Who watching this? Is it playing in your city?
It's a 45 min drive to get to a town with a movie theatre, and I'm not sure they're even playing it.
At least it doesn't look as painful as Freeheld, the movie that makes Julianne Moore look like a pedophile.
Far From Heaven is a great film, but make sure you're at least a little familiar with Douglas Sirk, the great leftist 50's melodrama director, before watching. Haynes is essentially paying homage to him, particularly to All That Heaven Allows.
It starts in December here and I don't know if my theater is gonna pick it up but I probably wait for a home release I can order off from Amazon. That' an awkward as hell ticket to buy, even if it already won awards, including one from my country
>That' an awkward as hell ticket to buy
Why? As you say, it's an acclaimed film that will almost certainly be nominated for at least a few Oscars. No one will think you're a lesbian or a pervert for going to see it.
Didn't the director take 4 days for that scene because it had to be perfect and everyone was super awkward about that? How do film that for 4 days obsessively and still make it look funny
ignore them, sis. they're still salty they didn't get their will when /aco/ was first introduced.
though I'd say making an extra thread for just this one movie might've been a bit silly. probably better to just make general movie thread next time.
Thai premier 11th of Feb 2017.
I think I can wait that long, I have been waiting since the original cast, change of cast, and biting my nails when the possibility of it getting shelved was discussed.
Holy shit yeah that movie was so awful and yet its always talked about like its the definitive lesbian movie... the one brunette girl doesn't close her mouth even once during the film.
If this is the live action thread, i should inform that Jessica Jones is pretty gay, like gayer than anything Marvel has even put on screen.
I guess Netflix just doesn't give a shit, and thats great.
>All images from western cartoons must be banned!
I completely agree.
>The lesbian content comes from Carrie Ann Moss character who is gay and married to another woman, and leaving her for another woman.
Whose original comic version was a man by the way.
Well then it'd be fine I guess.
Both sides have a point.
It's not like the threads are doing any damage but then again there's better places for them.
Like this thread, why is there a single thread for one western movie, make a general or something.
No, well not in romance department. I suppose it could be viewed as such but it's more disney focused. It's decent a show if you don't have any sort of expectations.
They have Frankenstein but he's more of a background character
It's very meh. Contains a lot of idiocy, with nonsensical stories, shitty characters, and plot points dropped and picked up when it's convenient. If you want /u/ probably not, though I hear that's about to change.
The spin off (Wonderland) was alright, but that's about it.
Don't know about you but in my book revamping a male character into female character is a step in the right direction. You know, because girls characters are much better than boys.
It depends on the execution though and I'm not holding my breath. Baby steps I guess.
Well revamping said character into a woman that cheats on her wife and leaves her for a much younger secretary isn't exactly the best way to revamp the character I think.
Besides I'm honestly not that interested in a lesbian side-dish in shows these days. Either's it's the main character or bust.
Not that anon, but at some point subtext and side-couples just get tiresome. It's fine if you're watching a show for its plot, but not when you're specifically interested in lesbians.
Not really. Malcom, Trish, Cage even Jessica all want to do the right thing. Hoggarth is a dirtbag who is only trying further her own gains and risks peoples life for petty things such as fucking over her ex
faking it died in season 2. The first season was mediocre at best, even if some scenes were decent, but by season 2 you could tell the writers had no idea what the fuck they were doing. Shame because that blond chick is actually a pretty good actress.
I haven't watched the second season but in the first one the story focuses more on the stupid shenanigans of their kids, especially that absolutely unbearable het romance plot.
>tldr: It sucks donkey dick
I haven't watch Grey's for a long time. And the reason I've stopped watching it is because of Calzona. I love Arizona but I can't stand Callie. I think Arizona is better off with another woman.
But like >>1918742 said, theres nothing wrong with that.
Are you from Tumblr or something?
Why do you need every fucking dyke character to be perfect?
At least she is not just 'the lesbian side-character that doesn't matters one bit for the story and is put in it because: progressive points' like 80% of the lesbian characters on these shows.
>Theres actually nothing wrong with that...i mean everybody is sort of a fuckhead on that show.
