There doesn't seem to be anyone around edition
SWAMP POP (our only real lead):
This guy has a very well done breakdown of why we think swamp pop is involved:
Also today is the 8th year anniversary of the original film, if that means anything.
So everyone seems to think that it ends with Goodman killing the bearded guy, MEW Kills Goodman, escapes with hazmat suit, sees destroyed world then cut to credits
Because of a leaked email or something? Where's the source for it though? We know that's 100% reliable?
Something like that I could picture the ending something like
>mew stumbles onto an all grown up clover and it's built itself a nest or some shit
>cut back to mews reaction and we see a baby clover in the background
Then it'll probs cut to credits
There's that theory that there's actually 2 monsters in the city that a lot of people seem to put down
but... watch this clip
>explosion sounds coming from the distance
>Jets flying toward the city
Why would that be happening if the monster was RIGHT there near Rob and Hud and what's her name.
The movie takes place in 2015, 8 years after Clover hit NY.
This can only lead to an end where the earth or at least NY is a radioactive wasteland from all the nukes they dropped on Clover.
Im not memeing here but the 10Cloverfield subreddit is probably the best place to find out stuff atm
Most of /TV/ are too busy shitposting and coming up with Ebin new memes to care about movie related events atm
This has an interesting breakdown of the events of the movie and goes into the backround of the company as well. It reads as a military report after the events of Cloverfield.
JJ did not direct this film
His production company took over the film after Paramount bought it
It was filmed 2 years ago for 5 million bucks, then shelved
Look at John Goodman, still fat in the trailer, now he is skinny
The original title was "Valencia"
Girl wakes up in a shelter after an accident, thinks the end of the world is bullshit, gets out, after the killing 2 guys, finds Chicago burning from a nuclear war
Bad Robot, does a bunch of re-shoots, tack on a "new" ending and calls it " Cloverfield Lane"
Fans see the Cloverfield name, JJ Abrams and head to the theatre
Paramount makes a ton of cash from a no budget indie film, laughs to the bank
The audience gets a movie about three people in a room with a "uh-oh" ending
They should call this "Cloverfield Lame"
Please post this in every upcoming shill thread.
This is probably the worst case of lazy filmmaking i've ever seen.
I didn't give half a shit when people said there was a new Cloverfield.
Why did they fail to mention it isn't the tripe we got before, but it's a claustrophobic family based drama set in a shelter with that cast instead?
"a blood relative" of the 2008 film Cloverfield. -JJ
I mean. Well who the fuck says that about a film that had one of the most recognized ARG's since what? Halo 2? (Halo's was way more intricate)
It only means one of three things though.
1. It's a direct sequel to Cloverfield (Blood relative in regards to the film)
2. It's in the likeness of Cloverfield (Blood relative in regards to the in film monster)
3. It means nothing and it's just a likeness OR it just means fucking nothing.
However if this is all true, it kind of makes me lose hope. I mean Hollywood has the money, it's not like they COULDN'T make another film. Honestly it better not be a cookie turned into a cake. They could have just baked a fresh fucking cake.
On the flip side, slusho really makes me want to have a 7/11 slurpie, slurpies are god of king men.
Take a look at >>65025705
It all fits in. Everything. What YOU mean is during the 2 hours of shaky cam where the fuck is....
What? the Slusho mega corporation who also happens to have military contracts try to come in and stop the bio-chemical weapons/monsters they created (by accident) with little slusho arm bands and slusho rifles? but then fail and they have to nuke it all.
If that's the case go watch Resident Evil. Or play it.
This film was, in it's purest form a monster film that used shaky cam to give it a more "realistic" approach. Along with that was the ARG.
The way it was intended?
>Play/follow the ARG,
>the film ties it all together
How it went because of normies (hate to say it, but most people don't spend hours waiting for some hidden sound track to pop on a site)
>understand little to nothing
>find some youtuber discuss the ARG
>Oh that's pretty cool, oh well.
