a blatant attempt at expanding the star wars market to women via a pandering insert character with no flaws and ends the movie captaining the millenium falcon with chewie as her co pilot for some reason.
If i was the guy who ran disney id have demanded a female main character too and theres nothing inherently wrong with her being a chick for marketing purposes. They still couldve made it work in the movie but JJ fucked it up per usual.
>>65032532 It just hit me she ended up the new Jedi already good powerful enough to use the force and sabers with zero training, who pilots the Millenium Falcon with Chewbacca as her best buddy.... how do people not see her as a Mary Sue again?
>>65033082 They can always level up Kylo and let him kick her ass in the next movie. It would work even better with all this stronk independent woman thing going on. Luke did it for friends, Rey does it for herself and fails.
>>65033191 I honestly think it would be cool if they had Rey become more powerful and become corrupted by it with her and Kylo eventually switching places. It would be an interesting twist and I'm a sucker for a good fallen hero story.
Either Anakin reincarnated or Anakin cloned. Maybe even cloned as a female and left on Jakku by Luke himself to give her the past the original never had. Giving her the opportunity from her past experiences on both the dark and light side to finally find the balance. She is the chosen one reborn. The closing act of the prophecy. Birth, death and rebirth.
>>65033635 There's no source that she had a training either. I'd be okay with eventual explanation that The Force literally awaken in her and whatever mysterious crap they could come up with instead of being a midi-chlorian child of Luke who attended his Jedi school.
>>65033825 She did the whole closing eyes, slowing breathing, calming down shit that Yoda and Luke are both shown doing in the original trilogy. It obvious focuses a jedis power which is how she was able to fight back
>>65033825 he was also shot by wookies gun that was shown multiple times to be like a fucking rocket launcher that blew up 3 storm troopers, sent 1 guy flying across the room, etc. he stopped multiple times in the fight due to the pain. they should have had him bleeding out more to make it look fairer.
>>65033825 She didn't learn her powers. She is just rediscovering them. She is Anakin and therefor she has already trained as both a jedi and as sith.
The story in this case is not about Rey learning new things. It's gonna be about Rey finding out about both her light and dark side and ultimately being able to put the two in balance.
The similarities to the all the other movies are there to deceive people from what's really gonna happen. All this talk about who's daughter she is, is exactly what they want. At least, I hope so. If she turns out to be simply Luke's daughter, I'm gonna be pretty let down
>"i'm going to play as luke and be a powerful jedi !" >"and i'm going to play as han and travel the galaxy in the millenium falcon getting in adventures with chewie!" >"silly boys, im going to play as rey and do both!"
Maybe she's getting stronger because kylo ren is getting weaker. The force is all about balance. If KR is choosing the dark side, then the force will naturally flow through Rey with greater power because she chose the light side. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker has been battling to maintain neutrality so there isn't any more evil or good in the galaxy.
Best possible intro to Ep VIII would be for him to kill Rey without question or hesitation
>>65032593 >>65032790 Rey? No. There's a pasta describing what a dirty little whore she was, but I don't have it so let me elaborate.
Rey was a competent fighter, yes, but there came times when she needed food and water. Who had that? Portions man, the same guy that took her hand when she was abandoned on Jakku. You better believe he used her underdeveloped little girl body as a fucktoy for years until she got strong enough to resist and apply her training.
She would still have to go and take it up her ass for him if she didn't bring enough parts for portions, despite her hating every second of it. It was the ultimate degrading experience.
Remember Teedo, who she said had no respect for anyone? That's cause he and his friends would surprise her from behind and take her staff, then stick it up her ass and gang rape her. She learned to take it like a good bitch because they would sometimes leave quarter portion for her after all was said and done.
If she got in trouble with local law for brawling or something, Constable Zuvio would get his way with her.
She was famed in Nima Outpost for her cried of pain taking a massive alien dick up her tight pussy. Despite being a little whore with barely any hope of ever escaping her life of prostitution and rape, a part of her secretly enjoyed it, because she was a good slut.
One thing I never understood is why they needed the planet Jakku. Like....it's exactly the same place as tatooine. You could have just had the space battle take place there, and tons of people start scraping on that planet, like they already do anyway.
Just the name itself, Jakku, it sounds like some third world word for feces.
To me it seems like a cheap misdirection thing where they're like, "Uh....Rey is totally not related to obi-wan/luke, I mean she comes from Jakku! Not Tatooine! See, no connection whatsover there, heh, none at all, right?"