I'm still wondering how they are going to make her interesting for a second season, since they pretty much dealt with the one notable thing she did in the comics on her own already. Well aside from being Cage's baby mama, which was the other thing.
And I guess being the bestie of Carol Danvers, but that's obviously not gonna happen in the MCU.
I'm going to see this film in the hopes that it will finally tell me if I'm actually gay or not. I'm hard gay for 2d but I've never gone any farther than merely thinking a girl is pretty when it comes to 3d. I could just watch lesbian porn but I have an aversion to that in general.
>That's because lesbian porn is shit
Even worse is when it starts kinda okay but then the cameraman decides to jump into action. I mean, I wouldn't mind if it was a camerawoman, but this shit comes up when searching for lesbian specifically.
>I'm hard gay for 2d but I've never gone any farther than merely thinking a girl is pretty when it comes to 3d
There's a distinction?
>basing your sexual orientation on a flick
Are you a teen? You know 4chan is 18+ right? Also,it's not really that hard to know if you're gay or not.do you find men hot? Have you had feelings for one? Which one of these two things can you see yourself doing, sucking dick or eating pussy? If you find the thought of going down on a woman repulsive, but you find dicks erotic and wouldn't be opposed to get in contact with one, congratulations, you're a hetfag. If you find vaginas more appealing and wouldn't mind seeing one face to face, you're a lesbian. If you like pussies and dicks then you're bi.
Meh, I just stick with the six minute videos plus I tend to give the girls lesbian backstories in my head especially if one looks kinda nerdy and the other either has a punk thing or a badgirl thing going on.
GREAT NEWS EVERYONE Transit Girls English Sub is out episode 1. Pink Play is English Sub. Blue Play is Raw.
This is, like, the single least embarrassing Yuri product you could possibly buy. Go out an buy Kisses, Sighs, and Cherry Blossom Pink at a B&N if you need training in resisting the urge to cringe. Practice in front of a mirror, SOMETHING, because you should not let the chance to see this in theaters pass.
That depends, I mean artist draw strangers all the time and people usually. Unless you are like unhygenic and weird nobody gives a shit
That show is so ridiculous over the top though. That Yui girl has like one or two expressions, like fuck she looks like a kicked puppy 85% if the time its hilarious
Only on TV, though. Someone, I don't remember where, claimed that the "bad acting" was something they were asked to do. Just like the cringe worthy acting in daytime soap operas/telenovelas.
Well, you see the difference in movies. The acting in Japanese movies in on par with everywhere else. Expectations and traditions could be playing a role there, but I don't really know. I'm just parroting something someone else told me before.
But Muh individuality!! Even though is probably a theme that some idiot designed ans is used by lots of other people.
Anyway, the super-special-snowflake at tumblr wont be subbing it anymore. We will have to wait for the one doing it at J-Drama.
Well, I don't really follow the show. It's one of those things that are absurdly popular but that are totally uninteresting to me. If eel the same about Orange is the New Black or The Walking Dead too.
Exactly what I was talking about. But then again, they do have a tendency to pull shit out of their asses when it's either convenient for them, or they can inflate the plot with yet another dark curse or what have you.
Is there a camrip of this movie yet?
I really have to disagree with this, 90% of the show is focussed on awful, annoying, downright-painful-to-watch characters and the 10% that actually deals with the characters you're interested in is also full of retarded shit.
Also the entire show tries to be as ugly and gross as possible for seemingly no other reason than it can, it's almost like some kind of nihilistic propaganda or something. I couldn't even force myself to finish the latest season to be honest.
I didn't watch it yet but you can read her life story and find out what the movie might be about. It doesn't look like any dealbreakers will happen in the movie, no
het, rape, or arranged marriagethat I can find on wiki at least. Looks like it could be good depending on how much of her life it adapts and what tone it takes.
Honestly, after reading that, doesn't seem like much evidence she was actually a lesbian. We miscontrue so many things as evidence of sexual lust these days because modernity has broken our culture so completely from the past that we're incapable of understanding it anymore. If you went by fashionable modern scholarship half the significant figures of the past were closeted LGBT.