That's what happens man.
Every proof you faggot need can be found on wikipedia with the links to the respective interviews.
The movie was shot in 2014 when Goodman was still a fat blob, pic related.
That is correct, that it was filmed on 2014 with a budget of 5 million. Your theory about reshoots and how they changed it to something else is what has literally no proof that makes no sense.
the source is a reddit post by someone who gave up a lot of original information. like the title post-Valencia title The Cellar, the twitter of a guy who saw it back in 2015, and the original script, so it's pretty legit.
Of course a lot of things could have happened during the re-write so it's idiotic to write it off as completely unrelated. Maybe JJ + Godard had an idea and merged it with Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken's movie, which was originally passed on by Paramount.
also meant Goddard not Godard. That would've been a completely different movie...
How big would a grown-up Cloverfield monster be? The baby alone (not even a baby, a fucking newborn) was bigger than several incarnations of Godzilla, so how big would an adult be? Like 15 miles tall?
not the same film at all. the original script is from the reddit link. All the scenes from the trailer except 2 are in it.
Test screening was held in November and someone who saw it said it has virtually nothing to do with Cloverfield.
an "incomplete film" isn't exactly uncommon in screen testing.
I saw the screen testing of "The Rugrats" and alot of scenes weren't colored, as well as a bunch of songs weren't in it.
So i think the main plotline to the film is the people in the bunker where took down there in all the chaos of the destruction of the city with Clover. Or the big guy knocked them both out and placed them underground to protect them etc
They both escape and see the destruction of the city.
Maybe they are somehow connected to the characters in the first movie like friendship/family wise?
Really looking forward to seeing more of Clover and maybe we will get more background on the monster and where it originally came from.
you could just google this shit but I guess that's too complicated for your mongoloid brain
seems to me the monster that size that we see eating him was much to small to be able to do the level of damage we see,
is it possible that was cloverbaby and the other mosnter destroying city was mama looking for him
>All the scenes from the trailer except 2 are in it
No fire scene, no jukebox scene, no sandwhich scene, no puzzle scene, no ceilling tremor scene, no bottle smashing scene, no barrel scene
that's just them killing time in the bunker, not really a plot point. The fight & escape is in the script. Ceiling tremor probably follows the "somerhing's coming" line, which is in the script.
>The fight & escape is in the script. Ceiling tremor probably follows the "somerhing's coming" line, which is in the script.
Both of those scenes are different in the script and the third character nate is completely different in the script and has no cast
They were whales yeah
Found this little detail in the trailer and it looks like the Goodman isn't so good after all you guys...what do you make of this?
they uploaded this today. It's just the store listing image without the sold out message. number is separated by periods.
oh and yeah the swamp pop one.
it was also the logo back when it was titled Valencia.
This is gonna be updated at some point with more hints
If you guys are following this, I'd say get subscribed to swamp pop youtube channel.
One video so far, and almost definitely has nothing to do with cloverfield, but I find it hard to believe they'll just leave this entirely
wait WHAT WHAT.There's gonna be another Cloverfield?!
I can't wait to go and laugh at the normies puking their guts out as they try to tolerate what their feeble digestive systems can't handle: great cinema.
Most they might do is reboot it, imply that it could have followed on from the original but never truly admit to being a sequel
Sequels don't get made after this long a gap, they would have even less appeal
Not to bring reddit into this but...
Someone from reddit messaged Swamp Pop about buying the 'long-term-shelter-supply' thing.
Got this reply.
If its real its probably the biggest proof so far. I'm gonna message them too and see if they respond to me
What does it mean? from all the dots on the map, it's the only one with a little guy on it
> blood relative of Cloverfield
> Tagruato finds Seabed's Nectar at the bottom of the sea and it's somehow related to Clover
> Slusho! is produced
> Swamp Pop finds Swampland's Nectar
> it's somehow related to the movie
I think I'm onto something.
portal definetly but i think half life could have a chanse, with the right pacing, some chapterx would be a 5 minute montage (like on a rail) and gordon would try to survive with a bunch of scientists who explain all the shit gabe explained in intervies instead of in the game, also i think peter capaldi would be good for Gman
> El Paso
Fuck, what's this for? Is it a map of Clovie's rampage?
