‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Release Date Shifts to December 2017
ARE YOU READY FOR THE GREATEST SHITSTORM OF OUR LIFETIME?
>couldnt even break 2 billion
>wants to go toe to toe with Avatar 2
There is always an interest in extremely visually impressive action movies that put IMAX and 3D to full use because they were actually filmed in IMAX and 3D, rather than upscaled/converted in post.
I saw the first one twice because the 3D was a fun experience, but even during the first watch i knew that was all the movie had going for it.
I don't want to doubt cameron but i really wish he was working on something new. Like battle angel rather than a sequel to a gimmick movie.
>film gets delayed 6 months
>autists make a load of threads like it is a big thing
>Episode VIII initally announced for December 2017
>Brought forward to May 2017
>"No wait, it'll be here in December 2017."
For fuck's sake, make your minds up, Disneycucks.
>There is always an interest in extremely CGI'd action movies that put meme formats to full use because they were actually filmed in meme, rather than true kino and changed in post.
It made 2.8 billion dollars.
I'm pretty sure there's a whole bunch of middle-aged fat women out there who specially bought a 80" telly just to watch their favourite spacemurfs at home.
3D shtick and the ''100% CGI innovation from the mastermind of Terminator and Aliens'' thing going for it.
Plus, 2009 was a shit year.
No capeshit, no Starshit. Some vidyashit.
Literally dullest year of 00`s.
Avatar 2 will make SW 8 look like a made for HBO movie. Cameron is still the only man in HW who knows how to use 3D IMAX properly. SW8 will have bigger hype, but Avatar 2 will blow peoples minds, just like all Camerons stuff does. Tortoise > Hare
I remember reading about Cameron making the Battle Angel Alita movie when I was in middle school
And over 2 billion of that was foreign market. Who we have repeatedly shown have terrible taste. The list of American films with as high or higher of their total receipts from foreign markets are almost all terrible.
>Bridget Jones Diary 1 & 2
>Resident Evil 4 & 5
>Pirates of the Caribbean 4
>The Expendables 3
>Need for Speed
>Die Hard 5
>Kindgom of Heaven
>Hanzel and Gretel: Witchhunters
>The Smurfs 1 & 2
Honestly bragging about a film's foreign grosses mean NOTHING.
Your recall must be fuzzy then, 'cause everything from when Jake goes native was totally awe inspiring. Nobody had ever seen anything like that before... i'd argue we haven't seen anything that cool since.
God I wish he would make that Battle Angel movie. I don't know why he wants to make more avatar movies. The first was fine but it was his weakest movie by far, don't know why he doesn't make something else like maybe even another ocean documentary or something.
look on the bright side, it´d have been shit, just like the spiderman movie wouldn´t be that good either, only good aspect it had going was the winter setting
>Yfw Avatar 2 will literally get blown the fuck out
>probably won't even make half as much as Avatar
>people went to see Avatar in droves because it ushered in the era of 3D films
>people literally don't care for 3D films anymore
Jim better have something new up his sleeve here
You know, I can cherrypick, too.
Reposting again, interview with Jim from mid december:
>“We have design more or less finished, which is an enormous task. It’s been about a two-year task. [We’ve finished] all the creatures and the landscapes, and the new worlds within the world of Pandora that you see. The writing is ongoing, but almost finished. Technical development is done. Stages are done. Infrastructure. So we’re really poised to start after the first of the year.”
But Robert Rodriguez is literally making the Battle Angel movie with Jim producing, didn't you know that?
>tfw you remember there's more neyney on the way
It isnt really Cherrypicking as I just went to worldwide grosses, and went to % of total foreign gross. I left a few out. The Last Samurai, Ice Age 3 & 4, Babe, The Chronicles of Narnia 2, The Tourist, Exodus, Robocop (2014), The Golden Compass, The Penguins of Madagascar, The Fifth Element, Gullivers Travels, The Hobbit 2 & 3, Maze Runner 2, Edge of Tomorrow, Prince of Persia, John Carter, Dracula Untold, Rio 2, The Mummy 3, Troy, King Arthir and Puss in Boots.
Thats all of em. Every single American movie with a higher % of foreign gross than Avatar.
The Last Samurai and the Fifth Element are the only ones that pretty much don't suck.
