Well, it does, but it's an utterly miniscule amount since it's set in a non-Rebellion future and as far as I'm aware the author wasn't interested in making Madoka or Sayaka come back to life. I dunno, it's been ages since I read it. It's an interesting read but it doesn't feel like a Madoka fic.

On the subject on fics I haven't read in ages, it's a Christmas miracle and A Happy Dream updated. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6897900/15/A-Happy-Dream But again, I don't know. It doesn't feel as good as it used to when I was younger. Guess my tastes refined a bit?

Damn, not wanting to be a pessimist but we even getting to see the original concept movie that soon was a major stroke of luck that may well not happen again. That seems like big stuff that we may have to suffer without seeing it for ourselves for a longer while.

Come to think of it, if I'm not misremembering stuff there supposedly was stuff like Gretchen and a shot of Sayaka's soul gem going dark that didn't actually happen on the one recording we got. The first may even be the nips mistaking it for the giant Charlotte look alike that Mami was standing on, but the latter is too specific for that unless, again, I am getting it mixed up. Could it be that there already were more versions we did not know of?

On a metaphysical level, sure, I loved the ending. But Rebellion only expands on it and delivers a reply that interacts with the original in a cool way, that makes you think.

On a more emotional level, fuck that. I sure didn't hold the ending dear. Homura and Kyouko fought and fought and never got shit. They ended up alone, unable to move on from what they lost. But what, having a life that amounts to jack shit is supposed to be okay because there are free hugs in the afterlife? That's a story I just can't relate to. I honestly believe Madoka would let the world burn if it meant never reuniting with Homura again. At the time, becoming god made sense, but there was no way she could understand the ramifications of her wish. She's 13 years old. When Homura asks Madoka if she would follow her heart, it was such vague and weird question that a mind wiped Madoka had no other way to respond. Madoka broke the universe once already because she thought the rules werent fair.

I meant if they become a concept together, Homura wouldnt care if they had to fight witches for eternity. She is already willing to suffer for eternity for Madoka. But together, they can support each other and relieve each others burden. They would be able to fulfill both wishes, Madoka the savior and Homura the protector.

The real wild card is Madoka's theoretical 2nd wish in Homuverse.

Did a bit of lurking. It looks like they only showed the Type B video on the 22nd. Probably to prevent another leak. People who saw it the video on the 23rd said it was the same as Tokyo's video. Id love it if anyone can confirm or deny. It's just an educated guess on my part. Considering those extra scenes...

We might see a type C in Feb. The last day of Madogatari is on Valentines Day, so maybe some sort of annoucement.

I know someone on facebook who saw it on the 24th and she sketched some of the new scenes. She drew a scene in which Mami and Sayaka were fighting together, and on where Sayaka and Homura were in a dungeon-like scene. She also said that the background of Ballet Madoka was different and that the flashes of Inu Curry's art were replaced by a storyboard. There are possibly new characters, but she may be referring to those "fairies" near the end of the original concept movie (just a guess that's what she means, I didn't see the second version.) She said that the scenes went by so fast that it was hard to see, but she is going to see the concept film again tomorrow on Christmas. Lucky her...

Based on the fairy thing, I think those may be the witches from the series in MG form. They resembled some of the girls from Magia. Theyre up against 14, possible 15, magical girl level Clara dolls and countless familiars. Theyd need back up.

They really aren't much, but I'm sure she'll post more or update them later on. From what I saw in the original concept movie, I'm thinking that the "fairies" Madoka mentioned are the Clara Dolls that are in a more human/magical girl/less creepy form. Either that, or they are the human-forms of the witches. (Now that I think about it, it would make more sense that they would be the human forms of old witches such as Gertrud that would aid in fighting the Clara Dolls.)

"Summary of replaced scenes in Type-B that I can remember:

- Madoka looking something through a hole. Behind her, there's a shadow that third of its face is covered by a white mask on the right side. The view from the hole.

I was reading an old interview with Urobuchi. While Shinbo used the words confront each other as enemies, Urobuchi used the phrase equal opposites. Duality and balance have always been a big part of the franchise. We have always seen hope and despair, cynicism and idealism, and now selflessness and selfishness in conclict. With Madoka and Homura confronting each other as equal opponents, we have a chance to see them realize that they can spend eternity fighting (as they philosophically have throughout the series) or they can unite and form something greater than they could by themselves. We have always seen the opposing forces in the series zero out, but now we have the chance for opposing forces to work in synergy. Madoka warned Homura to not go off by herself in Rebellion, yet Madoka effectively went off by herself when she decided to take the burden of the universe on herself.

I expect it to be a very rocky road and more than a few twists to that point, but there would really be no other reason to pit Homura and Madoka against each other thematically.

The updated concept movie showed two scenes with Sayaka and Homura implying some sort of team-up, right?

My hope is the first half of the sequel is the two of them forming a shaky alliance, where Sayaka begrudgingly considers letting Homura stay with Madoka.

Then some sort of major fuck-up happens as a result of Homura's new world (like Mami or Hitomi dying), causing Sayaka to take action against her.

