It is now, but that's only because popular usage decided 'thee' wasn't good enough. We used to have 'thee' for singular and 'you' for plural only. Now we have no way to distinguish between you the individual and you the group without using additional modifiers. Anyway you/your/we/our in general is a lot easier to use then having to differentiate between thee/thou/thine/ye/whatever the middle English used to say. There were a lot more complicated rules in the past, and modern people still say English is hard to learn.
