>>65085505 >ITT: How we could have improved Star Wars 7
Turned the story into the new trilogy. It was far, far, far too fucking rushed. They tried to fit way too much in. It left no room for character development and understanding their motivations. So instead we get a bunch of people we don't care about getting into coincidental and lucky situations.
>>65085505 >Kylo Ren only takes his mask off to face Han >Have Phasma do things or not appear at all >Hux is an older guy, cast someone more intimidating as him >Starkiller only stops being operational or it doesn't appear at all >No shitty CGI, have all creatures be practical effects even if they look corny >No Maz, have someone like Lando Calrissian give Rey the lightsaber, it would have made more sense
>>65085807 >Kylo Ren only takes his mask off to face Han Sure why not >Have Phasma do things or not appear at all Completely agree, all that hype and she didn't do shit >Hux is an older guy I'm okay with the actor, he's around the same age as Driver so it feels like they're the same status which I like >Starkiller only stops being operational or it doesn't appear at all Just don't include it at all, Starkiller was a retarded idea >No shitty CGI I thought the CGI was good >No Maz, have someone like Lando give Rey the lightsaber That would've been amazing, it would've forgiven almost all of TFA's mistakes
>>65085505 Remove Rey Phasma is male Replace TR-8R with Phasma Finn is white Ren is intentionally played up to be a whiny faggot and has a nerfed power level (SNL Ren) Ren isn't Han Solo's kid First Order isn't First Order, it's the Empire Remnant No "Resistance", The Republic actually has an army No Deather Star Scrap everything and start over instead of just remaking Ep 4 like an uncreative hack
Recast bongoyga. Doesn't have to be white just not so ugly They don't steal the Millennium falcon they steal some other ship and stop at the cantina to repair it Have Solo first appear at the Cantina and finds Luke's lightsaber in the Millennium falcon
>>65085505 >no cgi Snoke >Snoke's name not being snoke >no shoehorned godawful cgi female Yoda wannabe >no rushed Han death >better Han death >more struggle and development in Rey's OP force sensitivity >more emotion and expanse on those planets getting rekt >completely omit the freighter/kangiclub scene >Rey and Luke's encounter is 15 seconds at most before cutting into the credits >no helicopter shot
We only need a Emma Rey if she has a barefoot scene.
All of this >>65085807 plus >New original ship designs, influenced by Xwings, TIEs, and Star Destroyers but not exact copies >Either recast Finn, or use less shots of him making his ugly gorilla faces (his acting is actually fine) >More Rey scavenging screentime >Rey doesn't know more about the Falcon than Han >Rey can't somehow use a Jedi mind trick on her first try >Kylo is winning the fight against Rey when they are split up >No Carrie Fisher >Use Snoke less to keep the mystique >Explain why the Imperial Remnant is more powerful than the good guys in this area
Or if they really wanted to make me happy >Sheev is alive and is the main character played by Ian Mcdiarmid
>>65087610 >more struggle and development in Rey's OP force sensitivity That tickled my autism. All that training Luke went through and some fucking failed stormtrooper is efficiently using a lightsaber he picked up.
I think that episode 7 was totally fine aside from star killer base. It did however, set the sequels up in a bad direction.
The lack of new sip designs and characteristics differentiating it from the original trilogy was the worst part of the movie for me, but we have yet to actually see any New Republic ships and technology. We have only seen First Order and Resistance tech, which would make sense that they don't have much new technology because they are just smaller versions of the rebellion and the empire. They aren't actually new fractions like the New Republic is.
Basically they have a huge opportunity to fix the biggest mistake in episode 8. Weather or not they do it, we will just have to wait and see.
