He probably separated them because Ymir is a spoiler herself and he expanded the story. Probably didn't want titan stuff to be revealed that early and Ymir definitely knows things. Otherwise there's no other reason to why Isayama keeps Ymir away from Hanji and Erwin who know about the Ilse incident.
Ymir is probably the only titan shifter who knows the whole deal about titans vs humans and I don't see BRAMT spilling some info.

Ymir has a lot to tell. Ain't no way that's happening through dumbass flashbacks of people who aren't Ymir herself. Ymir Ymir-sama, Ymir's people, all of those questions that would go unanswered if she's already been killed off screen.

Why wouldd Reiner mention.his promise to Ymir? Of course, this means that Ymir is currently in a state where she's in no way capable of protecting Historia herself. Doesn't mean she's dead, though. I think this is confirmation that Ymir didn't escape as you guys used to especulate. She is at their village, likely imprisoned. Perhaps even sentenced to death, to be fed to a new warrior.

Until Isayama does us all at least the favor of answering that much, I will personally hate him. Because he wrote an interesting lesbian character off to seemingly her death, contravening her entire character arc to do so, because he's too much of a fucking hack to keep her in the manga without having her spill the secrets to everything.

God damnit, every month she's piling up deathflags pisses me off more and more- it's to the point that I can't even properly enjoy otherwise legitimately good chapters anymore.

I've analyzed chapter 50 obsessively ever since I caught up with the manga, and I've ranted about this many times, both here and on other fan forums. Her decision makes zero apparent sense, and I'm CONVINCED there's some kind of ulterior motive behind it.

My theory is that she is planning on taking back her throne. When Ymir and Historia parted ways, they were but soldiers; when they meet again, they will both be queens.

That's entirely possible. But it doesn't even begin to explain WHY Ymir would value their lives and safety over her own, and the happiness of herself and Historia (who had just finished basically telling her how happy Ymir made Historia whenever she was around). There doesn't seem to be a single thing in the fucking world that could possibly explain her acting that way other than the fact that Isayama is a shit writer and couldn't imagine how to keep her around without having her info dump all over the plot.

We have absolutely no reason to believe that it would be even remotely in character for Ymir to abandon not only herself but the one person demonstrably proven to be the most important person to her to save the lives of a couple of shitbag murderers.

Oh shit, I just re-read chapter 74 and realized that all those titans surrounding Shiganshina are fucking SHIFTERS. They're not just ordinary dumb titans that Zeke summoned and is commanding. It's a goddamned army of shifters. The survey corps is just fucked.
