Post your casting suggestions for a live action Witcher movie
Is this bait? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1070742/
Eva Green for Yennefer
Saoirse Ronan for Ciri
Christina Hendricks for Triss Merigold
Angelina Jolie for Philippa Eilhart
Monica Bellucci for Sile de Tanserville
Scarlett Johansson for Keira Metz
Eva is a good choice
Saoirse is a terrible choice and you should end your life
Hendricks is kinda just muhh dick considering triss is nowhere near that bodyshape and shes not really a broad actress (non physically speaking)
Jolie and Bellucci are sadly too old and busted
Jeff Bridges as the witcher
No one, because we don't want vidyashit in our film industry. Not everything needs a fucking film adaptation. Go back to /v/eddit.
Brian Blessed as the Bloody Baron pls
monster hunter, demon banisher anything nasty basically human children ( normally ) made to go through horrible mutations which kills them most of the time to make them essentially a olympic athlete there entire lives and are capable of performing very basic magic a very tame "hero" type for once (most people hate them though) witchers can be killed by any well trained swordsman for example instead of BTFO of anyone who isnt equivalent or somehow greater
They are already making a movie based on the short story 'the Witcher' and the 'Lesser Evil' which is supposed to then lead into a TV series. So outside of Geralt none of main or secondary characters for the rest of the books will be appearing in it.
Thare is actually 8 books.
Considering the movies are being based off the books then it will be.
This is True, alot of the main characters and secondary characters outside of Ciri are pretty old.
>Geralt: near a century old
>Ciri: 16 years old by the end of the last book
>Yen: 96 years old
>Dandelion: in his 40's by the end of the books
>Triss: about 50 years old
>Regis: like 470
>Milva: in her 20's
>Cahir: in his 20's
>Angouleme: a teenager
>Dijkstra:in his 40's
>Emhyr: in his 40's
>Don't sexualize the daughterfu
Charles Dance for Emperor Emhyr because obvious reasons.
There was already a shitty Polish live action TV show.
A shitty fucking overrated games like by redditors, and made by Slavs who have no concept of good game design,so they decided to go open world to hide the fact that they're games are shallow pieces of shit with a story that plagiarizes other novels.
Don't you mean /lit/?
They were books first. There also was a TV show and movie before any of the games were released.
Never heard someone say fuck off back to /lit/ before, so it'll be a first.
>casting a black guy for someone who is described on multiple occasions as being white and called an albino
Honestly all memes aside this does seem like something that will happen. But why stop there let's cast a black person for Yen who you know is a quarter elf, has black hair, violet eyes and has pale ivory skin. I wonder we should change Ciri to?
didn't he get salty that the games renewed interest in the series and was going to write another book just so he could seem in control of the franchise. he said some shit in an interview like "oh i consulted with the developers but i don't really care about the project. it's nice that more people are buying my books now though."
guess the man just doesn't like video games
Triss is a massive coward in the books who betrays betrays Yen, Geralt, and Ciri and doesn't stop being a coward until like 10 pages left in the final book. So I guess the Triss at the end of the books is the same but for like 99% of her screen time she isn't.
Except cdpr has no involvement in the movies and their material isn't being used so they don't matter when it comes to this.
she never pretended to not choose the lodge. even yen told the lodge about ciri and still communicated with them after vilgefortz tried his stuff.
she chose the lodge over them, that's it.
He doesn't like Witcher in general anymore. He used to write some pretty good short stories, thought he could take on a full book series, lost interest halfway and the publishers obliged him to finish it. If you pay attention after book two it all goes to shit pretty fast. The last book is a massive fuck you to the readers.
Honestly he is a good author, but doesn't have the stamina.
I was saying if they are going to use any material it would probably be the games.
Which framed Yen, wanted to use Ciri as a tool, and was fine with having Geralt assassinated and Yen killed. I would say she betrayed her loved ones by not helping them and choosing the lodge over them.
Except they aren't. They literally said they are adapting the short stories.
Cause he was right.
Sorceresses and non-humans cant be trusted.
>Adapting short stories
This would be better as a TV series, and confine the stories to one or two episodes.
I'd love to see the short story with Three Jackdaws the dragon and Yennefer bound using magic with her feet.
It's being based on the books and cdpr has nothing to do with it.