>>The 100 lesbians
>>Not even once
Nah, that's complete fiction... Society used to actually be religious you know. It's true there was a degree of ritualized pederasty in ancient Greek and even Roman society, but even then homosexuality was not exactly approved of, and people who didn't take wives/husbands and rear children were considered scum. I suppose you could say that as long as you married and produced heirs homosexual affairs were tolerated.
Post Christianity though? Absolutely not. But at the same time homosexuality was not something that people were constantly on the lookout for, or even particularly conscious of. Two people of the same sex living together would not have caused people's minds to jump to homosexuality, for example. Records of passionate friendships between people of the same sex in the past often read like homosexuality to the hyper-attuned, hyper-sexualized brains of moderns, though, hence how Frodo and Sam's relationship became material for every hack comedian. I really think one of the worst things about the modern world is how true friendship has become so much meaner and rarer than it used to be, because passion has come to be seen as synonymous with the sexual.
That's obviously not to say that homosexual behavior didn't exist, Tchaikovsky for one certainly had several homosexual affairs and felt enormously guilty about it. But I am very suspicious of any modern attempt to assign LGBT identity to historical figures, it seems very much like a case of gazing into the pond and seeing only our own reflection.
This is a gigantic mess waiting to happen.
Theres literally no way is going to end up ok.
I'm going to assume you mean CW, the Vampire Diaries has an adventage over The 100, the lesbians aren't main characters and the show is know for focusing on the villians and sweep their murder sprees under the rug every fucking time.
That's a pretty extensive and informative. Thank you, onee-sama.
The thing about friendship is that people stopped using the words correctly. Acquaintance became friend, friend became lover and lover became soul mate or something.
>Also the entire show tries to be as ugly and gross as possible for seemingly no other reason than it can, it's almost like some kind of nihilistic propaganda or something. I couldn't even force myself to finish the latest season to be honest.
You're talking about the L Word, right?
OINB got 100% better when Piper stopped being the focus. Ruby Rose was forced and boring as fuck, but if you skip over her parts it's not bad.
No, its more of a mix between irl factors like one of the actresses being now on a big show and movies and the feeling that is imposible for a main character of a non-lesbian show to end up with a female instead of a male.
Even if the reaction of the crew and cast being asked about getting Clarke together with Bellamy is mostly negative.
At the same time, people in same-sex relationships in repressive places today often try to make their relationships appear as friendships, so it's just reasonable to assume it has happened previously. I don't think there's anything wrong with considering the possibility that a historical figure was gay, as long as you're willing to accept that in most cases, we can't know.
As for same-sex relations under Christianity, it apparently took a while for them to become truly taboo. They were completely legal in most of Europe until the 13th century. You also have people like St. Anselm (who some think was gay based on his letters, hoohoo) arguing that it was essentially a small sin.
Also the entire show tries to be as ugly and gross as possible for seemingly no other reason than it can, it's almost like some kind of nihilistic propaganda or something.
The show that makes prison look like a summer camp?
I always half-jokingly say "if you aren't a little gay for your best friend, then that's not your best friend"
This is a perfect example of any passion being viewed as sexual by this modern society.
Dear diary, today anon made me look inwardly at myself. And on /u/ of all places
>homosexuality to the hyper-attuned, hyper-sexualized brains of moderns
Does this has any connection to how there's too much 'shipping' of people of the same sex in the media, be it, real people, fictional characters, etc. ?
If only they didn't stab their couple in the heart as soon as it was established.
I mean it was a great surprise to begin with but I shouldn't've expected anything less considering the premise.
Well, the actress who played Shaw had to leave the show due to pregnancy so it's understandable. But damn did her exit from the show lead to one of the best episodes of the show and created such a fantastic character arc for her other half and not once in every other episode
since her "death"did the show forget to remind the viewers of Shaw's absence. Not fucking once. This show is a great example at how to do right with character deaths. Spoilers for the 5th season Shaw is returning as a regular for 8/13 episides (I think). During the SDCC panel this year, it's been heavily alluded by the actresses that their characters are gonna have sex. On screen. Rough sex, to be more accurate. That on the topic of their characters' feelings for one another, it's most definitely love on Root's part and as close to love as it can get for Shaw. They're as canon as a couple can get and some more.I'm going to be sad when this show ends, never have I seen a pairing so loved by its cast and crew, also, a big fuck you to CBS.
