Argh, I'm dying to write some Overwatch fanfiction, but I'd like more concrete information to be released about the characters and setting.

Maybe I'm just weird, considering it's all fanfiction, but part of me doesn't want my work to be completely off the mark and "nullified" in a few months.

According to the wiki, her ability to experience emotion has been "numbed", which to me sounds more like suppression than removal. Meaning, it could be restored with appropriate stimuli.

how is the game?

I was only able to get into the Beta Weekend Stress Test, but for the short time I was able to play, it was the most fun I had with a game in a long time. It was also the first FPS I've ever played though, so I was complete shit most of the time. Games are centered around the attacking team capturing/escorting objectives, and the defending team trying to prevent that. There were only three maps featured from the normal eight for the duration of the weekend, so variety in scenery was limited. Controls are pretty smooth and responsive to me, and the servers seemed more than capable of handling all the players during that time since I never lagged in my experience of the game.

Definitely getting it on release, but in the meantime I'm playing Dirty Bomb so maybe I'll suck less by then.

Nope. Medic/HW is just a very common combination on pubs, but there are situations where Medic/Demo and Medic/Soldier are also effective on pubs.

In Overwatch Pharah and Mercy make the most out of each others kits. Pharah has a need for a pet healer and with rockets that have no damage fall off she's devastating when damage boosted. Mercy can take advantage of Pharah's ability to fly to avoid danger and make herself a harder target to hit. I shouldn't refer to Mercy as Pharah's "pet" healer. It could lead to bad thoughts.
