What is the Kanye West - No More Parties in LA (feat Kendrick Lamar) of film?
American Pie - College Dropout
American Pie 2 - Late Registration
American Wedding - Graduation
Band Camp - 808s
The Naked Mile - MBDTF
Beta House - Watch The Throne
The Book of Love - Yeezus
American Reunion - SWISH??
I prefer his older stuff, but MBDTF is pretty good too, so I guess this comparison was a massive waste of my time.
millennials don't listen to him mang, he's 40, a grandpa to them
but he is a GOAT of hip hop and music in our time certainly
>I don't listen to any nigger music
may disagree, and those that only know him as le angry guy from TMZ
His producing is great and original. Sure he has clear influences but he's melded them into very much is own aesthetic, constantly shifting with each release and forever influencing hip hop and music at large. His rapping is way underrated, very skilled with wordplay and with each new verse he introduces new expressions and memes into the lexicon that instantly take hold.
No, it's great. It's often simple, which I guess le intelligent hip hop heads disdain, but he can do clever just as well. And again, he's introduced more lasting, quotable phrases than just about any other rapper.
West is for people who grew up with other nigger rap shit but got exposed to one of the few who actually tries to make music
Because he is slightly better than other garbage like Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa they seem him as an amazing GOAT artist just because he isn't absolute trash and appears to be slightly smarter than the average gangbanging shit
I feel like I am exposed to a decent amount of popular music and I can honestly say I cannot think of a single kanye song or lyrics.
Possibly if I heard a song but that really shows how great he is for someone as mainstream as he is
You're the one making it really gay dude. I have a feeling, now hear me out, that you just might have dick on the brain.
>he's introduced more lasting, quotable phrases than just about any other rapper.
Kanye West fans are truly the worst. You don't know anything about hip hop if you seriously think he's the most quotable rapper of all time.
To be fair, people who listen to Kanye West score less than average on their SAT scores
I am so surprised you're referring to a tv appearance you saw on /tv/ or reddit or something and not actually any one of his tracks. It's almost as if you've never listened and have no idea what you're talking about...
Love how he triggers you ineffectual hillbillys
hey look guys, a fan of George Bush is talking about hip hop. Let's definitely listen to this opinion as it is likely educated and enlightened. Carry on my man! Who are your favourite rap groups? The classics like Wu Tang and NWA? My your taste is so refined and you have such knowledge!
>counting crows correlated to that high of a score in relation all other bands listed
>unironically using a "!"
Anyways.......back to reality:
There you go, Georg Bush saving 10,000,000 African lives. Any questions?
The vast majority of music is trash. You look like a really dumb 15-year-old if you defend some pop-rap musician with any force, just as dumb as if you defended one of the most recent pop, rock, indie, etc. "sensations."
Not that you idiotic 15-year-olds are self-aware enough to even notice any of this.
>They took all the trees
>And put them in a tree museum
>The vast majority of music is trash.
>Oh, you mean hip-hop? Yeah, that's not music
>Not that you idiotic 15-year-olds are self-aware enough to even notice any of this.
le wrong generation!
You guys must be so. much. fun!
>le right genrashun
>le kendrick lamar is better than dante
>le ayy lmao
>le black twitter memes
>le dank memes
It's pretty ironic. You think you're being witty or clever, but in reality, you sound like a total bore to be around.
>BRO plug in this hot new Kayne joint bro!
>My dad brought me this new Mercedes bro lol, i guess im just like Kayne lol!
haha this generation is unironically the worst ever. fucking queers
Sometimes the /pol/ness of /tv/ can be irritating but in this case I'm glad /pol/ has such a strong presence on here. Kanye West is a fucking hack. Only cucks and blacks think he's a genius.
>/tv/ hating on hip hop
Ok i admit Kanye is garbage, but Kendrick Lamar's music is actually fantastic. Don't know why he had to get on a track with this hack and give a Lil Wayne impression though
There is nothing that claims "I'm a cuck" more than listening to Kanye West.
they're both garbage dude
get the fuck out of my art board
>he hasn't bought every single Kanye album since the Dropout dropped
Not A Real Nigga/10
>it's a Kanye West hate thread
I love these threads. Best part is since this one is on /tv/ instead of /mu/ only a small handful of cocksuckers will defend him.
>that guy who still watches pro-wrestling and listening to Nirvana
>that one guy who still spiked his hair
>that one guy who still wore pooka shell necklaces
>that one guy who still wore blue jean shorts
>that guy still wore Ed Hardy
>that guy who still wore long sleeve t-shirts under his short sleeve shirts
>that one guy who still shopped at Holister
>that one guy who drank Monster and listened to dubstep and wore Affliction t shirts
>that guy who still listens to Kayne West
>especially you teenagers
I hated Kanye and hip hop in general in 2010, when MBDTF was realeased and I was 16. I gave MBDTF and his earlier albums a chance last year and they're all very good.(except maybe 808s and heartbreak)
They think their opinion matters.