The Cloverfield tracker bonus feature on the DVD only shows one monster.
Having said that obviously there is a breeding population for the species and the manga did show multiple more of them.
But the bunker is believed to be in Louisiana, nowhere near New York city.
If true, that means all hell has broken loose and it has spread.
The swamp pop does mention an incident on the Eastern seaboard.
Someone did post screenshots of the monsters head through different parts of the film and the teeth and head ridges definitely are different between the two and it isn't a different angle situation either.
So the animators fucked up or there are two of them.
Looks like I'm buying some Swamp Pop, then.
Everyone here is going to pirate the movie when it gets released on trackers.
No one here except for maybe a select few actually leave their houses and go to the movie theater. Don't a fucking retard.
I think Clover's design is kind of boring so I hope there are other monsters.
There is no way in hell that the swamp pop guys aren't in on it.
The price and the bunker supply I could see them doing it by themselves to milk the hype for profit, but that obscure logo from the previous incarnation is too much of a coincidence.
>Transfer data directly to your mind
So they pulled a Tranquility Lane when they went into hiding from Cloverfield?
Cloverfield confirmed prequel to the Matrix.
I wonder what "humid" could mean.
Maybe the monster was so pissed off in the first because its skin was drying out so migrated down to the swamps of Louisiana for the humidity or something.
I'm not American (yes I know, I'm sorry. Please forgive me), and I just noticed that Louisiana is by the gulf coast. Cloverfield appearing there suddenly seems a lot more plausible now.
probably just a reference to the Long-Term Shelter Supply needing dry storage.
gotta say that tweet was pretty out of character for an ARG. It came from nowhere and didn't result in anything.
The Pacific Rim talk is based on the directors Instagram picture showing a Gundam model he built next to two Cloverfield models both positioned looking ready to pounce on the Gundam.
Seabed's Nectar (Kaitei no mitsu) is the secret ingredient for Slusho! It is highly addictive and seems to affect the human mind if eaten in its raw form. "Discovered on the deep ocean floor, under amazing pressure and extreme cold." The Parasites found on Clover's body have extremely high levels of Seabed's Nectar in their blood, and have been photographed digging into the ocean floor near the site of Chuai Station.
It has one mouth, and two tubes coming out of its stomach to directly bring food in it.
They did a tie in manga only released in Japan so all versions in English are fan translations which at times are very poor.
It is a prequel and has details on the Slusho company building the oil rig to study the monster and a terrorist group stealing their secrets to expose the company as evil etc etc.
But then it does the manga thing and the main character is a teenage boy and he had clover DNA implanted in him so he can control the monster an parasites and he finds his honour after seeing the harm it does and faces the monster to get rid of it.
Clover kind of destroys a city in Japan so its existence would have been well known by the time it hit NY. That and a few other things make people unsure of if its canon or not.
> According to the second chapter of Cloverfield/Kishin, this ingredient is heavily implied to be components made of Kishin Aiba, his mother and the monster itself.
SEABED NECTAR IS PEOPLE!
Except the bomb used at the end was non-nuclear and even if it was it would only be a relatively localised issue.
The bunker is speculated to be in Louisiana which is nowhere near NY.
We're agreed that the apocalypse in this film was caused by the Human Sized Parasites that appeared in Cloverfield, right?
The Blu Ray military commentary says that they were considered just as big a threat as Clover and were equal justification for HAMMERDOWN.
Who's a good little parisite? Who? Who? Aaaah, good boy.
i just dont get it....
Sperglords on tv cry and bitch about muhh viral marketing at everything, but still, these shill threads have been here for 3 consecutive days, and all of hthem reached 200+ posts.