>>65088294 This >can build/fix anything >is a podracing god >didn't know shit about piloting a spaceship and took down the federation control ship in his first try >jumps into oncoming traffic for fun and unscathed >commits genocide against space Arabs without a single scratch on him while 1v1 >Literally gets revenge on innocent masterswordsman after leveling up 344 midichlorian points >Can land greivous' ship perfectly in front of Sheev's office >assisted murder of best jedi swordsman in town before he gets thrown out a window >gets to force pump his seed into a queen >gets to go to Jedi heaven after murdering younglings and a handful of other implied Jedi slaughters
>>65085505 >Less action, more slow scenes. >Utilize Raid Actors more to their strengths >Have Luke speak one line for the hype >Take time to develop characters >More scenes on Jakku >Original Content. Something that'll be new but also affect the story. >Make Rey Struggle >More Han solo/Kylo Ren connections >Show Finn's conflicted feelings on the First Order/Resistance >Explain Poe Dameron
definitely less stupid action and more drama/personal character development. flying ships around all the time is pointless if you didn't make other crucial developments like i watched the whole movie and still am not sure who is rey truly as a character and if finn is a coward, annoying teen with a stupid crush or just a comic relief
>>65085505 >a large star fleet instead of deathstar 3 and the first order win in this movie with some kind of bombing campaign >rey isnt a mary sue >finn is more then comedic relief after he meets ray >kylo and rey have a stale mate at the end at the most >REMOVE ALL QUIPPY DIALOGUE AND FAN SERVICE >captain phasma isnt weird and shiny, brushed steel look would be better >storm troopers guns dont look like white nerf guns >change the planet settings from generic video game multiplayer desert, snow and forest levels.
>>65085505 Too many Mary sue moments. I know shes supposed to be the main character, but dont sideline Finn and the other characters just to shiwcase her as the most talented woman in the galaxy.
Yes, Luke definitely has his Gary Stu moments, and Anakin does too, but they were mainly useless or werent perfect when they tried. Rey literally had all the skills in the world to drive the movie.
Like, if you overpower her, then all of the rest of her moments will be dull in comparison. Piloted the falcon, fixed the falcon, knew the falcon, knew the controls, learned the force through visions, overpowered a trained force user, AND defeated a trained lightsaber user? Take away a few of those aspects and spread em to other characters, and you'll have a chaeacter that you wonder about. She could be a luke type of character, where you see his potential rising in later movies, but dont see all of his feats. But all of her skills are shoved down your throat in one movie, so itll be no surprise or tension in the later movies.
Hell, itll be a nightmare when SHE DOESNT display the same skills in the next 2(??? Dont know if theyre still making a trilogy) movies just in response to criticism.
Basically, she is too much of a mary sue to be seen as a relatable or a strong character, just a tool for advancing the plot. And the future movies will be memes if they dont stay consistent with her power and skill levels in the same movies just to appease to the complainers like many of us on the board.
>cut out rey insta-learning the jedi mind control, finn and han and chewie save her >have rey be btfo by kylo ren in the final fight, but her final hail mary force outburst separates the earth between them and rey escapes >have finn fight off years of conditioning with him being basically a child soldier, have him be resistant to killing his fellow first order troopers >more poe, don't get rid of him then have him miraculously come back in the end of the second act, have him go with finn as they look for a way to contact the resistance in jakku (his comm gets destroyed in the crash landing) >cut out the monster chase >get rid of that stupid helicopter shot
these are just the really cosmetic stuff, I would've wanted to remove the knockoff cantina scene and the third death star but that would've changed the story too much.
>>65090299 kylo in the next movie will have to fuck rey up with all this strength he got from being angry from losing against her I hope they dont turn him into vegita where he doesnt have a single victory
>>65090299 Also to add my point, I would take out her various Mary Sue moments and leave her as the opportunal savior or specialist type of character. Right now she has too many skills for a scavenger from an isolated desert planet town.
They'll need a lot of memes, flashbacks, and CANON material to explain her BS powers and skills.
