Have you recalled that TokaHaru a best today?
Still one of my all time favorites intros

Same for me. The music is nice and those black outfits, hot damn. I wish we had an OVA in which they had to wear those outfits for whatever reason.
And I can't help but feel nostalgic everytime I hear that "Are you ready to count down?". AnR was such a nice ride, I really wish we had more of it.
>>1917049
I didn't think it was that good when it aired, but when I visit these threads I want more of the series for what it could have been. It had great potential but it didn't deliver fully and was unfortunately a disappointment.
>>1917056
> but it didn't deliver fully and was unfortunately a disappointment.
Talk for yourself.
>>1917056
I kinda agree. It is a special series to me, but I agree that it had much more potential. Wishing for more yuri aside, the plot could have been better.
I wish someone would write some sort of fanfic that remakes the story in some aspects, but this fandom is so dead it is probably impossible.
What are some of the stuff you guys would change in the story if you could?
>>1917070
Honestly? Nothing. I'm completely satisfied with what I got. 9,5/10. Would be 10/10 if it had explicit lesbian happenings.
>>1917077
Who's the last girl?
>>1917084
Weiss Schnee from RWBY.
>>1917084
Fucking Weiss "Homoqueen" Schee.
>>1917070
For me, i had some problems with the anime but most of them were fixed in the manga, so the only thing i really want right now is Sumireko and Banba being together in the Epilogue, them i'll be completely satisfied
>>1917010
Nio's so short I can't tell if she's supposed to be a loli in this image.
>>1917095
FUCKING BRILLIANT!
>>1917123
Sumireko ends up taking Banba home, so, most likely, Onee-sama.
>>1913111

Do you want the available chapters also?