Not completely caught up so you might wanna go do that.
That I knew about and I'm with you about how it's handled. Man I can't wait for the fifth season, going to hopefully be real good.
I did not know that, well the rough possibly angry sex, and oh my goodness, that will probably make it the greatest show of all time if they get away with it. I knew that Root definitely loved her and Sameen is as close to loving Root as she can get.
Also it's tearing me apart that there's no word yet on when it's going to air though it's nice to know she'll be returning for a good majority of episodes. Though I'm curious about why it's half the usual length of their seasons.
Alright. It's been a while since I've seen it, so I'll probably try to pick it up from Root's introduction (or Shaw's if she came first). Know of a good, free streaming site for the show by chance? Netflix only has seasons 1-3.
God I hope you're right.
Actual semi-spoilers if you plan on watching it.
Even though that's not exactly in the show's nature. We can hope that since there's already been one bad end, we get a good end.
God damn was Carol an aesthetically pleasing movie (that music score too). So I've never read book and I'm trying to find the kindle version on Amazon and there's three different versions published on 2011, 2013, 2015, which should I buy?
The Price of Salt came out in 1952 so there wouldn't be any revisions and they should all have the same content, probably just different bindings/covers/paperquality/price. You can get whichever version you like the best.
you make a good point.
A few months ago, a friend of mine said to me '' do you love your best friend?'' and the funny part is I haven't seen my best friend since 2013. I was just talking about that I want to see her, why she is doesn't want to see me etc at this conversation. nothing sexual. And everyone that I mentioned is straight F, but people still want to turn a friendship into a sexualized relationship in their eyes. (sorry for my english)
I streamed it because no theatre within an hour drive from me was playing it. Since it's oscar nom season the screeners have leaked, so you don't have to watch some god awful camrip with silhouettes and chink subtitles.
Overall a solid film. Some shit goes down, but the majority of the film is spent on the girls and their relationship. Also not a bad end, which is pretty rare for period films. 7.5-8/10
>Also not a bad end, which is pretty rare for period films
Well, it is reportedly the first lesbian novel with a good end. Todd Haynes is a smart enough guy to not mess with something like that.
I have, played in movie festival. Quite good story about discovering your sexuality in an era when being homosexual/bi deemed as sexual deviant and need it psychotherapy and medication. The main character (Carol) is the dominant one, while Rooney Mara character is so smitten by Carol, she is basically follows her everywhere without question up until a point. There are 2 love making scenes when both characters are close to being nude.
I just finished S1 of OITNB and am halfway through season 2 and I agree, this isn't that good. There is way, way too much Larry
why do they keep devoting segments of each episode for that whiny shit, he was even in the episode that Piper wasn't in. Why?and what few lesbian stories they have aren't interesting at all main couple breaks up for a man, a side couple broke up for a man, another side couple splits up and dies. I wasn't expecting solid romance but now even Larry is getting romantic moments with Piper's best friend while good ones like Tasty and Poussey get steamrolled. I expected a lesbian dark comedy set in prison, not a straight women prison drama with occasional Nicky x randomsex scene. Does it start getting gayer soon? I don't know how much more Larry I can take. Please tell me he is going to be written out of the show before season 3
>eason 3 but Larry wasn't there at all and I think there's a new lesbian character there played by rl lesbian Ruby Rose.
Damn. Considering how some tumblr lesbians blogs were worshiping this series, expected some better shit. Fucking SJWs, can't even fan lesbian right.
Anyone else annoyed by PoI fics completely missing one, if not the vital character trait of Shaw? It's such an interesting new thing to try (not that the show does it really well either). Is there any that portray it well?
me neither, but I'm still glad they cut him off completely in third season and focused on other characters. also,I never really understood all the hate this series seems to get,for what is worth,I found all three seasons very enjoyable and fun to watch.