Nice marketing Dan. You truly know your audience.
I didn't say that they weren't dangerous, just not man sized.
Yeah, human sized as in not a giant monster. You did actually watch the film didn't you?
>The monster was covered in 2,000 Parasites that are roughly the same weight and height as a dog. They have 10 legs consisting of six spider-like, double jointed limbs and 4 "pincers" on the top and back of its body. They have very large jaws, pale gray skin and multiple black eyes.
The military commentary says at least 2000. There's no way they would be able to contain them with all the chaos. If they were able to escape the blast radius and breed, humanity would be fucked.
The thing with those parasites is an armed and careful adult would have no issues wiping them out.
The scene with the soldier running away from a parasite with his rifle pointed behind him firing triggered me.
The hipster main characters killed several without a gun through the film. A soldier with a rifle could take many out by himself.
The Wiki says it was covered in 2,000 parasites.
>humanity would be fucked
They were small and weak, easily killed by being hit with what ever the MC picked up. They would be wiped out easily.
Don't forget that the stomach popping ability is down to concentrated sea nectar injections. Those born in New york wouldn't have access to any sea nectar and the ones already there would run out eventually.
A couple of rounds would end them.
I remember leading up to the film people figured that you'd only explode if you'd been bitten whilst you still had Slusho in your system.
Didn't the Slusho Website have some stuff silly cartoon stuff about bursting if you drank it?
> They were small and weak, easily killed by being hit with what ever the MC picked up.
Yes, on their own, but it's pretty clear that they are pack hunters. One man with a rifle would probably be able to easily kill a parasite. Thirty of them? Not so much.
Fear factor, imagine seeing those things dropping off from the monster, then sprinting at you like the fucking devil.
I'd be surprised at not running the fuck out of there because of the giant monster fucking everything up.
Except the military wouldn't be one guy with a gun, it'd me multiple soldiers all armed. One soldier with an automatic weapon could likely take out a good few, and I imagine those that weren't hit would attempt to flee.
Hud was half eaten and the top half fell out of the monsters mouth. I remember during the original ARG the day before release Huds Myspace (remember that?) page his height was changed from 6 foot to 3 foot.
I have seen people say that those little arms on its chest were picking people up to feed a second mouth in the torso.
I remember years ago on IMDB someone saying there was deleted footage of a close up of it eating like that but never actually checked it out.
> Except the military wouldn't be one guy with a gun
Right, but the military wouldn't be able to be everywhere at once. The overwhelming majority of attacks would be on civilians, probably lone ones. That's why they're so dangerous if they get out of containment. The damage those things could do to rural areas, or even lightly defended urban ones, would be devastating.
>Don't forget that the stomach popping ability is down to concentrated sea nectar injections.
You got it backward I think, they developed that ability to be able to pierce Clover's skin and suck off its nectar-filled blood.
Well I mean, there's only so far the parasites would be able to reach. They wouldn't suddenly be on the West Coast the next morning, and if Clover was taken out by Hammerdown (which I assume it must be if in-universe the footage was recovered), there's only a limited space for them to hide.
I imagine the entirety of America, let alone New York, would be on a major lock-down whilst this was taken care of.
>if Clover was taken out by Hammerdown (which I assume it must be
>"It's still alive"
> there's only so far the parasites would be able to reach
Why? They were clearly in the subway tunnels, they could have easily made it out of Manhattan before HAMMERDOWN came (those in the tunnels could have survived the blast as well).
They wouldn't be in California in one day, but they're fast, intelligent and hard to track down. If they breed quickly (which has yet to be determined), it could spiral out of control quickly.
It didn't have a second mouth the "feeding tubes" just carried food into its digestive track. There was apparently a scene that was filmed or just in the script where it was seen eating horses with them.
Also when Marlena was freaking out about the monster "eating people" right when he first showed up, she was most likely referring to these.