If they lather on the cg and green screen everywhere like the crummy prequels it will make half as much as part 7. Star Wars fans demand real sets, locations, animatronics, with 30% noticeable cg at the most. Listen to me Disney fucks
Avatar is the greatest movie ever made.
Yeah but Avatar 2 won't be like Avatar. Cameron is too smart and too good to actually give us "just" a sequel, it will probably be equally strange and immersive in new ways for everybody to want to see it
>I'm a millennial with ADHD and I didn't understand the themes
You could have just said so, anon.
Exactly. People always wanted and still want to discredit him but Jim is a perfectionist, and if more people read up on his life story and behind the scenes stuff we wouldn't be having these dumb comments in every thread. But hey, he'll prove the doubters wrong again, so there's that to look forward to.
lol, we'll have two more GoT seasons worth of threads by the time that rolls around.
Ready Player One is slated for that same month.
Spielberg is the real one BTFO yet again.
James Cameron has already said that the Avatar movies will be different stories that take place in the same world, so it'll likely have new characters and new locations, same as a whole new stories. Avatar will literally BTFO Star Wars cucks when it gets release.
>probably footage from the Mariana Trench
>in perfect 3D
Suck my fucking balls, you're so fucking wrong you ignorant cunt
I think Avatar 2 will be kinda like a monster movie underwater. They're going to find something down there. Sort of like Abyss+Aliens. And then humans will strike back in Avatar 3.
Have you noticed the change in statements by TFA fags?
>it will blow avatar the fuck out
>muh domestic, worldwide dun matter
>it will blow titanic the fuck out
>hasn't even reached that one yet
What's delusional about that? Jim is one of the smartest guys in Hollywood, that's pretty well known. You can meme against that as much as you want doesn't make it less true.
Same date as Speilberg's Ready Player One, and ten days before Avatar 2. Disney knows they can move Star Wars wherever they want it, and the world will shift to accommodate them. They could release this shit on December 25th and everyone would say "Okay, let's just do Christmas on the 26th this year."
Name a movie that has come out since that didn't have atrocious 3D that was converted in post-production. You can't. People will be desperate for real 3D again in 2017, and Cameron is going to deliver.
>had same feeling two weeks ago
>ordered stuffed crust pizza from pizzahut
>an order of 16 boneless wings to go with it
>laid down in comf on the sofa
Do it mane, StarWars shit will never come close to this comf
>Cameron is taking his time
>Cameron standing up to studio Jews again who probably begged him to release sequels right after
>Cameron doing other things like diving to the bottom of the ocean
You're right, what an idiot.
>I have no argument and just keep shitposting
Unless you hate Ridley Scott with a passion (and he probably deserve it a bit considering his last 4-5 movies), you can't say that the extended cut of Kingdom of Heaven was terrible, i'm sorry.
>yfw Based Cameron out of fucking nowhere introduces xenomorphs to the story as a cliffhanger for Avatar 3
I'm cumming buckets just from thinking about it
>the most hyped movie of all time
>can't even compete with a movie released 20 years ago in unadjusted gross
It didn't flop, but it didn't do anywhere near as well as people expected.
Avatar was alright, but it just made things way too black and white.
Like Sully sure as hell had no qualms about mowing down and killing dozens of soldiers who were just doing their jobs and were basically just fighting for their lives.
Regardless of what your opinion is on the movie, can we agree that the final battle is among the best grand-scale sci-fi action of all time, if not the best? The cinematography, the pacing, the visuals, the suspense, the cool gunships, the editing... everything was fantastic. No quick cuts, no shaky cam, no extreme close-ups. Fluid camera motions and a great eye for what the audience needs and wants to see and how to orchestrate it. Cameron knows how to deliver action
The soldiers Crippledguy was mowing down hadn't massacred an unarmed village in front of him had they? Definitely hadn't destroyed an entire solar system and destroyed crippledguy's government. From what I remember. Which tbqhwyf nobody remembers much from that shitty movie.