>inb4 I have shit taste and my opinion is invalid
yeah, most likely, and honestly I don't care. if I think a show is fun I'll watch it,I don't give a damn if half the world finds it stupid or a work of art.
I'd love to have such a folder, though.
Didn't find that much fan-art, never mind quality fan-art, on google.
There is some really lovely stuff out there, though.
Shit, not faberry. Bechloe from whatever.
I knew I've seen this artstyle!
Damn, s/he improved quick.
There's very little anything for it.
That's by Ermu.
And this is too.
Holy shit, pixiv has some good art.
I think I need to watch this show.
Shaw is one of the most beautiful characters on any screen.
Oh damn. Though I've sat through 3 seasons of Orphan Black, and all the hetshit bullshit therein.
If you girls want more POI fanart, http://eladies.sina.com.hk/cgi-bin/weibostatus/user.cgi?uid=2095599540&page=20 and browse back. All kinds of neat shit. Turns out you can view old weibo pictures without an account.
No idea what the sauce is, found it on some repostfag's plurk.
Fantastic stuff, thanks.
A psychopath and sociopath raising a child sounds like a terrible idea or a good rom com I have yet to decide.
Both would probably hate the "nice house" part and general feeling of settling down. What I hope for their future is a dog, terrible innuendo and shooting people until they need walking aids.
Why can't it be both? That girl was already paranoid and decent at tech stuff for her age.
And by nice house I mean place where they can lay their heads after a long day of shooting people and taking orders from Siri's less moral cousin... Come on innuendos, dogs, and a gun room are basically mandatory
>A psychopath and sociopath
Doesn't mean they can't have morals. Which they do.
Possibly better ones than most sane people.
I am not talking about morals but about raising a child which has a lot of different aspects, such as stability, being emotionally available, empathy, lot of time, etc. Also Root has only gotten morals in the last year thanks to a god A.I whispering in her ear, if not for Harry and Her judging she would still be shooting people in the face instead of the knees. Not that I don't love the idea of Gen being raised by them and the rest of the Team as funny uncles because I love unusual patchwork families.
I have no idea what you people are talking about but that sounds crazy as fuck.
Sometimes I don't want to see a spoiler. But anyway, it was the poster's choice, not mine.
Finished The 100, I love Lexa! I really hope we can see more moments of Clarke and Lexa in the next season, I know that Lexa screw up, but Finn
were crazy and killed 18, and in the end she said she loved him..., I wanna believe we can see them together...
Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm free to think how I want, and won't be killing anyone soon, if ever.
Say, have you posted any pictures in this thread?
Well I stuck with it and finished season 3 but I didn't enjoy it much, which I probably should have expected. Even the complete lack of
Larry was too little too late. Piper's cheating mastermind shit just made her less interesting and of course more lesbians go missing. Is it just me or does it feel like the writers mostly kill and/or send lesbians to max? Tricia kicks it early on, Nicky got sent away, Ruby Rose comes out of nowhere and disappears just as fast, and now Alex? What a mess.
There really is not that much /u/-related content at the moment. But if you're willing to put up with illogical decisions of dumb teenagers, heavily plot-armored protagonists and some very unlikely coincidences, go for it. It's entertaining to watch while you're drunk, high or in a company of friends. Even better when it's all three.
/u/ doesn't appear till the... middle of season 2, I think?
Shit. I started forever ago but dropped it after, like, 4 episodes because everyone was getting on my nerves. The /u/ was the only reason I was considering rewatching it. Thanks for the heads-up.
>The new Hong Kong Sina has launched!
>Sina female channel has been revised, the fight into the new Hong Kong Sina (sina.com.hk) them.
>We will continue to provide users with the latest, fastest and most abundant information, to provide more convenient and improve user experience.
Fucking hell. Glad I made it in time to grab all her pics, but there were other accounts I wanted to go through.
The first episodes fucking blow. I dropped it but gave it another shot. the series picks up and piles tons of emotional suffering on the protag which entertained the shit out of me. Blatant /u/ teasing in s3 trailer.