>>1917182
Now I'm looking forward to the epilogue, hoping there will be some cute Banba x Sumireko in it.
>>1917137
I think it's supposed to be a young Nio.
>>1917199
Thank you, onee-sama.
>>1917056
I've seen people saying they didn't like AnR that much and I wonder why? The plot was preety good and the characters even better.
I was a little sad when I was watching it, so it succeed to evoke emotions too (at least to me)
How can you dislike this and have no problem with other animes that are only there for fanservice
>>1917292
I want some Isuke x Haruki too
>>1917123
Yeah, this. I almost wonder if people who complain about AnR being bad or unsatisfying have tried out the manga at all. It's really much better.
>>1917534
Some people didn't like how everyone was alive in the end, i mean, i guess i kind of understand it, since it wa supposed to be a "Death Game" type of thing, but on the other hand, there was also the theme of "forgiveness" in the anime, so i think that's what they were going for
Other complaints are the lack of actual yuri and the pacing, which were things that i did have a problem with, but got fixed in the manga
Other than that, i don't think i've seem any other complaints
>>1917554
>Some people didn't like how everyone was alive in the end, i mean, i guess i kind of understand it, since it wa supposed to be a "Death Game" type of thing, but on the other hand, there was also the theme of "forgiveness" in the anime, so i think that's what they were going for
I didn't view the ending as that.To me they all died. The last scenes were just Tokaku's wish that could never get fulfilled.
I think that this interpretation is VERY obvious and intended. So everyone can more or less think of it like they want. A bit of a cop out, but heck, that's normal with anime. Shit's gotta sell, though with all the flaws of the show, it didn't really sell much anyway.
>>1917563
Why a cop-out?
I mean, the very first chapter/episode has that "The world is full of forgiveness" riddle, so when they did that in the end i realised what it meant, not saying it's anything brilliant, but it was there
I think a cop-out would be something like, not killing the characters because they were popular or something
It's also normal for Death Game animes to be depressing edgefests with everyone dying at the end, so i also think they were trying to subvert that, but who knows, maybe i'm giving the writers too much credit
>>1917567
Well, I don't even know how you can view the ending as positive, but I think it was intended to be both ways. And anything that goes kinda this way and kinda that way to not anger anyone is a bit of a cop out. Like a romance with a love-triangle which never gets resolved, because the author doesn't want to piss any fans off.
I don't think it's too bad in this case. The true problem of the show isn't the ending, nor the beginning.. it's everything in between.
And that a yaoi author wrote it. I always felt like gender-bending the whole cast would give you a super clichéd and typical yaoi story. Not exactly ideal, because while the exact same story with guys would totally be yaoi, it just didn't work with the girls. In my opinion at least. Barely Yuri at all, and the relationships felt rather weird to me.
>>1917572
Yeah, to be honest, i also felt that it was actually a yaoi manga that got genderbended for some reason
Wasn't there a musical or omething like that with genderbended character's before the anime came out? I remember reading about it somewhere
But still, it wasn't too bad, it felt like a breath of fresh air to me, having something that's so different from a typical yuri anime, and the manga seems to be going in the right direction with the yuri, so it's all good for me
Reposting the dub
http://www.funimation.com/shows/riddle-story-of-devil/videos/official/the-world-is-full-of-___?watch=dub
As someone who doesn't inherently hate all dubs, I find this pretty decent. The voices fit well enough.
>>1917578
Why do you think it felt like a yaoi manga? I didn't get that feel.
Yeah, it seems there was some sort of live reading with some of the characters as their genderbent versions, but it seems it was just a short story, not the whole thing.
With that being said, I'd like to get something out of my chest: I really hate when people genderbend AnR characters. I got into this series cause all the main characters are female, and going into the AnR and seeing a sausage fest, it is a really big turn off, ewww. I have even seen yaoi of their genderbent versions, and I hate yaoi.
>>1917587
I've watched the first two episodes. Inukai and Tokaku are good. I can't stand Nio and Haru's voices. They're way off.
>>1917615
Well, think about it
Certain characters, like Isuke and Haruki for example, would look like a stereotypical yaoi pretty boy when genderbended, their personalities are also yaoi-ish
I dunno, it's just a gut feeling, maybe it's because it was made by a yaoi artist, but i can't help but feel that it was originally a yaoi series
>>1917563
Well, I think the ending can be interpreted as both. The tragic interpretation would be more fitting of a series about assassins, but I don't hate the happy ending, I just think it felt kinda forced and out of the blue. Even with the theme of forgiveness, some stuff were not expected. Maybe they should have given more hints and foreshadow towards the happy ending or something.
>>1917624
The cast was actually going to be guys at first.
http://triplezeroandapockerface.tumblr.com/post/100243001292/translation-of-the-special-staff-
>>1917534
I did say that that I didn't like it that much, but the characters were the strong point and the plot in itself was rather good, but it's execution on the anime's behalf was rather poor, possibly due to the director. It just had potential but didn't reach a level that made it that good to what it could have been. Also the fact that the charcters were disappearing one by one made it little worse if your favorite character ended up disappearing early. But that's how it was written so I can't argue with that.
>>1917624
What? Nio is like the anime's highlight. Her ~su in the end of every sentence is wonderful. Also her voice actor is one of my favorite so I might be a bias there.
I've never read any yaoi.
Is it "yaoi-ish" just because there isn't a lot of blushing and holding hands?
>>1917685
>>1917694
You scum.
>>1917697
What Nio's hair smell like?
>>1917700
Melonpan andlove.
>>1917692
I guess? I think this is kind of a stupid argument. I found AnR refreshing because it features girls with more varied personalities and relationships than your typical yuri manga.
>>1917697
Nio iscute
>>1917732
Nio isthe cutest.
>>1917727
Yeah, i wasn't saying it like it was a bad thing, i quite liked it myself, it was a breath of fresh air
I mean, who cares? Even if they just genderbended yaoi characters, i think it worked out pretty well
>>1917727
Same. And it is not just school life, there is a plot. I know the story is a bit weird sometimes, but it exists.