>>65035142 >Portions man in the audio book there is a lot of talk about him leering at her, etc. > didn't bring enough parts for portions + sometimes he paid less then market price so he could pressure her(not too much since other would not want the precedent )
>>65037142 I dunno, Obi-Wan and Padme like Anakin even more in II and III though they have no reason to. He gets even better in the force without having to work as hard as everyone else. He constantly treats dangerous situations like fun play time. He gets to snark to Obi-Wan.
Plus I never liked this idea of comparing VII to anything but I or IV in terms of where the characters are.
>>65037142 But little Anakin is still Anakin. The Anakin that is super intelligent and built a protocol droid by himself, that built a super fast pod, that won pod racing against experts with his pod, that destroyed the droid army control station by accident, that was conceived from scratch by midi power levels.
Rey doesn't come close to this type of super-heroness.
>>65037029 Anakin trained for years to hold a lightsaber and perform the mental tricks, Ray literally did all of that in a day after she was chased and tortured, so probably mentally and physically exhausted. Not to mention she did it against a skilled force-user trained by one of the best Jedis.
>>65037266 >luke >one of the best jedi What the fuck evidence do you have for that? That's really a separate issue though.
>Anakin trained for years to hold a lightsaber But what part of that means you can't hold a lightsaber when you're 18-20 and untrained? It's just a sword.
>and mental tricks Little bb boy Anakin was using Jedi reflexes. You have no idea how much training he needed (because that shit is never shown) to be who he was in Episode II. He's about 20 in II according to Autismpedia. I don't see Rey jumping off speeders or surviving a coliseum battle. All she does have Jedi reflexes, telekinesis, and a mind trick. It's not like she's space jesus coming from a virginal birth with the force as her dad.
>Not to mention she did it against a skilled force-user And here's the biggest thing about TFA I think people miss. Normally in a movie all or very close to all development goes to your main characters. When they succeed it's because they overcame something. Not that TFA is the first to do this, but it has a developing villain too. When Rey wins at the end, it isn't just that she overcame Kylo it's that Kylo failed and he'll learn from that. You can't attribute her win totally to her but some of the 'development points' have to go to Kylo too.
However besides that, where are you putting Kylo Ren in terms of power? He ain't no Vader or Dooku. Is he even Darth Maul tier? I don't think so. He knows more than Rey definitely. He's got more formal training for sure. He's also a conflicted bitch and we all know how being a conflicted dark side user goes in terms of losing to a less trained person (Vader in RotJ).
>>65035541 It seems like they wanted a desert planet, ice planet, and forest environment as a call back to the OT. At the same time they probably wanted new planets to get fans excited and to justify merchandise .
>>65035113 >Best possible intro to Ep VIII would be for him to kill Rey without question or hesitation No fuck you.
> If KR is choosing the dark side, then the force will naturally flow through Rey with greater power because she chose the light side. Get off your phone faggot but this part I do agree with. Not because of the natural flow bullshit, but because Kylo is a conflicted bitch. Rey is open to the force at the end while Kylo is sad about killing his dad. Being a pussy means you don't get the power boost off your emotions.
>>65037843 Luke >receives training and still gets his shit pushed in on his first lightsaber fight >receives training and can still barely move small objects >uses the force to make small adjustment for his trick shot
Anakin >is a great pilot, slightly justified because of pod racing >is a great mechanic because he's a fucking slave being used as a mechanic >pulls off retarded bullshit blowing up the droid ship by himself because mary sue
Rey >is a great pilot because "flight simulator" >is an even better mechanic because she scavenges shit >pulls off retarded bullshit beating up a guy with 10 years more lightsaber experience who just threw her 30 feet into a tree because mary sue
Anakin is only good at two things when we first meet him: building things and being a pilot. And both are well explained throughout the movie. He isn't a great warrior or general yet and succeeds in blowing up the ship mainly by accident.
Rey, in contrast, is good at everything with minimal explanation: piloting, tech, lightsaber combat, she resists interrogation, uses Jedi mind tricks, speaks Wookie, etc. She even knows to not sell the droid when offered a year's salary as if she has already read the script.
I may like the movie, but you are fooling yourself if you don't think she is a Mary Sue character. The only place her character can go now is down.
>>65038364 >She even knows to not sell the droid when offered a year's salary as if she has already read the script. This is the problem with how some people are interpreting TFA. Something happens for characterization, you know specifically to make a point, and retards treat it like a plot hole or failure of character logic.
>>65038246 Who said Rey was a great pilot? She just piloted the Falcon out of Jakku, and it wasn't a smooth flight either. She was a scavenger since she was a child, so obviously she learned mechanics. She even said that she and the boss there had already messed with some stuff in the Falcon.