I did the same thing and got hurt much more than I expected as well. the last half season is going to be brutal, tho I think shaw is confirmed to return.
Well, what do you know, after a few episodes I gotta say it's not that bad, aside from the main guy having the emotional expressiveness of a piece of wood. The tech and comp sci stuff is not that far-fetched, apart from skimming over a few details to fit the narrative, and they even get most things right. It's also creepy, because the surveillance is constantly happening right now.
Way less annoying that OB.
It's a big payoff. But also a big, BIG cliffhanger. I'm not gonna watch on until the series is finished. Because it can easily still turn into a buttfuck. But it doesn't need to....we'll see.
I'm just starting S2. So far there's only Root present.
First season is the slowest because it's just like your typical crime drama (which is the type of prgramme I like anyway but I understand other people not liking it) but season 2 is where it really starts to shine in terms of plot and characters.
Does anyone know about this movie? Trailer doesn't mean much and I obviously don't want to spoil myself too much.
Dvojina seems to be the original title.
Slovenian movie from 2013 with very little information about it, how would you even watch it without going to a film festival? There are dozens of bad foreign indie movies that look like they have promise but they rarely turn out to be worth it in my experience.
The first conversation between Shaw and Root that doesn't involve mutual shooting and tasing happens in S3. And then it's a while before the interactions between them reach the point where you can safely turn your goggles off. So if you're only on this ride for /u/, you'd better wait until the show is over and then apply copious amounts of fast-forwarding.
I've been already watching on 1.2x speed because, my fucking god, how many times you can save some incompetent fool because it becomes repetitive.
At least Ben from Lost is entertaining sometimes.
>mutual shooting and tasing
I'll take it. I'll just hope there will be a good reason for the change of hearts.
If you don't like it, don't watch it. Watch a scene compilation of the two, now that you know how the show works, if that's all you want.
>watching at increased speed
The lengths some people go to, just to be stupid...amazing.
Not that anon, but to be fair, generic "one story per episode" crime drama routine tends to get very old very quickly. Especially if it's not the first crime drama you're watching, and especially if the routine is very predictable (at least one shootout in each episode, somebody gets disarmed because they're stupid enough to get too close to Reese/Shaw, somebody ends up dead, destroyed kneecaps everywhere, etc.) and doesn't have much to offer in terms of novelty.
Sooner or later you'll end up wishing for more actual plot to come. What makes it more problematic is that PoI doesn't exactly have filler episodes; there's character and plot development in almost every one of them, so skipping episodes completely is out of the question. Unless you're in just for /u/, then I guess none of the above actually matters.
>I'll just hope there will be a good reason for the change of hearts.
Oh, I'm sure the mutual tasing isn't going anywhere.
Fine if we bring in shorts too?
>The film is about a young quiet girl (Sofia), who experiences a strong fascination with the female talent (Trine) in their fencing club.
I also remember this
>40 Love is a short film for the Cornetto Cupidity series. Game, set and it's a match made in heaven when a young girl finds herself as an accidental target for love.
>Oblivious to their close proximity to one another, two women reflect on a brief connection they shared six months earlier
It's every bit as sad as the summary suggests though.
That was awkward as fuck and all the side cast were creepy assholes. Not sure if it was worth it even though she
NTR's the rapey coach and got the douche lacking boundaries to step off forever by unlocking Trine's gay, and walks away with a smile.
One of the best shorts I've seen on youtube, very funny, very cute.
Unsurprisingly featuring a father to fill the male jerk quota.
Thanks for the heads up, I'd rather not.
Rejoice sisters, Oscar's nominations have been announced and Carol got a few:
* Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (Cate Blanchett)
* Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (Rooney Mara)
* Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published
* Best Achievement in Cinematography
* Best Achievement in Costume Design
* Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score
I'm just waiting for 5th to air. They'll probably squeeze it in at the last possible moment, and then it will still probably be a disappointment.
The angry sex part will be Shaw raping Root while overdosed on Samaritan crack Greer managed to get her addicted to to brainwash her.