>implying people will pay to see animated lizardmonkey hybrid neyney instead of based qt3.14159265359 jedi knight reyrey
Prove me wrong avatards
>implying that ugly Britbong will ever have the same impact on people as neyney
>it must be explained on screen or I won't get it
Go bacl playing with your shitty toys star wars autist
Look at that chin already collapsing. She's aging like shit. And she has bong genes. There's no way she will be the protag of the sequels
LITERALLY The Force Awaken's success was due 90% to it's marketing. Half of the people claiming to be Star Wars fans now would NOT have claimed to be one year ago. Star Wars was ridiculed by most people. Avatar 2, with the same marketing tricks, will convince everyone that they've been waiting 8 years for this movie. Mark my words.
>I have no emotions and can't get immersed in a beautiful world like Pandora
You're the dumb one here, anon.
>people are dumb for enjoying the fantastic visuals of a work in a visual medium
Mom's basement, no real friends, unemployed, sleeps through the day, online all night every night. 100% correct.
First Avengers:Age Of Ultron now The Force Awakens, what will the Jews send next?
No, this is bullshit. Avatar was a success cause it was the first really huge 3D movie and pushed the limits of technology of its time. Unless Cameron has some tricks up his sleeve I can't see any sequels coming close to the box office of the original. The brand doesn't have the same longevity as SW.
yeah i'm not looking forward for disney to carpet bomb the whole fucking world with ads for the next movies. and i don't think cameron would be fond of using that kind of shit for his movies
star wars has nerd/normie legacy tho, even if people cool down and the next movie is all kinds of awful, avatar 2 won't stand a chance
silver lining is that all those "based jim" memers will finally shut the fuck up so that's nice i guess
Why would he need tricks up his sleeve? He has an entire alien sci-fi world at his disposal and can make up whatever he wants and give the audience awesome new things. I trust him to deliver, even if it's just for the best grand-scale sci-fi action of all time.
There was no way TFA was going to beat Avatar. Avatar literally transported you to a different world. Pandara was beautiful to watch in theaters. Also the action was very satisfying, the film was a complete spectacle. It felt grand.
The Force Awakens is the complete opposite. It felt like a watered down action film with Marvel Solo film sensibilities. It was essentially a two hour trailer for Episode 8.
Avatar 2 will be more worth the 8 year wait than The Force Awakens' 30 year wait for Return of the Jedi.
Cameron is crazy talented, but his two biggest movies were far from being his best.
Titanic ain't bad, but I never understood the crazy when it came out. It seemed all its money was made from women and girls going to see it five times or more.
And Avatar was just plain flat and boring, and hinged completely on 3d.
Logic would be that Avatar 2 is going to make a quarter or so of what the first made (which wouldn't be a bad number if the movie costs 200-300 millions) since 3d appeal is dead and nobody cares anymore about Avatar today.
But, we'll, crazy Jim might have something up his sleeve. Never underestimate him...
Considering that they're changing the script to better reflect the audience's reactions - good? This means they're putting making the fans happy over whatever edgy-ass story their next director was planning when he was gloating over how 'dark' it was going to be.
Am I the last faggot on earth that hasn't scene Avatar yet? Is the movie really that good to warrant making 3 billi? If any of my friends have even scene Avatar they never talk about it. Looks norhing special just another cg shitfest
No, the story is mediocre and a direct Disney Pochantas ripoff. Pretty to watch, but when we got the DVD we got halfway through it before we were bored and have literally never watched it since.
i saw avatar because everyone was saying that the special effects were insane and you had to see it. then i saw it and it made me nauseous and the 3d looked like shit. the only cool part of it was the evil white guy with the scar on his face. i doubt avatar 2 would do well, since the only reason people went to avatar was the effects and the story was pretty shit
>Avatar was a fad
The same can be said of the current Star Wars trilogy, if you believe it is another deriative of the prior movies.
And, let's not forgot the Italian leaks, if you believe it.
Come on. It's all rehash.
Avatar II will blow the fuck out of Star Wars VIII.
is it impressive that it made that much money had that long a run in theaters and didnt have any impact on teenagers i mean if you rate things on teenagers and popular culture theres only one awnser you are a teenager
THE NOVELTY IS GONE
NONE OF THOSE MOVIES WILL EVEN DO TFA NUMBERS, LET ALONE BEAT TITANIC'S WORLDWIDE ADJ FOR INFLATION, AND JUST FORGET ABOUT BEATING AVATAR CUS ITS NOT HAPPENING
ITS OVER DISNEYSHILL STARKUCKS ARE FINISHED
>The same can be said of the current Star Wars trilogy, if you believe it is another deriative of the prior movies.
