>The Revenant was a bad movie.
>leo tryHardio should get an oscar already
>tarantino is totally not a hack and a great director, <insert random interracial cuckold fantasy: The Movie> is my favourite film!
>baneposting is stale and should die already
It's a fucking flick of the highest order. Nothing but shit acting/story wrapped with admittedly beautifying cinematography.
>le leo grunting and screaming
>le wide shots of rivers and mountains
i just watched it, 9/10 first half 4/10 second. The movie detonated itself as soon as he finds his indian buddy hanging from a tree. The whole sequence of stealing the horse, freeing the woman, getting attacked by indians, falling off the cliff, and then playing buddy-cop with the ginger general ruined the entire presentation of the movie.
It almost felt like they switched scripts at that halfway point, or that these scenes stayed in the final cut simply because they wanted to present these set-pieces.
It should have gone
>rises from shelter created by indian bro
>had sacrificed himself to the elements for his wounded buddy
>buries and leaves canteen as memorial
>gangrene in left fingers, amputates them
>keep all the fitzgerald scenes at camp, fort now bridges a mountain
>indian scavengers on horseback trading garbage, have canteen
>tips fitzgerald off, he kills the kid and leaves
>chaos at camp
>next day leo arrives, walking toward front gate
>recognized and met by the other guys, he demands fitzgerald
>hears he left out the south gate
>no hesitation, walks straight through the camp and into the wilderness in pursuit
>same fight scene except he suffocates him to death with a rag
no pawnee squad at the end, and none of the gladiator knockoff shots spread throughout the movie
so then you would leave the "daughter of the Indian chef" subplot unfinished
you would make it back into a revengeflick. that it manage to get out from when leo doesn't kill fitzgerald
thats no good
> The Hateful Eight is a perfect movie thanks to a good plot, great acting and fabulous plot twists, plus it have Ennio Morricone OST so it's undoubtly a great western. QT is a great director.
Well made but really boring. Actors didn't bring their A-game. Tom Hardy was alright, Leonardo was almost as god, Kid with eyebrowns was terrible and just impossible to take seriously. What sucks even more is that Leonardo will probably get the Oscar this year just to fuck with society
it was an ok forgettable film, if they award dicaprio with an oscar for laying down on his ass and moaning for 2 hours then they should just cancel the oscars alltogether, best part of the film was hardy stabbing that annoying monkeyfaced redskin like a dog, i liked that scene.
>the "daughter of the Indian chef" subplot
It was fucking dumb anyway and feels like an afterthought
If he gave a shit about her, he'd interview the survivors or kill the french too
hey give me proof/link that it wasnt shot with digital cameras. im pretty sure it was
its the same thing with the fog on the lens and lens flare, they are not hiding the fact that the camera is there. so he looking into the camera makes sense. it also fits with his previous movie styles
you didn't pay attention , the french got slaughter by the Indians. after glass rescued the chefs daughter and she told the chef that the french had kidnapped her, thats why the french guy that survived showed up with the marked can that glass owned. its a whole plot going around in the background. only told if you pay attention.
Everything with Indians was stupid, Cheif's daughter, half-breed son, mysterious dead wife, wacky sidekick, how they couldn't catch him two times they chased him and their poor aim, only opening scene of Indian attack was cool, oh and the fact that actors actually looked like Indians
if you were paying attention, you would have noticed that the dude w/ the canteen and the ginger speaking with him only used singular pronouns, meaning, the original script prob. had glass kill them all alone. the indians were added as an afterthought
well when you have to make assumption and leap of faith to make the movie not fit together then you are just being a shit.
its hard to hear what he is saying because he mumbles . he also talks about wolfs or something. its safe to assume the Indians went back and kill them. this is all told between the lines . that's what i mean that the subplot is for those that pay attention and calculates 2+2
>its the same thing with the fog on the lens and lens flare, they are not hiding the fact that the camera is there. so he looking into the camera makes sense.
But to what purpose?
I am as objective as you can get on this: The Revenant will win EVERYTHING.