In the final duel Kylo Ren was already fucked because Finn and everything that happened before. Despite that, he is obviously stronger than her and it shows - he plays with her the entire time, with each swing of his saber she is thrown back. In the end, he stops and tries to get her to join him by using the force, but she didn't want that, and instead repels him and uses the force again. It's obvious he and her have some kind of link since every time she used the force it was Kylo Ren who triggered it by using the force in her.
>>65038364 How is Rey good at lightsaber duel? Did you see the duel with Kylo Ren? She can only try to defend herself and be thrown back by Kylo's moves and desperately trying to use the saber as a staff.
>She even knows to not sell the droid when offered a year's salary as if she has already read the script I can't believe I'm reading this shit. OBVIOUSLY she didn't sell it because she became affectionate to it. Holy shit.
>Who said Rey was a great pilot? She just piloted the Falcon out of Jakku, and it wasn't a smooth flight either.
the take off was rough. Then she mastered piloting in 10 seconds and did crazy manuevers including piloting through a star destroyer requiring insanely delicate moves meant to recall deathstar trench in ROTJ. she carried finn through that whole thing and gave him an easy shot. Plus she corrected han on how to fly the falcon.
Shes an amazingly skilled and knowledgable pilot.... For some reason.
I would actually buy the familiarity with Falcon argument but she fucked up the takeoff so she was clearly uncomfortable piloting it at the start.
keep in mind the force is not a physical or technical skill you have to be an adult to do but a spiritual mindset it'd probably be actually easier to be taught if you were a small child unencumbered by adult ways of thinking and life experiences
I'd like that story arc too, and have grand master Luke step up to the plate and save the galaxy again. But its doubtful the studio would ever spin a protagonist into the villain. However, I foresee the redemption story of Kylo, since they even retconned Maleficent. Leaving no one ever permanently evil.
Plus, there is too much agenda through out TFA to parade Rey as the "first female jedi" everyone thinks she, since EU stuff of Alaya, Shak ti and Mara Jade are gone now and the shows dismiss Ahsoka.
>>65037259 >Rey doesn't come close to this type of super-heroness.
She is lighyears beyond it.
Anakin is a good pilot at an improbable age. That's it. Making protocol droids out of junk parts is no different than a kid making his own PC in our days - unusual but not outlandish.
Rey is twice the pilot Anakin was (she does not need massive luck to survive the first time she is forced to pilot an unfamiliar craft). She learns more about the Falcon in five minutes than Han Solo in forty years. She becomes a sniper without two shots of not knowing how to unlock a safety lock on a blaster. She masters the Force and lightsaber combat without any instruction whatsofuckingever. All non-villains she meets, including people established as snarky and not especially trusting (Leia) or notoriously difficult to befriend (Chewbacca) become her best friends without two minutes of interaction.
Is the Dark side a corruption of the Force? Is there even a light side of the Force? I thought it was just the force? The light side was mentioned for the first time in the movies in the trailer, but I don't think Snoke said anything about it in the final movie?
Anyone wanna explain? Is balance eliminating corruption, or keeping both morally good and bad sides of the Force in check?
>>65038947 Nerves maybe. It's simply not known how similar the Falcon is to pilot compared to other craft she would be familiar with. Meanwhile Anakin was beating decades-veteran podracers at half Rey's age, without the training that Rey is implied to have. Nobody's saying Rey isn't a Mary Sue; they're saying /tv/ is disproportionately triggered by Mary Sues compared to Gary Stus, which are commonplace in Star Wars history, because women make /tv/ butthurt.
>>65036124 You'll hear a lot of nerds come in here and defend Rey's slutty past on Jakku. They'll tell you “she had to do it" for food, water. resources, protection... The truth, and this will be revealed in the next two films, is that Rey NEEDS cock. All sorts of cock: Ithorian cock, human cock, Zabrak cock. droid cock. prehensile Hutt cock. cock of all kinds. Rey needs them in her pussy and in her pink little asshole because she's depraved. In her training with Luke on the magical island, we're going to hear all about what she did on Jakku. Glory holes, aliens runnin‘ trains on her by midnight fireside. Jawas probing her ass with metal instruments, even luggabeasts bustin' fat gallon-sized nuts on her pert little body. She is a whore. Light side, dark side... Who cares? She's on the cock side. And that's why I love her.
>>65032407 hey guys, GUYS What if she's Boba Fett's secret daughter?