I don't know if AnR is yaoi-ish or just not very yuri-stereotype-ish. I think the girls' personalities are things you see in different genres of anime, rather than just in yuri or yaoi, so it might feel a bit different/weird.
I expected anr's plot to be a little more complex. Half of it is one of the assassins try to kill Haru, Tokaku defeats them and thats it. It is not bad, but I expected something more than that. Like the assassins attacking each other rather than only targetting Haru, making alliances, betrayals and stuff. And that maybe they all would come back after the last one of them got expelled for, idk, something interesting.
>>1917764
Yea, it was a very simple formula both plot and character wise.
>>1917732
>_master1200
No
>>1917805
This looks like the cover for a doujin.
>>1917807
If only, but the artist does have more than one AnR and Nio/Yuri book you can, and should, buy digitally for a pittance: https://tiyk66.booth.pm/
So far my favorite voice from the enligh dub is Toecacoo's.
Btw what kind of feel is Nio's "ssu" in japanese supposed to convey? Is there a better word choice to convey it than gangster speech?
>>1917812
English*
>>1917811
Yeah, I have them. Don't have translation for the HaruxTokaku one though.
>>1917820
Do you have the raws?
>>1917880
I have them, and I can typeset it. If you're interested in translating, maybe give a (temporary if you like) e-mail I can send them to? Despite being a filthy pirate scanlator I'm not comfortable just openly distributing the raws of something I bought digitally from a small independent artist.
>>1917888
Done. It's only 6 pages of bubbles.
>>1917812
>gangster speech?
I would describe dub Nio's dialect as casual teen, playfully exaggerated
Hitsugi x Chitaru
>>1917962
>background lesbians spontaneously jumping up and embracing in response to that display of gayness
The laws of physics are wondrous indeed
>>1917962
What I like about AnR is that it feels like the creators said "Lets make something but only include best couples" and they did
>>1917554
>>1917567
>>1917632
Isn't "forgiveness just a red herring? what's-his-fuck-face himself even says that there's no right answer to that question. All he's trying to do with the questions is to wake Tokaku up and get her to deal with her Mommy issues.
>>1917563
Why is everyone dying in the end so important to a point that it ruins the whole anime?
To be honest I liked it like that way better. I hate it when in anime we get to love the characters only to see them dying in the end. It feels like a big waste of characters
The lack of yuri was fixed by the manga, but they did turn everyone straight in the anime except Tokaku and Haru. They probably didn't want to attract viewrs for the yuri rather than the story. I don't mind that to be honest.
Subplot yuri is fine by me, as ecchi andmfanservice get very boring without any other background to the characters
Grimdark makes everything better.
>>1917615
Can you post a link with their male versions? I'm curious
Yes to be honest a full male cast would make the anime boring. I mean girls assasins are more interesting than males, because men is more typical to be an assasin. And of course the fact that someone might solely like it for the female characters
>>1917692
The only yaoish feature that I could see was the way characters' eyes were drawn. They reseble the shounen style more than shoujo. And also, maybe Tokaku who totally looks like a guy
>>1918215
It's a shonen manga, after all
>>1917764
Yea I thought there would be turning into each other etc too. But I guess it was because they could only make 12 episodes. The director said they had to compress it into 12 chapters and Shiena's backstory was gone
>>1918229
I understand cropping everything in the anime, but the manga is not limited, it had space to add other twists and stuff. Maybe Yun just didn't think of anything like that.
>>1918199
"Turning everyone straight" is a big stretch. Sure, they didn't go quite into the relationships, but didn't just pair them up with other males.
And Chitaru/Hitsugi's ED is anything but straight.
http://chirigirl13.tumblr.com/post/90779663376/poison-me-akuma-no-riddle-ed-6namatame-chitaru
>>1918221
Case in point: Nanoha FORCE. Tried to go grimdark, failed miserably.
>>1918215
I like Minakata's eyes. It's the author that had the yaoi background.
>>1918438
I agree. The characters turn out so preety with these eyes. She is the yaoi author? I never saw any yaoi manga from her...
>>1918450
Loveless. The AnR duo did Loveless together.
>>1918452
But the other work I checked from her is mainly yuri...you can't call her yaoi artist
>>1918499
Loveless was their first major success. That's why people has that impression.
>>1918215
>>The only yaoish feature...eyes
Aaaand that is a fallacy created by the anime fan dumb. Go out and you will see plenty of women with sharp eye features. I never understood this limitation of how "women should look" in anime.
>>1918506
>go out
Huh? I knew Yun had written yaoi, but was Minakata the one who drew her yaoi manga? What?
And I love the anr eyes, they are so much better than moe or shoujo eyes.
And I'd like to add that Sumireko's eyes are the most beautiful.
>>1918566
From a quick check, Yun did both the story and art for Loveless. Plus, the art's nothing like Minakata's, so can't see why anyone would make that mistake.
>>1919178
Aand this is how accurate the internet is. I was looking for AnR fanarts and Minakata's art is full of yuri, so she suddenly turned into a yaoi artist out of nowhere lol
>>1918566
That's right. Loveless is mostly yaoi with one case (as far as I know) of yuri. They're side characters too who fight the main yaoi pair once or so.
Why didn't Kouga do the art herself in AnR?
>>1919504
I agree about Inukai, but not Nio. I think Tokaku is good, as well. And, his terrible pronunciation of "Tokaku" aside, Kaiba is pretty good too.
>>1919504
>what the hell is with Shinya's voice?
They went for batshit crazy, it's pretty good.
>>1919390
If she did, chapters would be coming out at an even more glacial pace and probably with less and less pages.
Loveless, again, is an example of how she's been slipping. Having to draw two serialized works, in addition to plotting (whatever plot there actually is in AnR and Loveless) would mean more work for her than she can presumably put out. Plus, even if she isn't doing the art for AnR herself, she still needs to direct Minakata to a certain degree, the extent of which depending on how much free reign she leaves to Minakata. Some comics' writers just come up with rough scripts and/or doodles, some break it down into so much detail that everything in each panel is described to the artist.
>>1919528
>less and less pages.
But that is happening with Minakata ad the artist too.
What were Sumi's last words?
>>1919773
Guess:<something> don't feel sorry for me?
>>1919773
>I won't apologize, either!
Because on the previous page, Haru said that she won't say she's sorry.
>>1919986
I just found it on twitter, but I think it is just a drawing, not doujin.
https://twitter.com/Guthrie_kaiten/status/667711477529251840The right arm got kicked by Haru, the other one is there, it is just hard to see. It's that machine gun arm.

