i didn't watch umineko (yet) so tell me about those two /u/.

They're not even visual novels, they're kinetic novels. You play them the same way you would play an audiobook with pictures.

The anime even censored the ending slightly when it comes to yuri. In the VN, they pretty much made out at the end of vol4.

Do yourself a favor and avoid the anime, at least until you have experienced the VN or manga. Preferably the VN.

Though reading Umineko because it has a tiny bit of yuri in it would be like reading Higurashi because you heard it had a water gun fight in it.

Lambdadelta and Bernkastel are blatantly gay for eachother, they just show it in... rather odd ways, and are minor characters until you hit the middle of the story, right where the anime ends. There is also one other couple that has some /u/ implications in Umineko, pic related, but not enough to be certain. Well there is also some really suggestive stuff between Bernkastel and Erika, which I assume is due to Bern's narcissism.

In any case Umineko is extremely worth experiencing, just not for the yuri. Personally it is one of my top 3 favorite things and I have had half the music from it in my playlist for years. I still play the indie fighting game every now and then, which is what the OP pic is from as it is the CG at the end of the Bernkastel/Lambdadelta route.

There is also a manga coming out in soon (or already out?) featuring a game of Bernkastel vs Lambdadelta, but I don't know much about it. There is a possibility that it will become a VN in the future:

I believe the author originally called them audio novels, due to the focus on music for setting the atmosphere and I assume due to the poor quality of the original artwork, though there were no voiced lines until the PS3 version. Kinetic novels are still VNs though, and there is some minor interactivity in the last chapter as well as a single decision to determine the ending.

It is also worth pointing out that these threads usually become very full of spoilers very quickly, so if anyone here is interested in this you should probably get to it before someone starts discussing spoiler-y things.

Lambda and Bern are fantastic, but don't expect them to be a traditional couple. They genuinely love each other and the game makes that clear, but they often express it through sadism because they're cruel 1000 year old witches.

It's probably my favorite yuri of all time, though, because it's really well-written, interesting, and unique.

Yeah, any hope for it becoming a VN is simply due to Higanbana starting as a manga and becoming a VN later. Well, and that previous When They Cry stuff is mostly known for being VN.

There is a thing called Hinamizawa Bus Stop, which is a stage play and also the prototype of Higurashi. There is a manga version and a VN version, in both of them Mion has a crush on Rika, the manga shows it better, but there are scans of likeonly 3 chapters.