Finn is a loyal stormtrooper, but he unknowingly helped Poe escape (like Poe got help from the inside by a Resistance agent), and he's labelled as a traitor by the First Order. He's then forced to cooperate with people he thinks as traitors to the galaxy (Poe, Rey, Han), mirroring his own experience as a percieved traitor. His whole story is trying to decieve Rey in order to gain the Resistance trust and betray them to earn back his return in the First Order, but as the story progress he understands that there is a different perspective that what the First Order fed him since he was a kid. In the end he grows attached to Rey and Han while the First Order only taught him about respect and authority. He understands he's been on the wrong side all along, and this climax when he finally reveals to Han the codes to disactivate the shields, which he knew all along.
With Rey it's kind of the same thing. She's been left alone for a long time, and she grew up a bit selfish and distrustful, which are mandatory traits on a planet such as Tat- Jakku in order to survive. When she get offered rations for BB8, instead of flat-out refusing, she tries to bargain for more (which is met with refusal). She doesn't trust Han (why would she?), and doesn't care all that much for Finn when he says he want to leave. She appears much more cold, and the only time she really opens up is when leaving Finn at the Resistance's base at the end, because she understood that opening yourself and trusting others could be a strenght, and not a weakness.
As for the details, I would have make Rey lose the fight against Kylo, have Phasma kick Finn's ass instead of TR-8R, ditch Poe and Finn forced bromance, and have this weird Han's freighter scene replaced by a scene of character development. An exposition scene about the state of the galaxy between First Order, Republic, Resistance etc would have been nice too.
>>65090366 why did they even say they were taken at childhood its just stupid >but dey more eeeebbbiill that way chief from halo was indoctrinated from birth and it took how long to display even the slightest bit of humanity?
>>65085505 More character arcs. It was all REY REY REY. Hell, luke barely got a development arc in star wars(new hope). Focus on the other interesting mew characters or youll be forced to develop them in the later movies, which will halt the progression of the story.
>>65090497 it was pretty short sighted of them, they could have committed to finn being a repentant bad guy, or have him be rebellious against orders from the start. he basically grew up with the bad guys but somehow seeing just one of his buddies die in battle and he has instantly seen the light?
>>65089917 >3 years of Clone Wars >19 years of a hyper-militarized Empire waging ceaseless war on separatist remnants and local revolts. >3 more years of full-on Galactic Civil War vs the Rebel Alliance. >1 year of the New Republic hunting down the remnants of the Empire before the final battle on Jakku.
I think the Republic wanting to disarm after 26 years of goddamn endless warfare is totally justified.
>>65090366 oh, and more world building/exposition of what happened to the star wars universe (politics and such) after the empire has dissolved. but not go overboard like how lucas did with the prequels.
>implying any of the actress' mentioned in this thread would have signed on if Disney told them it only pays 300k up front + .5 % in gross revenue of the film after everyone else recoups from their investment (Boyega got the same deal as well).
>>65090833 The Republic had their disarmament policy in effect for some 30 years since the battle of Jakku. They weren't going to change that just because of some backwater Imperial Remnant. No one knew they had another planet sized laser-ball up their sleeve because nobody thought that they had the resources to pull it off, and no one thought they would be dumb enough to try it for a 3rd time.
>>65090869 is it so hard to understand she most likely trained with luke at his academy before ren destroyed it? not to mention she's probably his daughter and therefore is overflowing with jedi power bruh. if you can't think that, then just wait for episode 8 where they'll probably reveal what i've posted.
>>65091046 That's not what I'm talking about. They could have mentioned she spent time on the Falcon and learned languages on an old rebellion computer. They did a terrible job of establishing her character. I'm fully aware her distant past will be explained at some point.
>>65091207 I don't know. This movie is dumb and I hope Rian fixes it. Maybe she picked to learn Wookiee because she was raised around one and subconsciously knows that. I hope Rian unfucks this franchises shit up.