It seems the other 10 episodes will get their eng dub version released today for subscribers at funi.

>>1921424
>They stream it in HD and yet they are only releasing it on DVD. What gives?
Kadokawa
They pulled this with a lot of R1 releases like Future Diary
>>1921424
They don't want their Japanese audience to import the blu-rays from America at non-psychotic prices.
>>1921600
Is blu ray too expensive in Japan?
>>1921621
It's something ridiculous like $60 for a BD that contains 2-3 episodes.
Not releasing them in North America seems like a useless strategy. Not to mention unfair as fuck.
>>1921671
I payed $85 for one volume of JP bluray for AnR
>>1921680
But why
>>1921852
Otaku will buy them no matter the price. Anime isn't cool in Japan so non-Otaku won't buy them no matter how low the price.
>>1921862
There is a breaking point though.
Nichijou'd BDs were so outrageous that even otaku couldn't afford them and the sale tanked
So, nobody ever managed to get scans of this doujin?
http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=45125067
Where can I get the new raws? They're up on Comic Walker, but I remember that someone had the full sized versions before.
I find the idea of Sumireko and Banba being Weiss' mothers very cute, I wonder how it would turn out (probably not a good outcome). And I like it how the nips noticed it too.
>>1931632
Bless this artist.
I just got two copies of the official art book. I tried scanning a few pages, but my scanner isn't very high quality.
Anyone want to see any specific pages?
>>1931637

Nowadays there's so very few new nice fanart of this fandom. Even longer time since I've last seen new sumibanba stuff, I'm gonna die from abstinence, but I can't draw or write for the life of me.
PS: I edited this pic, cause 4chan's size limit is 5MB.
>>1934503
I know right? This is one of the main reasons I'm trying to learn how to draw myself too lol.
The lack of material from a fandom you like. Btw this fanart is very nice. First I didn't recognise Chitaru Sumireko and Kouko haha.
AnR to me was a little depressing, but that was the reason I wanted to see more too. It got me hooked, but it seems people say they don't like it.
Not sure why, but I guess when an anime is labeled as "shoujo ai" everyone just wants yuri action and might disregard the rest of the story.
>>1935450
I mean, I've heard plenty of people say that AnR was shit on /a/ and here, but when you really look at it, it gets a lot more fan content than your average non-action SoL yuri
So what the fuck happened to new chapters?
It's been three months
>>1939144
I don't know, the translator has been missing all this time and I have no idea what happened to her.
Pic is cover of the 4th volume, bless Minakata.
>>1939165
Well shit, all it takes is for one person to dissappear and that's it?
>>1939170
I would like to help, but I don't know japanese and I can't scan the chapters (I don't have a scanner and am too poor to import the magazine). So, should we try to find other people to do the job?