No it can't though. TFA is just a continuation of a hugely popular and successful pop-culture icon spanning three-fucking-decades.
Avatar was a film dependant on a 3D gimmick, then disappeared into obscurity leaving no indelible mark on anything of the the bank balance of Cameron, his chums and 20th Century Fox.
>Avatar II will blow the fuck out of Star Wars VIII
It won't and I suspect you know it won't.
>Avatar 2 is going to demolish Star Wars
Why does anyone think it's actually going to be released in 2017? Cameron hasn't met his release dates in literally decades.
>make Disney regret betting 4 billion dollars on a damaged franchise.
Pff, they already made the money back on toys alone. Everything from here on out is gravy. They might actually be worried if Avatar had any major toylines and/or merchandising deals, but they don't.
Honestly what reason do normies have to watch Avatar 2?
Avatar was all about "muh 3D", now 3D is everywhere. Nobody gave a shit about the actual film, nobody wants to see the continuing adventures of generic space marine and blue alien chick.
Neither of you know shit about Avatar 2, so you're both wrong for the time being.
Avatar has a Cirque De Soleii show, and is getting a Disney theme world, so its a complete falsehood to say its been forgotten. Also, it is fucking pathetic to doubt the Starwars franchise continued success, but it is EQUALLY pathetic to say Avatar and Starwars have remotely comparable starting points too (not that its cultural value mattered anywhere but America...).
The script rewriterumors sound bad for Ep 8 and the fact Ep 8 is releasing BEFORE A2 tells you everything you need to know about what Disney is thinking.
Everyone is scared of James Cameron.
>Everyone is scared of James Cameron.
Jim, pls. You're pussy Canuck faggot. No one is scared of you and you Pandora shit.
You're competing against the biggest and most identifiable American pop-cultural icon of the past 50 years. You go H2H against Star Wars and you'll lose.
>Avatar was all about "muh 3D", now 3D is everywhere.
That's not even real 3D what you get nowadays. Doesn't add anything to the viewing experience, the studios just want to save money. Jim's the only who could do justice to 3D films.
Keep sucking off Disney, anon. SW would most likely win in the domestic market with another heavey marketing campaign, but it would lose internationally by a massive margin. TFA currently sits at just over $1bn overseas, Avater at over $2bn.
>he thinks avatar 2 would make anywhere near as much as avatar did
>what are Christmas gifts
they make tons more money selling toys and other merchandise during the holidays than they ever would during the summer, and TFA shows us that it'll probably make the same amount of money in ticket sales regardless of if its summer or winter
I haven't even said that, learn to read. Just that that Avatar 2 would beat Episode VIII overseas. Please accept that your manchild franchise isn't as beloved in the rest of the world as in the US or the UK.
>Currently 1.885 billion
>gets another 200 million
>ends first theatrical run with 2.085 billion
>re-released to build anticipation for Ep 8
>now at 2.435 billion
>re-released to build anticipation for ep 9
>adds 250 million
>now at 2.685 billion
>re-released once trilogy is completed
>finishes with 2.835 billion
The OT and PT were first released in china just this past summer. It's not that chinks don't like SW for some reason; it's that Chinese people just have never even heard of it before (and thus have zero nostalgia factor)
Jim would scoff at all the dick sucking he gets on this site.
>re-released to build anticipation for Ep 8
Laughable. You have no idea how the box office works.
>adds 250 million
Now it's just pathetic. I hope you're not serious.
You know it isn't this easy to just re-release a movie whenever the fuck you want? Also those numbers are laughable, we're talking about a span of literally just a few years here.
Episodes VIII and IV won't do much better, either, though.
>re-release 15 years after original run
>majority of the gross from China
This gives Jim Cam and Tarantino something in common.
Watch Fox lose their shit because Disney will basically try and fucking screw Avatar 2's theatrical screenings in all the 3D cinemas and Imax's.
The real irony is that Avatar 2 may be more highly regarded as an underdog because of this.
Titanic is universally and enduringly popular and remembered, is the most successful film of the past half-century bar NONE, and is probably the most iconic film of the last 2 decades. TFA will be forgotten in 6 months.
A TFA rerelease would make $80m at most in the US and $50m everywhere else.
>Please accept that your manchild franchise isn't as beloved in the rest of the world as in the US or the UK.