>it's a "/tv/ thinks they know anything about music" episode
Okay. Mobb Deep is about 30 years removed from you. Let's face it, if you're black and think it's talking to you, it's not, quit fooling yourself.
I guess the equivalent is a guy listening to 1970s music about Vietnam and thinking it's about him
>it's a Kanye fan steps out of KTT, ventures accidentally into an art board and gets curb stomped after attempting to discuss mom rap episode
>it ain't me starts playing
>it's a Kanye West fans rage like babies episode
>mfw I still like Kanye from my brief months on /mu/ almost 3 years ago now
Eventually I realised what an elitist pile of shit that entire board was. Still enjoy Kenny though
>On Kanye sampling Drukqs’ “Avril 14th” on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’s “Blame Game”: “Is it a sample? I actually don't know what it ended up being in the end, I'm so slack. I know that he tried to fucking rip me off and claim that he'd written it, and they tried to get away with not paying. I was really helpful, and when they first sent it to me, I was like, ‘Oh, I can re-do that for you, if you like,’ because they'd sampled it really badly and time-stretched it and there was loads of artifacts. I was like, ‘I'll just replay it for you at that speed if you want.’ And they totally didn't even say ‘hello’ or ‘thanks,’ they just replied with, ‘It's not yours, it's ours, and we're not even asking you any more.’” [laughs]
Its probably actually /v/edditors again
>he fell for the MBTDF isn't monstrously overrated meme
>it's a Kanye West cuck won't stop crying episode
>It's a /pol/tv/ has no idea what's actually hot IRL and hilariously gets triggered by Kanye West thread
Next week we'll do Future. Actually what am I saying, you probably don't even know him yet to hate him.
Oh yeah, it's a popular thread on /tv/ but it's PROBABLY just filled with people from other boards who come here to shitpost about music, because /tv/ good boys a they dindu nutten.
>Kanye is literally Reddit
No, that's the thing. He isnt. He's a punchline there, just like Facebook, just like you know him to be. They up vote headlines about how arrogant he is and he becomes a shared point of reference for them, and you.
>its jason pretend hes has his own taste and kanye west is good whilst 15 years from /v/ that only listen to videogame soundtracks get upset thread
/mu/ reminds me of /fa/ in that it tries so hard to be an industry leader or a maverick it has forgotten what actually cultivates art. now when you walk around outside dressed like /fa/ you'll either get jumped or mocked/laughed at.
atleast with mu you can just keep your fucking mouth shut and no one is any wiser about whats popping out your headphones.
lol that production reminds me of the clash.
That bit where he accelerates up to the fruits of my labor refrain was kind of cool, transitioning into some rage against the machine type delivery is at least interesting, I found that album generally vacant though. Something about kendrick feels like a COINTELPRO attempt at redoing the 90s rap scene with a more controlled purview for discussing tha powers that b.
>because /tv/ good boys a they dindu nutten
if this was pure /tv/ only thread it would still be under 100 posters and on page 7
>people here actually think kanye west music is genius
here you go, take a sampled melody, add in other musical timbres that are variations of sampled melody, add some cringeworthy lyrics and shit rapping as usual, have mediocre singer sing a vocal melody similar to sampled melody
top kek genius brehs
>Kanye West is the greatest! How can someone dislike him?!
>I know, they haven't actually listened to his music! They're hating on him to be cool!
Kek, you Kanye fans are the most delusional cucks.
I HATE NIGGERS
Nah he's a decent musician, I only began hating him and his fans was after the enormous and never ending circlejerk over MBDTF and Yeezus.
I do not know what kind of aura he has over people, for them to hear such mediocrities and declare them AOTYs
>all these tasteless suburbanite teens who actually like Kanye
lmao, enjoy blasting "yeezy" on the way to grab some limeades at Sonic on Friday night, Tyler and Shannen. So dope XDD, amirite!!
Do people here seriously unironically like mainstream hip hop. I don't even like indie anymore since it's a soulless husk of its former self but mainstream? In 2016? It's a guy adlibing "YEE" or "HEY" in the background with some retarded spacey beats and 4 bars per song. I know old people are supposed to hate young people music but I feel you guys have to be borderline retarded to actually get into this shit.
they're impressionable youngsters. If enough magazines tell them it's cool to like something, then they like it. And all they've listened to is Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Jay Z, and pop music, so of course Shitye West sounds "interesting" to them.
