Year in review edition
check your emails they emailed through some personal year in review info
This is me, machill54
>Most watched director
Don't remember watching a single film of his last year.
reminder that RYM already lets you access that information and more anytime you want
Ehh, these films are only on here because I rewatched them and already rated them 5 stars. For first watches it'd be Satantango, The Man Who Sleeps and Eureka.
why 3 and half stars for Guardians of the Galaxy?
sounds good to me
no way, post screen shot with username please
not the behaviour, idk, probably you want a "good job" too, but you are not getting any acting like a tough guy
I'm planning to watch a lot more this year. I've watch 24 so far this year.
Might watch Legend, it seems kind of bad. Hate watching things on laptop I enjoy them so much less.
I don't like this meme. Additionally I would be fired for watching this on my laptop probably.
i started logging in the middle of the year though
Hullo. I'll be home in a few days and I'm looking forward to some hot and steamy irc club sessions :3
Also, fuck you Ōshima.
no, lili was always lili. a huge part of my point above is that the selves we are assigned at birth are not ourselves, in the case of trans people, and to bring them up in any context is to denigrate our transgender identities. it is never all right to use our deadnames, and doing so under the guise of journalism is so much worse because it comes with the "credibility" and "veracity" that people ascribe to journalistic endeavors.
It's mindless entertainment, but it's comfy and pretty to look at. I loved Abnett and Lanning's run, so a little fanboyism went into it too. Gunn adds just enough camp to make it stand out from the rest of the MCU.
You actually liked the comics? Nice.
I would've rated it higher had it gone even more campier or if the characters had more time to develop. What did you think of its pacing? I thought it went effortlessly to 1h 50mins.
Will you write a review of it?
Yeah, I thought the pacing was fine. I do like Gunn's humor if I haven't necessarily enjoyed his other films. While I was watching TFA, I kept thinking that even though GotG was ripped wholesale from Star Wars, TFA ripped its own little bit from GotG with the inordinate amount of humor (at least for a SW movie). Interesting circle of life.
Maybe one day I'll review it, but as popular as it was, I probably don't have anything new to say about it that hasn't been said before.
The humor bits rustled me off first time watching it, but it sunk in the second time. Most of it, I doubt it was supposed to even be funny-funny. Star-Lord is just remembering his life back in Earth with those comments, and when Gamora takes his 'quips' and says 'we are like Kevin Bacon' it is a little heartfelt moment, some sad memory turned to some relatively good one now.
The beginning annoys me, just feels cheap to use cancer and loneliness in a 3-4 minute scene to get us to like Quill, or root for him, and never touch it again (OK, there's one line where he refers to it in the movie).
Also props for Gunn for filming two CGI creatures and cast of literalwho actors and making them work as well as they did. That was pretty good directing from him, don't you think?
So much anger in you anon~, are you all right?
>tfw I didn't start logging films until August
This is true. But can easily lead to a disaster. Many people can't into improvising. But, sure, it's easier for a guy alone doing a collage film to make something at least peculiar.
image.jpg as autoban when?
phone ip ranges autoban when?
people with /v/, /sp/ and /int/ post history ban from toher boards, WHEN?
tfw you start to write a review and you quickly remember that you don't know how to do that
I never gave a fuck about Rickman, and pretty much nobody else either. Then the lad dies, and it's "le giant of the screen", much important, great actor. Blah. Also, he was an enemy of Europe.
>this is a popular review by one of the biggest reviewers
Maybe we should abandon ship
and RYM is still better site.
How funny is THAT?
>Not going to RYM and establishing a firm community canon there since it's fresh breeding ground with little to no active film reviewers.
I don't agree with everything they said, but it's better than one line meme review or a blog post. This is close to a blog post but actually concerns the movie, which gives it a pass in my book.
i'm out of ideas so i'm just rewatching stuff i've previously given 5 stars. any recommendations?
i recommend it to you
>that scene at the beach when the priest asks for forgiveness.
wasnt really the twist for me, i didn't even care about the twist honestly.
but the scenes, like when he goes to the club and he sees the bouncer, there's a motion in the actions of rock's character and you know it's not gonna stop and it has to be dealt with, it played off that really well. tension and climax of scenes were really good
too bad about the terribad assassin thingy-subplot that should have never been there desu.
>praising the narcissistic ramblings of a mentally ill degenerate
It's no better than a meme review, he's fishing for likes/sympathy. It's not an analysis of the film written to spark discussion, it's THIS MOVIE HURT MY FEE FEES GIVE ME ATTENTION
you don't belong on post 2014 /tv/ tbqh pham
Little late, but whatever. I also watched 376 films with 681 hours.
>We--transgender people--are all messiahs; that's why you fear us so much.
Last time I posted I got told to expand my taste. How's my arthouse going?
i've liked most of his films but millienium mambo and a city of sadness are arguably his best. but maybe a summer at grandpa's, the time to live and the time to die and dust in the wind would be better to get to before those. can't go wrong either way.
what shirt / song did my cinemobros pick?
i went with the classic RYM design and this
why the fuck does it come green? did this happen to anyone else?