>>65085505 >Ben is not force sensitive, but an engineer prodigy >uncle Luke refuses to/cannot train him, gets pissed, runs off >trains the living shit out of himself, practicing melee combat all honoraru dueru samurai style, he's competent but no Jedi >probably has scars / a fucked up face after years of trial and error brawling with the scum of the galaxy >builds the junk saber solely on the basis of being a pretty good tinkerer >his force powers are all gadget generated fakes (freezing the lazer blast midair, basic and shitty telekinesis, faux force lightning, etc) >obsessed and collects old sith artifacts, can't use / understand them for shit though
>>65091124 again, it will get explained in episode 8 (although it can be inferred since she was raised as a 'scavenger' looking for very specific parts of quality ships like SSDs, etc. that she must have learned that trade growing up...i mean what else is there to do on jakku?).
you guys act like a new hope explained everything from the get-go.
>>65091341 well that was pretty heavily implied in TFA, and the reveal is not several movies away...it will be revealed in ep 8. luke isn't gonna train her only to pretend he's not her father, come on guys.
my bet is rey and luke are skywalkers, will fight ren and snoke (or del toro, snoke will probably be saved for ep 9) and luke will die, rey inherits the green saber (my favorite) and in 9 takes down snoke (with the possible 'redemption' of ren if he doesn't die in 8 and helps rey kill snoke while simultaneously dying as a sacrifice to killing his father). pretty much typical star wars beats, still looking forward to it though.
it would be awesome if there were no more death stars or 'death planets', buuuut i won't hold my breath on that one.
>>65091690 because of her staff? its too long to be a double bladed light saber, unless it turns out she can remove the middle part and connect the ends, then it'd make sense. i would actually be cool with her wielding a double bladed saber.
>>65091728 >the only issue at this point is essentially knowing how to turn it on and make it go
so you're perfectly fine with a kid destroying the separatist fleet in episode 1 despite never having flown a starfighter, while showing up the trained adult naboo pilots, since those ships are now essentially a plug and play video game?
if you're not fine with it, then you agree that piloting starfighters need actual knowledge and training, not something rey can pull out of her ass because it's 'easy to figure out anyway'
I don't even know why you're arguing this point, since what's implied in it is that rey knows how to pilot at least one starfighter to be able to know how to pilot all of it, which given what we've seen, she does not
>>65085505 I really want to get Emma Stone drunk and have rough sex with her. I'd have my finger inside her asshole AT ALL TIMES. Even when I'm fucking her ass...and her throat? Let's just say her voice isn't getting any softer
i think we are on the same side, but for some reason your faggotry makes you want to pick internet fights with everyone.
Rey is a mary sue Rey should NOT be able to pilot the Falcon on the first go the Falcon is NOT a starfighter and as such, its controls are vastly different. (just because you can steer a RIB does not mean you can pilot a freighter)
there was no argument i was making. i was simply adding to the fact that Luke would have no problem piloting any other small craft due to the similarities to the T-16
the >turn it on and make it go statement applied to Luke, given his familiarity with small craft.
Luke is not a Mary Sue. He's a developing character with tons of potential, but he's clearly not ready to be a hero from the word 'go'
- Is an outcast on his home planet: an awkward orphan who is too callow to defy his aunt and uncle because they need him for another season of moisture vaporation.
- Is not respected by a trash can robot.
- Gets BTFO by a sandperson and must be bailed out by Obi-Wan Kenobi.
- Is too autistic to understand he's being threatened in the cantina, again is bailed out by Obi-Wan.
- Can't hit the broadside of a barn in the Falcon at first. Solo shoots Tie Fighter after Tie Fighter, and when Luke finally hits when he squeals with glee. Han then alphas him.
- Humiliated in front of the group by Chewbacca at the chess table.
- Emasculated by his own sister for being a 5′ 9″ manlet.
- Almost killed by a tentacle monster in a trash compactor. Barely frees himself. Cries.
- Generally relies on the help of more seasoned fighters (Han and Chewie) to help him throughout the Death Star sequence.
- By a stroke of luck (or fate?) he pilots a ship in a trench that resembles a canyon back home. He's the only one with the requisite experience to make it through the trench. His galactic redneck past of bullseye-ing womp rats comes in handy, and The Obi-Wan guides him as well.