>Do people here seriously unironically like mainstream hip hop
I'm this anon>>65050162
>Well J5, Dilated Peoples, early Black Eyed Peas, actual intelligent hip hop
Underground's the way to go
Nolan haters just realize the vapidness of his movies dude
Why do Kanye fans pretend everything is about the image or the public. It's ironic really, it's as if Kanye fans themselves are the people who care more about the man and the bran rather than the work. A really ugly anti-art mentality. It's probably not true, but your post still feels like projection.
He was always popular dipshit. In fact his earlier shit sold more than his recent shit. I used to be a fan too when i was a stupid teenager and I came to /mu/ several years ago to find people were unironically calling him a genius lel. Sort of turned me off
>I used to be a fan too when i was a stupid teenager and I came to /mu/ several years ago to find people were unironically calling him a genius
I was never a fan but I've been heavy into hip hop since long before anyone knew who he was and I did a 360 walkaway when I saw that shit on /mu/ too. Taylor Swift and Deathgrips are also utter garbage. I have no idea how the fuck any of those people think they know about music. They do know more about film than your average /tv/ poster though.
I think much of the hate comes down to just that, his perceive attitude. As if artists are supposed to be humble, modest, etc. Not actually listening to the songs, but judging him as an uppity ______.
You're absolutely right. They think when people criticize him they're only doing it because his persona. No i'm doing it because his music is shit. His attention whorish image is simply adding fuel to the fire
I hate Kanye because he's a poor lyricist that gained just enough clout to "innovate" by "creating" styles of production that had existed in the underground long before he ever touched an MPC. He's the fucking Steven Jobs of hip hop.
Dude fuck off lmao, you know nothing about music
>it's a Kanye West cuck refuses to stop crying episode
>He's the fucking Steven Jobs of hip hop.
Damn famicom, that's the best description Kanye ever
Yeah that's not true at all. He used influences like RZA, which he admits, which was certainly not underground, but he innovated w that soulful chipmunk shit. You can scoff at it, but that Roc sound was fresh. Jon Brion's strings on Late registration, the maximalist stadium stuff of the mid career albums... he's changed the game a number of times man.
>He's the fucking Steven Jobs of hip hop.
Yeah, that's a very good thing.
>OMG THIS MUSIC IS SHIT IN EVERY SENSE BUT IT'S GIVING ME A WEIRD FEELING SO I'M GOING TO MAKE UP A STUPID TERM TO JUSTIFY ITS EXISTENCE. I'M TOTALLY BEING NOIDED BRO.
even though I know you are just joking. they are seriously like a NiN for a generation of retards.
This would be like Refn (a newcomer) collaborating with Scorsese (established talent) and Kubrick (brilliant, aged master)
What part isn't true?
Wu Tang was underground for a long time.
> innovated w that soulful chipmunk shit
No he didn't. That had been around for years before he used it.
>he's changed the game a number of times man.
Like I said, only because he had enough clout to. Everything he did was already established in the underground. And how is it a good thing? It's not like hip hop enthusiasts are like, "gee now I can listen to top 50 and enjoy it like everyone else!" He's just capitalizing on ignorance.
>Wu Tang was underground for a long time.
It was not. They were enormous from the get-go. I'm old enough to remember.
>No he didn't. That had been around for years before he used it.
if it was around at all he popularized and perfected it.
>Like I said, only because he had enough clout to.
History's written by the winners man.
I appreciate the civil discussion tho tbvh
This thread triggered me to take an IQ test, is this a decent sore?
>he's changed the game a number of times man.
Kanye fans cite this as an accomplishment. The genre of hip hop is a popularity contest so you're always gonna have bandwagoning faggots that go along, plus a lot of black rappers are in it for a quick buck. Also just because he had strings put on his shit doesn't make him a game changer because it's already happened
imo dg fans only get a bad rep because dg itself has this fairly strong image and a lot of meme poseurs want to get in on it like it's the next big meme or something but they're not very perceptive at all.
I think the actual fans of the music itself (the non-bandwagoners) are the best 2bh and they do exist. YouTube comments distort reality a lot. the internet is an outlet for all kinds of autists.
Enter the Wu-Tang was an underground album and the album. You are probably thinking of all of the followup albums from the individual artists.
that's reaching big time
>history's written by the winners
I don't care! In the grand scheme of things he was just in the right place at the right time and did nothing special. The real reason he was a success was because he networked really well and was regarded as a funny clown amongst some very powerful people at the time. Little did they know, he was actually being 100% serious.
>>kanye beat deathgrips at there own game
is KTT really this delusional?
KTT GOON SQUAD BEING DEPLOYED AS WE SPEAK.
>hip hop teens who know nothing about music (this thread)
When you say it's better do you mean in the way that vomit is better than shit?