It's grossed over $1bn overseas alone without the UK. It's made shit loads in Australia and Europe and done preddy gud in South America.
You mistake the cinema-going public's interest in heavily promoted gimmicks like 3D as a genuine interest in Avatar itself, when it has become very clear that Avatar simply failed at grasping the public's imagination and interest as something like Star Wars managed, hence why it failed to establish itself within popular culture and pretty much disappeared without a trace other than a remarkable box office showing.
I disagree. Titanic rode the wave of 3D when it was released, which is why it added a sizeable chunk to its total gross. Why would there be any need to re-release TFA any time soon? Rogue One is out next year, Ep VIII the year after that. If it were, it would be a nominal taking at best.
I loved the movie since 2009 and Jim long before that, can't say for anybody else, though.
Also a lot of people are fed up with the crossposting Star Wars fags. They've been shitting up the board for months, and now they finally get BTFO because TFA will nothing more than #3. It's just satisfying.
>Saving Private Ryan
>Lord Of The Rings
None of these are iconic.
Not a massive hit nor all that influential cinematically.
Comparable. As individual films still not as big.
>not knowing they're his cash cow so he can explore the ocean
You're fucking cattle to this magnificent man. Praising him only fills him with disgust. Like a stray dog begging for some scraps.
Mmm. Considering Toy Story introduced the whole 3D animated film making and was a genuinely remarkable film, it is certainly more iconic than le king ov teh worl meme motion picture
I love all the butthurt sci-shit nerd responses to this. It makes it all the better that you're actually telling the truth and these fanboy manchildren can't accept it!
Actually, I'm changing my list
Comparable to Titanic tier:
A step below, but still relatively iconic tier:
>Lord of the Rings
>Saving Private Ryan
Niggers thinking Boy N tha Hood is iconic but not Saving Private Ryan (greatest war film in 30 years), Gladiator (influenced a swords n sandals revival). Fight Club, Toy Story (greatest Western animated film) or Lord of the Kings (greatest fantasy adventure film)
Everyone into SW I know is a neckbeard, everyone who liked Avatar I know is a grill. With the Euro/Asian market is Disney cucking themselves? It's easier than the May/June capeshit lineup but is also the worst possible opponent in many ways. Or have they given up on breaking Avatar/getting 3 billion?
BNTH is pretty iconic, I'd put it above SVP when there's many WW2 movies and Gladiator which was pretty much Braveheart in Rome. Toy Story is for kids and has sequels and Fight Club is considered overrated by even Fincher fans.
>GWTW record is fraught with bullshit
Yet it still stands and it sits up there with Star Wars, SoM, Titanic, Jaws and ET. TFA will likely break $2bn come the end of its run, and that will be a job well done for Disney, They've successfully delivered a critical and commercial reboot of a popular franchise.
>20th Century Fox shills still on /tv/
Please fuck off.
>Also you listed the domestic adjusted for inflation list. Worldwide its GWTW, Avatar, Titanic and then Star Wars.
And SoM, and ET, and Jaws and others. So the list is still pretty much the fucking I posted same except for Avatar, you silly pedantic faggot.
>hurp durp remake Starwars basically
>characters and story
Wait, is the first Alien movie actually good or are these guys just being autistic? I never watched any of the Alien movies but I always assumed they were just the same generic trash as AVP.
T2 was so much better than the 1st terminator. We need some new ideas instead of the human vs Na'vi shit.
>other alien races
>Na'vi start to act like humans as their civilization develops
Valid point, but it has a chance to ingrain itself more deeply into pop culture with a very good sequel.
What I fail to understand is why Cameronfags and Star Wars manchildren have any interest in how much the movies make. I swear both groups are like sports fans that have no investment or return on their team's success. Actually it's worse because you can bet on sports at least.
>I never watched any of the Alien movies but I always assumed they were just the same generic trash as AVP.