>>65088247 Luke was not a terrific pilot. He was good because of the reasons that the other anons put forward (T-16 and wamp rats), but he was never a 'prodigy'. He certainly couldn't jump into the Falcon and know everything there is to know about it. In fact, his persistence to help Han in A New Hope was received with hostility by its real pilot.
I seriously don't understand why people think Luke is some sort of perfect Gary Stu when he spent more time struggling and failing in the films than winning.
>>65085691 There's no reason that Poe could not have accompanied Finn when they he met Rey, leading to all three of them escaping. Because we've already set Poe up as a great pilot himself, he could have piloted the Falcon instead of Rey. Poe in general should have been given a much more leading role, and I consider his disappearance to be one of the film's greatest mistakes to deliver on potential, alongside the Phasma debacle.
>>65085505 Not having a mary sue as the main character. Not ripping off ANH, and feeling like a real star wars movie instead of a fan film. Not having a character worse than jar jar with Finn. Having Luke appear halfway through the film so we can have all the old crew back together. Not killing off Han Solo. Not having the villain being a whiney bitch.
>>65098875 >here's no reason that Poe could not have accompanied Finn when they he met Rey, leading to all three of them escaping. >Because we've already set Poe up as a great pilot himself, he could have piloted the Falcon instead of Rey.
>replace nigger with good non-nigger actor >more Poe >more Phasma >no yellow yoda, or just have her be a background character instead of Han's old buddy >make Rei have flaws and be bad at things at first >explain why Rei would be an ace pilot despite being a poor ass scavenger all her life >cut back a bit on the edge so Kylo seems less like a teenager obsessed with coldsteel the hegehog
>replace finn with poe after the TIE fight crash >make rey into a character by having her make a choice >make it so starkiller base is disabled not destroyed >have rey defeat kylo because of her being able to reverse his force freeze slightly instead of using the lightsaber
First thing to change is to completely cut the tentacle rape Monsters out and slow the pace down a bit for that scene, we just had an action packed escape. Just have Han and Chewie in that area of space specifically because they are looking for the falcon and following a lead.
Have Rhey still one up Kylo but after she is at least tortured a bit. And have Kylo actually get the info they need to find luke from her.
Instead of Star Killer base aiming for the resistance have it now aim for the world Luke is on, (also have the TFO in possesion of the rest of the map.) This would have made a lot of people give more of a shit.
Have Rhey escape by either:
a. Yelling at Daniel Craig though anguish (fear and Anger) to accidentally perform a mind trick through raw emotion. This way its instinctual and gives the audience an oh shit! she has force powers. It can also give us a bit more drama during the Kylo/rhey fight.
B. Have her somehow pull some escape shit that involves skills from her salvaging. (like maybe Ren damages the restraints during information extraction)
We don't find out Kylo Ren is Ben Solo until Han confronts him. This would have given us a "Han, you ballsy fucker why are you just walking up to him moment, before the reveal. (which given the setting would have given us poetry.)
We establish that Rey is gifted in the Force from beginning: >She has a moment when she returns to her AT-AT home where instead of gazing up at a space ship taking off, she trains her telekinetic abilities by clumsily moving some scrap around. She tells BB-8 that one day, she's going to master her 'power' (she doesn't know about The Force, or much about the rest of the galaxy for that matter, and believes that she is special) and take over the scavenging town. That way, she'll "have as many rations as she wants". She's young, naive and lacking in moral guidance - she's grown up in a society run by solely materialistic exchange. >Despite her innate ability, we show that she's still undertrained without a master - when the thugs attack her, she tries to blast one with her telekinesis and her only staggers before renewing his assault. She is NOT skilled in hand to hand combat and is saved by Finnand Poe. Rey remains optimistic that her powers will become better. >Poe pilots the Falcon, because it's already been established that Poe is a terrific pilot, and to have two of those in the same movie is crowding and unnecessary. >When Rey first meets Kylo Ren, he Force freezes her in much the same way as he did in the film. Rey is horrified to find someone else capable of the same superhuman feats she is. Not only that, but his powers are so incredibly beyond her own that the encounter leaves her terrified of him. She freezes up in fear the next time that she meets him and loses confidence when she realises that what she thought made her special is shared by others greater than her. Having Rey trump Ren in all Force contests was belittling to Ren's original premise - a Force-gifted but emotionally unstable student capable of great destruction. In the film we watched, he was just a punk throwing tantrums. At least this way the audience knows that he has power behind his rage.