Sean Daniel Company looks promising, they're adapting The Expense right now, but I don't know much about the other one. If done right they can land a cash cow here, the ending of the first book if really powerful, but will rely heavily on atmosphere build and acting.
This is one of the short films that the directior made.
I figured /tv/ might enjoy if for some reason.
Tomasz Baginski has also made the cgi intros and some other short films. He is a big fan of the series and has been trying for forever to get an adaptation.
I feel like people will get tired of Shanara and Game of Thrones so there is a void of sword and sorcery genre that needs to be filled.
What channel would carry it? I hope he chooses to make it a Netflix Original or something.
people should be bored of Game of Thrones by now. They just introduce a ton of characters to kill them off. The fact that viewers still get attached to these characters blows my mind when they are mostly unlikable people and you know they are going to get killed off in some unfulfilled way.
Shannara on the other hand is just starting. And if they work past just the content from the books then they have a ton of story from the shannara world they can work through.
But Shannara is objectively shit after the second book. If the source material goes south, how do you think the show will do?
I'm bored of Game of Thrones because of D&D fucking around with things that are perfectly fine in the franchise and books.
Better than it getting a terrible time slot on cable television and it being cancelled because of lack of viewers.
Not all Netflix shows are Jessica Jones.
Most people have cut the cord. Almost all my acquaintances and neighbors my age have. Makes sense to start making good quality shows on subscription services.
They also have the budget to pull off a fantasy series like Witcher [see Marco Polo], whereas other channels may not.
But she does need and want a man who loves her. It's mentioned numerous times in the book.
Plus a non-magical ordinary human was able to keep her chained up.
I don't understand the meme that Ciri is a Mary Sue that is perpetuated specifically on /tv/.
It's the new Bane posting almost, the term turns up in every thread.
I liked the painting in the crones house when you can see them youthful, and the fat crone is holding her basket and again she's in the middle etc.
I like that kind of detail in games
As stated multiple times, the books came first and the television show/ movie is slated to adapt these books, mainly the compilation of short stories in the first two.
How is he a terrible character?
>It's mentioned numerous times in the book.
No. What is mentioned in the books is that she is attracted numerous times to men, even Geralt. The whole premise of Times of Contempt is that the world was degenerating because of the war and common people were turning into crazed amoral murderers, Ciri being one of them.
>I don't understand the meme that Ciri is a Mary Sue that is perpetuated specifically on /tv/.
It's meanly because Witcher 3 loses all sense of conflict when she shows up. It's clear the game of not about him anymore.
I did cry when Geralt found Ciri at the end of Sword of Destiny and when Geralt, Yen, and Ciri reunited in Lady of the Lake at Stygga and then again with the whole depressing ending.
>Netflix will turn this into a lesbian festival
If they adapt the two short story collections then there are no sexual moments for Ciri, because she is a child or not even born yet.
Not every show they do is what you say. Girls airs on HBO but do you judge all of the content of the channel based on that one, shitty, agenda-filled show?
Cmom, anon. Every Netflix original so far casts diversity, race mixing and faggotry. If you can name at least three shows where none of these happens I'll consider you're right. I'll even give you Narcos for free.
It's actually a deconstruction of feminism show, as it's proven the witches and the loft are guilty for most of the shit that happens. And even though they're hauled as martys they all get their due in the end.
Witcher has some of the better female characters in fantasy.
I'd say a good majority of the characters are female, three-dimensional, and strong. But not to prove the "don't need no man" point, many of them are very sexual or even submissive.
But they are actual, believable people, even if they are sorceresses.
Like Queen Calenthe, Shani, Yen, Philipa, Ciri, Fringilla, all really well written.
Especially considering these characters came from an old Polish man.
Final season of Arrested Development
Lillyhammer [love how they aren't scared to criticize Muslims]
Honestly noticed no agenda in Daredevil, nor changing the cast to subvert the comics
Making a Murder shows how women can be awful and do lie
Dear Zachary for the same reason
Their numerous series continuations lack agenda as well.
That sass on the ship in Witcher 3.
>Margarita: Except for you [Philipa], me, and Ciri, Geralt has slept with every woman on this ship
>Philipa: With you it's only a matter of time.
>If you were hoping for a fivesome, there's no room.
>the last wish
Literally three of those characters are game only characters and triss doesn't even appear in that book as the first book she appears in is the third one.