>tfw this probably isn't bait
>Yes..i hear you all...i hear you down there, talking shit. I listen and i chuckle, to your anger and bitterness echoing from below. Such intense rage yet so minute and insignificant...so distant. The hum of grandiose declarations, supported only by delusions of mere mortals. One after another they have crawled before the golden gates of the 2 billion mark. Barely standing up,bloody and tearful, try to grasp it with thier gaze, realizing they will never pass through. They gave thier absolute best, but never reached thier destination. Cursing my name as they are being cemented for eternity to thier pitiful position. But i forgave the blasphemy, disregarded thier envy, while i sit on the throne, ever so confident in my divine right as the Emperor Director. Yet i still wish for a worthy contender, for a noble spirit to clash swords with. It is indeed, lonely at the top...
>muh FUCKING MERCH
>grasping at straws this hard
How the fuck are still here? You think people are joking when they say Aliens and Terminator 2 are possibly the greatest action films EVER MADE?
Please download and watch Aliens right now with the loudest sound and largest screen possible. Directors Cut is the best.
Because other than most of todays celebrities, James is an actual role model who worked hard to get where he is today. It's nice to see him succeed. It's nice to see that he's just doing whatever the fuck he wants now, and it's funny to see that people still underestimate him.
Also I really like statistics and numbers, so following the boxoffice is fun.
There's literally no chance that they'll even get around to filming Avatar 2/3/4 this year and Disney knows that. Production dates aren't even slotted and that should tell you something. I would expect an announcement about the delay sometime around June.
>it must be explained on screen or I won't get it
This is literally the most frequent complaint about TFA. That's fun.
And way to pathetically defend one shitty movie by going ad hominem and attacking another shitty movie. Suck Cameron's dick any harder brah?
>Implying "normies" don't love Star Wars.
>Implying "normies" will give a shit about a flavor of the month from 2009, which was most notable for it's gimmick, which even normies don't give a shit about anymore.
So when is Avatar 2 starting production? Episode 8 starts production in a few weeks. Are we still pretending Avatar will be released in 2017? Do you really think Disney made the move assuming Cameron wasn't going to be delaying the release?
Even if they did end up competing, neither would "demolish" shit. It'd guarantee that neither break any total gross records.
And Disney's investment has unambiguously been to their benefit.
Nice try though, Avatard.
What a burn.
I was 19 when I saw Avatar, and had been hyped since 2006. He made Aliens and T2, son. 2 biggest box office records, and only beat by a movie that was out for 10 years. The only person who can beat Cameron is Cameron.
Only redditors and teenagers who didn't see Avatar in theaters doubt Cameron and talk shit. I wish he'd go straight to Battle Angel Alita but I'll take what I can get, fuck you poorfags who see video files on small screens and complain about it looking like shit. Name one movie that has surpassed it in effects recently.
I love how desperate Avatards are to inexplicably defend China and Chinese film tastes as a way to defend Jimbo and talk shit about Star Wars. Maybe I'm just an asshole, but I prefer movies made for my culture, and not cynically designed to pander to foreign markets. You know who wasn't the bad guy in Star Wars? A literal American GI Joe caricature.
If 2/3rd of your value is determined by how much the ching chongs like it, it's a shitty fucking movie. Realistically, Avatar 2 isn't going to be competing against TFA in America, it's going to be competing against 7fast7furious in fucking China. What a great film.
I can't believe people like Avatar this much. Yeah, I liked it in theaters fine, and it looked good. But it's really only a mediocre movie, which is especially pathetic given how long it took to make. You're telling me in 10 years Cameron couldn't have written a better plot/characters/everything?
Literally everyone saw Avatar in the theaters you wannabe oldfag. And people don't doubt Cameron, they doubt fucking Avatar. It was a forgettable color-by-numbers movie with no characters we give a shit about.
People went to that movie for the gimmick. And as a result, every movie since copied the fucking gimmick, and now nobody gives a shit about the fucking gimmick.
>Name one movie that has surpassed it in effects recently.
Most of them.
>being this booty-devestated 4chan doesn't share reddit consensus on Cameron
My brother who is 12 is a redditor and talked shit on Cameron until I showed him T2 and Aliens. Hadn't seen them before and didn't talk shit afterwards. And it's clearly a pro-nature film, not an anti-american one. The bluray (which I bought on that day) was released on earth day, can't get more obvious than that. I'm sorry that you were too young for your parents to take you to see it in 3D, but at some point you just have to be objective and not a whiny teenager.
