Yeah, I thought the pacing was fine. I do like Gunn's humor if I haven't necessarily enjoyed his other films. While I was watching TFA, I kept thinking that even though GotG was ripped wholesale from Star Wars, TFA ripped its own little bit from GotG with the inordinate amount of humor (at least for a SW movie). Interesting circle of life.

Maybe one day I'll review it, but as popular as it was, I probably don't have anything new to say about it that hasn't been said before.

The humor bits rustled me off first time watching it, but it sunk in the second time. Most of it, I doubt it was supposed to even be funny-funny. Star-Lord is just remembering his life back in Earth with those comments, and when Gamora takes his 'quips' and says 'we are like Kevin Bacon' it is a little heartfelt moment, some sad memory turned to some relatively good one now.

The beginning annoys me, just feels cheap to use cancer and loneliness in a 3-4 minute scene to get us to like Quill, or root for him, and never touch it again (OK, there's one line where he refers to it in the movie).

Good movie.

Also props for Gunn for filming two CGI creatures and cast of literalwho actors and making them work as well as they did. That was pretty good directing from him, don't you think?

but the scenes, like when he goes to the club and he sees the bouncer, there's a motion in the actions of rock's character and you know it's not gonna stop and it has to be dealt with, it played off that really well. tension and climax of scenes were really good