Does anyone here have any scanlating talent? I can do the editing, too, if push comes to shove, but I'm more of a translator than a scanlator, so someone else would probably be better at it.
I'll post a sample of what I've done so far. Skipped the cover page for now because the editing involved looks too tiresome.

Really thx for the raws ^^
>>1947550
Oh my, it's happening...now?
>>1947550
Why in that pile at the left, Tokaku looks like Naoto?
>>1947550
I'm still massively disappointed in that Isuke/Haruki book.
>>1947550
someone get it and scan, and hopefully someone translates it.
>>1944914
What >>1945122 said, though it also reminds me of when she retweeted Suwa and Uchimura's karaoke outing in August where they sang the other characters' endings aside from their own.
The cast seems to be quite good friends even though the TV series has long ended. Minakata went out with them and the lot started chatting about their ideas regarding the cliche school excursion to Kyoto.
> I thought, it would be nice if we could make them come true sometime. (But that's going to be difficult.)
Minakata, don't you see the obvious potential here?
>>1947644
I'm wondering if she's being intentionally vague forreasons
>>1947679
Probably not, that was way before Small Riddle 3, maybe even when she and Morishima were doing Small Riddle 2.Unless the school trip comes later in a chapter she hasn't drawn, instead of an equivalent to episode 13?
>>1947699
morishima's illustration is diabetes inducing.

>dat Hanabusa/Banba

>>1947699
Where are Nio's nios?
>>1947700
>Haruki/Isuke
Oh my heavenly goddess that looks absolutely amazing
>>1947947
It's probably a shot from when she was younger.
That, or just chalk it up to Morishima's art style.
>>1947699
Morishima has done it again.
The illustrations are fantastic as always, but Im guessing the story is gonna be tame as fuck again
>>1947975
>Loli Nio x Yuri
based Morishima
>>1947699
I wonder if Morishima will ever do true, taboo age gap.
>>1948501
I think Morishima likes breasts too much to do loli
>>1948459
Where are these scans from?
>>1947975
Nah, it's loli Nio. Morishima isn't afraid to draw boobs. She does quite often, too.

A new AnR doujin got posted on e-hentai a couple weeks ago. I didn't notice it, so I'm saying it here in case anyone else didn't notice and is interested. It's all in japanese though.

This is a imageboard which allows you to post images, you know.
Why spend money on cyborg parts when you can spend it on IPS technology?
>>1949676
Absolutely HARAM.

Where did her tats go?
>>1949674
A bit weird but whatever gets you off, Yuri

We got a cyborg and an immortal granny, lesbians having biological babies is not impossible in this universe.

Too busy illustrating dem abs

Is anyone here going to buy Small Riddle of Devil 3? The focus is on Suzu x Kouko, but I wonder if there is more of the other ships, just like 2 (first stories were Isuke x Haruki, but the last one was for all pairings).
D'Awwwww
Oh My!
Minakata needs to get her head together with this artist's.
>>1953690
Minakata needs to stop bullshitting around and just do lewd. I mean holy shit how did she even come up with a scenario where Haruki and a buzzed Isuke are alone in a room and then no sexy happens?! I'm not even asking for full on tribal, just some sexy moments like Isuke getting on top of Haruki and strapping her down with her thighs or something, goddamn
>>1953695
Well she's no stranger to it, it just may be that she doesn't want to do it in a high-visiblity fanbook release.
>>1953695
>I mean holy shit how did she even come up with a scenario where Haruki and a buzzed Isuke are alone in a room and then no sexy happens?!
I thought it was cute, showing Isuke's got insecurities like a normal person.
There are some sex scenes in the manga?
I'm sorry I haven't read it
>>1953823
Nah.
None of the characters have that level of relationship yet
Loving these two.