No way she can Luke's. How would he find the time to have a kid without Han, Leia, 3PO, R2 ect finding out? Obi Wan's daughter/Granddaughter possibly because he just disappeared into legend as far as the galaxy was concerned. But Luke was still enough of a known presence to not get away with it
>>65040852 This is probably why we didn't see her take Finn's BBC. BBC does nothing for her now. She needs to have an interspecies gangbang to feel anything. If anyone fucks her it's gonna be Chewbacca
>>65040852 >>65041525 Thinking about it, is there any valid reason to assume Rey hasn't taken alien cock before? I mean, she's a young woman left to her own devices on a planet where very few humans live. It would have been so easy for her to just walk up to some monster thing in her little village and be like "I'm horny, you'll do."
>>65040852 Imagine rubbing her titties through her scavenger clothing. Imagine her breathing getting louder. Imagine getting her hot so her nipples point up full force. Imagine grabbing them and twisting them with your fingers while she moans. Imagine continuing this for with your thumb and indicator while using your palms to massage her breasts. Imagine her whispering for you to go on. Imagine her getting so excited that she pushes you away while experiencing climax.
>>65040756 Isn't all of Anakin's former sueness negated by what he ends up doing and becoming? Rey will never go through that and will never be villainous and we all know it even when we spout theories about her and Kylo Ren switching places. Because people believe women will get in an uproar and they'll be labeled sexist. And they'll probably be right, since apparently women don't want interesting and fleshed out female characters. They want the paragon of perfection who kicks mens' asses.
>>65032407 The classic definition of a Sue. >primary character >better than specialist characters at their own specialties >Without major explanation for any of these other than her mechanical skills, which are implied through her life as a junk salvager >Everyone likes her immediately after meeting her, even Kylo in his own way
Compare to Luke, who even in ROTJ couldn't best Vader in combat without drawing on the dark side. Luke who spends the entire first movie getting treated like a stupid country bumpkin by everyone except Obi-Wan, who was entrusted to protect him and Biggs, who was his childhood friend.
Compare to Anakin, who spends the entire first movie being treated like a stupid kid who's more of a burden than anything by everyone but Qui-Gon, who is obsessed with him due to prophecy (but still kinda treats him like a stupid kid), and Jar Jar, who is retarded. Who spends all three movies being mistrusted by the Jedi, chafing under Obi-Wan's tutelage. Anakin who has clear, and extremely powerful mommy issues that lead to his emotionally incestuous relationship with Padme and his eventual fall.
Granted, there are two more movies to develop this character, but even retarded kid Anakin was more well developed in TPM than Rey is at this point.
>>65047026 True. Considering the OT, everything about Anakin in the prequels is colored by what we already know he'll do as Vader. It doesn't really allow for him to be a Gary Stu character even when he pulls off all that amazing shit.
>>65047094 To be entirely fair, Kylo clearly knows her from the past and that factored into his treatment of her. The only way Han and Leia make sense is if she's Luke's daughter, which is pretty much a given at this point. The only other person who attached to her that wasn't somehow related was Finn, and considering his character that makes sense.
>>65040756 uh, what? That wasn't Anakin's first pod race. Watto bitched about Anakin getting his pod smashed up in the last race and Shimi complained that she hated it when Watto made him race.
Anakin was not a Stu and neither was Luke. Both characters had critical flaws and failed nearly as much as they succeeded. Both characters had to be saved on multiple occasions by supporting characters.
>>65033825 Apart from being wounded which everyone loves to point out as if they're special for noticing "WOOKIE BLASTER SO POWERFUL HURRR" He was battling a spiritual blow as well, Killing ol' man Han didn't give him the boost he was expecting, instead the light in him was deeply hurt and since he wasn't full dark side, it affected him and cocked up his fight with rey who was pretty amped up after having her new bff killed and now chomping at the bit to use her new force powers to put that emo kid in his place.
Rey is Luke's daughter. Leia and Han knew about her. When Kylo ren went to the dark side, Luke hid her away on Jakku. Then he fucked off. His reasoning was that if Rey somehow found her way back to him in hiding then he would know the force wants him to keep training Jedi.
We're getting the Jedi Queen even without the EU, fucking terrible.
I guess they're going to unnecessarily push that Father-Son-Daughter Mortis bullshit even in the new trilogy. Which means that Rey is the Second Coming of Anakin, who's ONE JOB is to sit on the Throne of Balance.
>>65033082 Well come on luke learns how to use the force and a lightsaber really fast then just jumps into an swing and takes out the Death Star considering he started out as a farm boy he too learns things too fast