I'm in love with the idea of Sayaka playing the protective best friend/parent as a contrast to Homura. Any dynamic between the two of them is solid gold at this point, so I hope it gets explored.

Agreed, but that's way more a result of the plot density of the series and movie, not a recurring element of Urobuchi's writing. Phantom and Zero had plenty of good filler scenes and characters bouncing off each other.

One of the things you can absolutely expect to see in the sequel is the realization that Homura is not in as control as you (or she) may think she is.

I thought the ending of Rebellion already made it pretty clear she's not as in control as she wants to be.

It would be a nice callback to the Sayaka/Kyouko fight where Kyubey said "only another Magical Girl can stop this fight", and would also showcase the claim about how Madoka would be more active in the sequel.

Homura's canon mas sub. I agree with the statement on Madoka's part in the relationship.
I need to be convinced beyond a subtextual level that Madoka loves Homura. I know she does, but I need for her to prove it to me as a viewer. She cant just say "You're my waifu now Homu." I was willing to believe Homura loved Madoka as early as episode 8 during her breakdown. I have yet to see anything concrete from Madoka beyond symbolism, undertones, and official art.

On a general note for a Sayaka-Homura conflict centric seuqel:

I know people want a build up to a HomuSaya death match, but to me its pointless. Homura and Sayaka have always hated each other. Its a complete rehash of the series. Sayaka being incapable of understanding that Homura might not be evil and Homura being incapable of treating Sayaka as anything more than a child like nuisance is literally episode 1-8, a smidgen of episode 10, and the end of Rebellion. It's been done to death and I hope they don't waste a lot of time on it.

Homura is canon overwhelmingly dom, anyone with an ounce of sub would never have survived the endless time loop hell, let alone repeatedly overcoming despair and getting stronger. It's like her thing to never submit. In a way the movie revealed the potential that many already saw in her.

I guess you could put it that way too, but I meant more in general. She let Kyuubes do anything, she left Homura to the worst possible fate. Homura, Madoka's best friend, the champion of the goddess, became the devil on Madoka's watch! Is that the world Madoka wanted? Madoka is incompetent and almost useless as a goddess, at least in the movie canon. In the anime canon, she's still alright. Even if she may cause Homura untold despair (corrupted wings in the anime epilogue?), her wish still eliminated witches and she's probably watching over Homura. Homura herself says she would never forget what Madoka did, that she would always keep fighting to protect Madoka's new world. I can't argue much with that, only cheer her on.

In her defense, she probably just can't offer much. Maybe she doesn't or can't know the same feelings, and she doesn't want to be dishonest. Even if she feels extremely indebted towards Homura and would do anything for her, she probably can't abandon being a goddess. At the same time, she's always seemed to depend on Homura to keep fighting.

Mostly agree, pitting the weakest puella against a god-like being is pointless. I guess fans just like to see them fight. Ironically, under Homura's rule, Sayaka gets her wish and doesn't have to despair.

I think Rebellion just made clear Kyubey is a complete asshole and an enemy to humanity/magical girls no matter what he claims to be doing for the universe.

On the Homura note, we never saw the extent of that suffering until Rebellion, so I'm willing to write it off. Rebellion showed she completely lost her purpose for living, but there was no reason to believe she didn't just despair because she was having really shitty day before we learned that.

There's almost no blow back on that wish series wish except the obvious loss of Madoka.

My greatest plausible fear for the next project. Dont trigger me this early anon. But I agree with the statement. You can"t ask Madoka to gie up her wish to be a god because, obvious side problems aside, it wouldn't be any different than telling Homura to just give up on Madoka.

So let's say by the off chance that we get a total perfect happy ending for MadoHomu. They get to rule over the universe as goddesses and they get to hang out together when not doing goddess things in the same way Sayaka and Octavia or Nagisa and Charlotte do in the Law of Cycles. They even get into arguments over eggs and shit. They not only love each other, they even kissu to make it official while wearing the white dress and funeral dress.

Let's say we get that ending.

What about everyone else? Does Sayaka end up having to leave Kyoko again? Do they never get to have their thing? I know MadoHomu has way more time and suffering invested in it than the others, but KyoSaya and to a lesser extent MamiNagi are still a thing.

Excluding the eggs and kiss, yes? The show is dark, but really not that dark. I think by far the most awful thing to ever happen on screen was Kyoko's dad killing her family. Everyone else had their worst ends altered at the end of the series and Homura's new world full on negated the bad ends despite setting her up as the antagonist.

The story line of Kazumi Magica was difficult to follow at times, but overall it's pretty good and worth a read. The magical girls from Kazumi are cool but they aren't nearly as unique as the magical girls from Madoka Magica are and there's not as much to them. They have cool outfits, though.

I totally love Maitake's Sayaka. She's portrayed as trying to protect Madoka from Homura (but really, we all know that it's Homura who needs to be protected from Maitake's Madoka). In the end, they are all pretty chummy; gives me warm, fuzzy feelings.