Mad Max will get a hard snub other than maybe Director so they don't have to give it to AGI again, but everything else is The Revenant's. There is literally no other competition in the nominees. It's manifest destiny.
nice try, but I don't even have a reddit account
the revenant is a reddit sensibility flick with meme cinematography engineered to appeal to video game audiences
try discussing it over there since you're so keen about the movie and your echo chamber safe haven website
he is misunderstanding the multiplicity of usages of the words
>le reddit meme
Every time I post the chart people misread that.
It isn't just
>Source: Interview with Kiefer
that is the end of the previous line. It's
>Source: DP/30: The Oral History of Hollywood. Los Angeles, Cali: "Melancholia", Sep 2-11 Interview with Kiefer Sutherland
Which is a real thing-
>Lubezki is clear as always
>a Leo with less dialogue is a good thing
>general grit and brutality of whole movie
>score was pretty good
>dude they took our land lmao
>shoehorned in indians that didn't happen
>Glass' son looks nothing like him and was also shoehorned in for Fitzgerald to kill
>Fitzgerald is a cartoon villain and
Glass doesn't forgive him like he does in real life.
>no scene of Glass lying on the rotten log and having maggots clean his wounds
>Lubezki wasted to "This is pretty in a Google HD Wallpapers" way instead of thematically like he does with Malick
>the movie could be trimmed about 40 minutes
Yeah I know and I've seen the interview you stupid faggot. My point is that the interview doesn't prove anything other than Kiefer thinks he's some kind of master scholar of cinema because he did a fucking movie with Lars von Trier. Pathetic.
that chart is absolutely ridiculous. all those words is just different languages (timeperiod and countries) for the same thing.
cinema is word used for when you had to go to the cinema to see it. film/video is about the
recording medium. movies is more general term when you also could film digital and on video.
kino is another name for cinema . some European countries use that word.
so then some american idiot that has no knowledge about where the words meant originally. takes them out of context and give them new meaning to make a fake hierarchical elitist separation of high taste and low taste. this is so out of any modern take on art and movies that it belongs to the 1800 century.
Its a cinemà you retard. Let me explain to you:
Flicks are when you like the movie.
Films are when the flick has at least 20 milion grossing.
Movies are movies.
Cinemàs are when it is artistically good in a bad way.
Learn the difference before calling me a redditor, son.
Cinema = what motion pictures are a part of
Film = any artistic or dramatic film of superior quality
Movie = anything that isn't just for fun/popcorn-tier
Flick = just for fun/popcorn-tier
Now both of you, fuck off back to reddit.
Why did Dicaprio get nominated?
He has like 10 lines of dialogue in English and his acting is just groaning and staring at shit.
>Also those flashback scenes of his wife and son
Cringe beyond words
>Why did Dicaprio get nominated?
Acting is more than just dialogue mate. if Eddie Redmayne can win the Oscar for slurring his speech and rolling around in a chair for a 100 minutes then Leo can get a nomination for putting himself through elemental hell for the sake of authenticity.
DiCaprio is a bit of a shit actor ngl
he never gets an oscar because he plays himself in every single movie he's in.
the Revnant too was alright but not being American I found it a bit cheesy, like some over the top Jeremiah Johnson or New World (both of which did similar things far better.
this feels like someone was surfing reddit for "da most ebin movie ideas" lists or some shit and chose this.
Yeah I did. Dreadful cocktail party drama. Not one noteworthy thing about it. Eddie Redmayne winning is like if Joseph Fiennes won the Oscar for Shakespeare in Love, only thankfully the Academy didn't allow that to happen.
*heartwarming trailer voice*
He was just trying to survive the cold, but it turns out things aren't so easy...
*cuts to shot of Leo getting mauled by a bear*
...when nature calls.
Leonardo DiCaprio is...The Revenant ;)
>IM WALKING ON SUNSHINE, WOAAAH WOAAAH
Let's face it it's much better than all the other crap that came pouring out of Hollywood's butthole this year.
Also it's 2016 - 6 years into the decade of meme movies, so be thankful we even get this.
