of a faux pas PDA would be in a school play. These are the most proper ojou-samas in the school known for their unimpeachable poise. They wouldn't consider it.

I don't need to reread the series to know that this is the most logical narrative choice at the moment. Touko is the president of the student council, she's probably the one who would decide who plays who and she would obviosly not choose one of the guys to play the lover. Since she's trying to distance herself from Yuu at the moment due to the fear of losing her, she won't choose her either, that leaves us with Sayaka as the only other choice. She trusts her and she was the only one who supported the play from the beginning.

Now you're just reaching. Obviously everyone here would prefer yuri development over anything het, but people want to see the characters carry the story, not dragged along by the plot (at least I do). The fact of the matter is that Nakatani tried to make the setting as most resembling the real world as possible. No one in their right mind would have a girl explicitly playing lover to another girl, especially when this is Japan. Anime and manga can get away with it because they're fictional, but to our characters, this is a live action play presented in front of the entire school and anyone who attends. You've already seen how scared Yuu was when she thought Maki would tell on them. I'd already mentioned being okay with it if one of the girls played a male lover, but I'd be alright with Sayaka playing the friend and Yuu playing the family member too. Who knows what interesting things Koyomi's script has in store for us.

No. She likes depicting things exactly how it is. Her interpretation of Touhou is based on logic, avoid any possible contradiction with canon. Yukari has many relationships at once, while at the same time made it clear that Reimu is the main mistress, at least until the miko dies.

Reading Nakatani's works as "open ends" just proves you either have reading comprehension issues, not entirely familiar with Touhou, or has a weird definition of "open end." At any rate, Yagakimi will end with a concrete answer, not some pretentious vague ending to avoid pissing off some stupid people.