You're telling me in 7 years nothing has beat it effects-wise? Cameron developed new technologies in order to make his vision, and he's known for pushing the envelope in effects and action. Again, name one movie that has surpassed it in scope or effects since it was released. 2012 looks like a PS2 prerendered FF cutscene, yet Avatar still holds up. Praise be to Cameron and his works, and let Him drive these teenage redditors off this board.
I have no idea if anything has beat its effects, which, like I said, looked good. You can't just take a decade to make a movie and then point to >muh effects to excuse literally every other mediocre aspect of the shit you made.
I love how Avatards feel the need to defend cameron whenever people talk shit about Avatar, his worst movie since Piranha 2.
>And it's clearly a pro-nature film, not an anti-american one.
Kek. For one thing, a movie can be two things. But more to the point:
>Peak of "people are getting real sick of this Iraq shit" hivemind.
>Makes movie where American stereotype businessmen invade a sovereign, tribal people and exploit them for their resources.
>Main bad guy might well have been named Sgt. Ame Rica.
>White American hero who was crippled by his own people is a literal race trader. He's a hero because he turns into one of the tribal anti-American rebels.
$2 Billion foreign box office.
>I'm sorry that you were too young for your parents to take you to see it in 3D
Kek. I was 23 when Avatar came out. I saw it in 3D on an IMAX screen. Nobody's arguing it didn't look neat with the uncomfortable goggles on. The point is that LOOKING NEAT WAS ALL IT WAS. It was an amusement park ride.
Nice nonsense ad hominem btw. What are you some uppity undergrad?
>Anti-Jimmers now trying to use Avatar's massive foreign box office as a negative
Was unaware the hobbit movies were MOST of the movies that came out since 2009. Fun fact I guess.
And yeah, Avatar TOTALLY didn't look like a videogame.
None of the mo-cap is as impressive as what Andy Serkis' company is doing. Other companies have done better flying dragon bullshit. Fucking Gareth Edwards made better monsters with $30 dollars than Cameron did with $300 million. Literally the only thing that Cameron did that people haven't been super interested in copying is the amount of depth he created. He developed fancy, expensive 2-lens cameras that were replaced by better 1-lens cameras within years. Most of the innovations he brought to the industry lasted about as long as the bullet-time rig the Wachowski's innovated in Matrix.
>Bombed at the Asian markets because, surprise surprise, there's no "diversity" bullshit there so Asians saw the lead as just some ugly black guy
>Star Wars "fans" can't say this is racist because apparently only white people can be racist
>They actually have to go and reshoot some of the movie and redo the script to pander to the Chinese
Laughing my fucking ass off here. We'll see how much "diversity" is in Episode 9 after the extra costs all this reshooting is going to be.
Reminder that Hollywood is happy to play along and push an agenda so long as it's profitable. Now that this shit is biting into their profit margins, expect to see it finally fuck off.
>inb4 B..BUT JEWS LOL
>Jews love money much more than they do controlling goyim
>Pro-Jimmers trying to use Avatar's popularity among people that don't speak english and don't like the West, as a positive. Oh the Chinese people spent a lot of money on Avatar? Must be a real masterpiece.
>Highest grossing film in China: 7Fast7Furious.
>They must really hate diversity.
Keep on sucking Chinese dick for some reason. Hows that "anti-diversity" agenda working with that "china should influence American movies" talking point working? How's your cognitive dissonance?
How am I an actual avatarfag? Because i saw it in theaters 6 years ago?
The mains are all whites. And before you say "VIN DIESEL ISN'T WHITE LOL", chinks think he's white.
>The non-whites were all side characters
>Not a single actual main character was non-white in their eyes
Try harder Jamal.
Touche faggot. Great response too. Really proving me wrong with all this weak ad hominem shit.
>Highest grossing Star Wars movie in China before TFA: $9 million.
>TFA gross $100+ million.
>Blaming that one black guy for Star Wars doing almost exactly as well in China as Disney projected it would,
>Being this desperate to create a narrative to justify being butthurt about a black protagonist character in a space fantasy movie.
Movie will make right around ~$2 billion, but i-i-it didn't make billions in China! The Chinese are racist, not me! Just because I endless shit post about that one black guy and keep racist maymays about it saved on my computer doesn't mean I'm not validated because that space fantasy franchise that the Chinese never liked did about as well as it was projected to. How stupid was Disney for not pandering to the Chinese enough! Finn obviously should have been Jackie Chan.