That's some good art.
Tokaku the bottom though?

My heart.
TokaHaru makes it go doki doki
>>1957568
GIS and the usual image search suspects is not sourcing it. Who's the artist?
>>1956524
Do not cut tails!!!
>>1956524
I don't think Shiena would ever pair up with Otoya.
>>1957687
>implying she has any say in the matter
>>1957686
But you get a cool weapon if you do.
>>1957699
No weapon can be worth that.
>>1957591
A really good AnR fan artists who updates pretty often: https://twitter.com/yr_aimt?lang=en
>>1957687
Otoya x Shiena and Suzu x Kouko are the roomates that don't feel nice when paired as a couple.
The rest of them is fine
>>1957813
I agree. I'm not against Otoya x Shiena, but Otoya seemed to be more interested in Haru (in the anime they even made her chase after Haru after she got expelled).
So if I were to ship Otoya x Shiena, I wish there would be some scene in the story that would bring they closer.
>>1957579
Of course the stoic badass isn't the top, the energetic girl with lots of love is. See also: HomuMado.
>>1957568
Reminder that you need to change the URL to :orig to get the biggest version.
>>1957888
Yes, but Tokaku isn't as damaged and self-loathing as Homura
>>1957705
Anyone want to take a shot at what all this says?
>>1957568
Maybe when they want to take it slow and gentle Harus's on top. But when they do it rough Tokaku takes over.
>>1958080
I'm not sure Tokaku would want to make even more marks on Haru's body
>>1947700
Haruki/Isuke looks bad to me. Also Haruki looks like a guy.
I know she's a tomboy, but this is not cute
>>1959232
Have you ever seen a woman other than your mother before? Doesn't seem so, because spoilers, that doesn't look maleish at all.
>>1959232
>Haruki
>tomboy
Nah
Long hair, makeups, sweets, strong maternal instincts, skinny as fuck and practically devoid of any muscle despite her strength, she's not even close to the type of Tomboy that Tokaku is.
>>1959237
And you assuming I am a man only to make a lame joke.
>>1959243
She's not the Tokaku type (butch), just her mannerisms a little, some people do call her tomboy, mostly she is feminine though.
But she does have muscle...have you seen her in OVA? lol. She is supposed to be skilled in physical combat
>>1959280
Haruki pretty much has zero tomboy qualities. The only reason people get that "masculine" impression of her is because she grabbed Isuke during their first meeting and people started shipping her as the one who tops in bed as a result.
When you look at their behaviors during their stay there, Isuke is way more confrontational and rigid, while Haruki's a lot more secretive on her own and considerate towards the other class members.
>>1959289
Plenty of women work menial labor for a living anon.
Haruki is the textbook example of a discouraged low skill worker. At least her girlfriend's rich.
>>1959371
Oh man, this artist's work is always so lewd.
>>1959283
Well top and masculine is not always the same. They are both feminine but Isuke is a little more.
Despite that, she's the one to be more rigid and blunt because of her character, not because of feminity or masculinity. That combination though makes her hot
>>1959820
Are there still no HQ scans of the whole book?
Nio is the cover of chapter 41.
Is scanlator Onee-sama still around?
Chapters 39 and 40 still aren't translated right? Haven't missed something?
>>1960447
Do you need someone to clean up the chapter or it's just editing that's taking you a lot of time ?
>>1960800
If there's an onee-sama around who's good at cleaning raws, that would help immensely. I already wrote up a translation and typesetting doesn't take very long at all; it's just covering up some of the Japanese text that kills me.
>>1960953
I will take care of it but give me some days, I am on other projects too.
>>1961716
I'm late to respond, but don't worry and just take your time. I'm just grateful you can do it at all. Thanks, onee-sama.
Chapter 41 raws uploaded in the folder

I want to import a few TokaHaru doujinshi (and there are a couple with scans that have never been used). Anyone interested in translating them?