>>65100976 >Rey's struggle at the movie's climax is to defeat her fear and take up arms against Ren using Luke's lightsabre. >Initially, Rey will not budge from her paralysis, and Finn rises to fight Ren. He gets schooled in much the same way as he did, but his imminent death forces Rey to take action. >Ren, confident that he's still years of training in advance of Rey, goes to Force grab Luke's fallen lightsabre - however, he's met with resistance from Rey trying the same. >Ren screams that she's pathetic and will never perfect her skills. >THIS is the moment to have her inner meditation and Force awakening, the way she did in the film. Only this time, it's not in the heat of battle. >Her victory is summoning the Force to rip the lightsabre into her hands. She does not ignite it. >Her victory is beating her fear and taking the first step on the road to being strong enough to fight and win against Kylo Ren. >Ren leaves in anger, maybe he and Phasma take Finn with them as a prisoner. >There is NO fight because we don't need one. We have adequate character development and the audience knows that Rey as she is has no chance and needs to take time to train.
>>65101568 You're right only complete idiots would station the vast majority of their naval power in one port, I mean any other power could just suprise attack them...wait The United States did exactly that,
Except that was just the US pacific fleet, whose carriers weren't even there. And the US immediately came back and smashed the Jap navy about half a year later. Reference history only if you're familiar with it.
If Rey had shown any weakness at any point during the movie instead of being fucking space Jesus it would have been great. I also would have liked for Finn to be socially out of touch, and incredibly awkward/robotic/autistic, which I think would make sense for a character raised as a stormtrooper since early childhood. He was a bit awkward but still way too smooth for someone with his background.
>>65085807 >>Kylo Ren only takes his mask off to face Han I liked the early reveal >>Have Phasma do things or not appear at all She could have been tr8r-stormtrooper, I'm pretty sure that was the original plan anyways but then Disney went 'but we can sell twice the amount of toys this way' >>Hux is an older guy, cast someone more intimidating as him >Starkiller only stops being operational or it doesn't appear at all Yes >>No shitty CGI, have all creatures be practical effects even if they look corny Only that smuggler gnome and Snoke really bothered me
>>65103131 I know how that feels. Everyone I work with wouldn't shut up about it. Then they come up to me and ask why I haven't seen it yet and telling me its amazing. Then I go and see it and its pretty much exactly as mediocre as I expected.
Not to mention, I don't even know where they could go from Episode 7.
I mean, fuck. Where do you go from a moon turned death star that eats suns to blow up entire solar systems? There is no "bigger threat".
Not to mention, by the end of the movie Kylo Ren seemed like a complete bitch. Like, Vader seemed fucking unstoppable until near the end of Episode 6. Ren was basically a whiny bitch with an inferiority complex that gets his shit pushed in by MULTIPLE PEOPLE. How is he even going to be intimidating in later movies?
Plenty of stuff mentioned itt, but if I could change only one small detail, I would've just replaced the yellow Yoda with Leia. Skip the whole pirate castle thing and just fly straight to the rebel base. Leia is force sensitive, so it would make sense that she could read Rey and Finn's thoughts. It would also make sense that Leia developed into a more wise jedi along the lines of Yoda, rather than a warrior like Luke.
>>65104944 Well, obviously it still wouldn't make sense that anyone has it at all, but it makes more sense that it eventually made it's way to her rather than Maz just keeping it to herself despite apparently being good friends with Han and not giving or selling it to him.
>>65091780 The Republic supports the resistance somewhat but won't actually engage the first order because there's a piece treaty with the remnants of the empire and don't have evidence they're actually doing anything wrong.
>>65085505 Guess I'm just gonna repost what I've posted in every single thread of this kind so far:
>don't make Maz Kanata a talking tangerine. They had Lupita Nyong'o at their disposal after all. They could've slapped some fancy makeup on her and made her character a sort of "space mambo", not unlike Tia Dalma/Calypso in "Pirates of the Carribbean", you know. Think of it: Star Wars borrows so heavily from a lot of religions anyway; since Anakin's/Luke's lightsaber is a sort of force-fetish in this movie, a bit of a space-voodoo theme would've fit the story just right. It would've made the character a lot more credible.
>Try to make the Starkiller Base serve an actual purpose There was actually no real sense of threat throughout the movie. The stakes could've been a lot higher if the Starkiller Base would've threatened a target we would actually care about.
>Don't speak of a "fleet" when you have ten X-Wings flying about.
>Clarify the relationship between the Republic, the Resistance and the First Order
>Solve at least ONE question. To me it would've sufficed to know what the Knights of Ren actually are and where they came from.
>have at least ONE LESS "Finn doesn't know shit"-moment in the movie Turning your erstwhile protagonist into a mere comic relief after one third of the movie just to have him engage in some action scenes a bit later felt kinda sucky.
>have at least TWO LESS "Rey knows a lot of shit despite having spent her whole life as a scavenger on a fuckin desert planet"-moments in the movie.
Not even talking about her force powers here. I'm ready to accept that the Force basically "called out" to Rey and that the Force fortunately works a lot differently than in the Prequels. But man, the "Kessel Run"-thing was just too much. Too much cheap fanservice that the movie could really have done without and that was really detrimental to Rey's character.
[cont.] Really, without that one line, there would've been about 50% less "Mary Sue"-complaints. For example the moment where she says "I fixed the [Flux compensator or whatever]!" with a broad smile on her face after ripping that thing from the panel was rather cute and likeable and could be interpreted as "street smart". The "Kessel Run in 14 parsecs" (NO, twelve!) moment was rubbish.
The whole Rey-Sue dilemma is basically based on one factor that, in itself, was unavoidable but could've been handled a lot better:
In ANH Luke teams up with some fellows and they become the big-ass heroes. In TFA Rey teams up with the big-ass heroes and thus becomes a Mary Sue.
So should there have been less Han Solo in the movie? I don't think so. The character needed a nice sendoff and it pretty much worked out. However what the movie could've done without were the moments in which Rey is all like "Look guys, I'm with Han Solo. Look everyone, it's THE Han Solo!" The "Kessel Run"-bit epitomises just that, if you ask me.
>>65105720 Well, I DID originall post these in a thread named "improving TFA through the power of sheer autism"... still: Not really. Just saying that a couple of aspects could've used a TAD more sophistication
So, so true, The movie was basically an exercise in throwing shit against the wall. Luckily, they pandered to the audience so much, and made such a derivaitive film that most people either didn't notice or didint care
>>65087621 >>New original ship designs, influenced by Xwings, TIEs, and Star Destroyers but not exact copies New ships for the first order, but I think the resistance were fine with second hand x-wings.
>Rey doesn't know more about the Falcon than Han She doesn't. She only knows about the modifications made since Han lost it. Of course he isn't going to know about stuff that happened in the ~30 years he didn't have the ship.
>Rey can't somehow use a Jedi mind trick on her first try She couldn't. It took her two attempts lol, did you even watch the film?!
>Kylo is winning the fight against Rey when they are split up I agree with this. Maybe have her get a lucky swing in and as he goes to destroy her like he did with Finn the ground opens up. Or at least show her go HAM like Luke did against vader, before realising what she is doing.
>>65100976 You kinda just reversed what happened in TFA. >When REN first meets REY, he mind tricks her but she returns the act. Ren is horrified to find someone else capable of the same superhuman feats he is. Not only that, but her powers are so incredibly beyond his own that the encounter leaves him terrified of her. The next time that he meets her, he loses confidence when he realizes that what he thought made him special is shared by others greater than him.