1st Cloverfield had a lot of viral marketing and ARG stuff. There were lots of fun /tv/ threads dedicated to finding out more about the mysteries of it.
Which is why the memers like this shouting "SHILL" are probably born after 9/11. they don't remember the glory days of /tv/ before /pol/ started bleeding into every board
Now you have revealed yourself as a redditor trying to rewrite history. pol hasn't bled into anything, 4chan has always been racist and the very concept of 4chan being a hugbox is laughable. Please walk in front of a bus.
>tfw I have the Cloverfield figure and am now going to get some Swamp Pop
Dont give a fuck what haters say, in hyped as shot for the return of Cloverfield.
This movie will be garbage
The plot will be garbage
The ARG will go nowhere and lead to no real or captivating information that will connect with the movie, just like with Cloverfield
This is a shill thread
Every thread for this movie is a shill thread
Literally Reddit the marketing campaign
Fuck off and die
Has there ever been an ARG that was stand alone? Like one made using a full game production budget instead of a few pennies of the marketing budget?
The concept is great, people around the world working together to hunt for clues to solve a big puzzle and getting backstory.
I know the Halo 2 one involved people finding co-ordinates in puzzles that ended up being payphones and you had to be there for a set time to receive a phonecall that was a pre-recorded message and this happened all over the world.
I would love one that was ongoing and for something bigger than just a film.
>The ARG will go nowhere and lead to no real or captivating information that will connect with the movie, just like with Cloverfield
Except for the fact it did. You were just too young and didn't know how to read. You seem to have learned a little bit more sense then.. but not by much.
That's rad as fuck. I saw a review of the figure and it's crazy-poseable, double joints fucking everywhere yeah?
I don't collect figures although I have a few from my youth, but I can appreciate collectibles of any form.
He has the gils out in the figure, you see them very quickly in the film.
Thanks man, yeah hes super articulated but in a weird way. His fingers are crazy jointed but you cant make him into too many poses.
Can't be, they screamed at HUD when clover was on top of him, Clover attacked and when he fell, they both ran to him and spent a few moments yelling in his face. All while clover is supposed to be literally two step away having lunch.
Ah ok, I guess it's more for maybe running and attacking. You should try making a short stop-motion animation of him. Pretty sure with that range of movement you can make some realistic movement and idle animations.
Oh man I forgot this fucking thing
And you could go on every board without people crying about being triggered and you should go back to /pol/ before reddit was created too.
>you could go onto boards without retards going on about... ...you could go onto boards without retards going on about
It's funny because many of the old memes revolve around blacks and you are just outing yourself as a triggered redditor more with every post.
Nigger stole my bike
Mega double gigga nigga
All long predate you, redditor.
If they're parasites they're quite selectively evolved to live off the host animal. It was retarded to have them hunting after the characters, the idea of them taking over the world without any more hosts is even moreso.
Yeah that is one piece of bullshit that you couldn't suspend your disbelief even in a giant monster rampage film.
Clover was right there. I'm sure the director said after eating the one human it darted for it suddenly turned around and went in another direction instead of eating the other two humans in front of it.
In reality the director just wanted a cool shot and to end the film with the two lovers telling each other that they loved each other before being killed in the blast.
Since they give away whats going to happen in the movie. Are we supposed to endure 30 mins of no plot in a bunker before Ramona flower breaks freeto the surface? Are they staying away from the radiation from the failed killings of the monsters or has the above ground turned into a mist like scenario with those parasites took over besides the giant monsters? Does the giant monsters now have the kaijus sense of people like pacific rim? because that shit was never established. Seems like the big ass monster really didn't bother anyone unless people were in front of it or attacking it. Thank Christ the found footage inst in this one.
If there was only one monster, and it was feet away from the main cast at the end of the movie, why did jets keep flying past them and bombing the main city? Surely they would notice a giant monster up there
>V A LEN CIA
>V CIA LANE
Slusho was the reason the main character had a party for him thrown, the reason he's moving abroad, the reason his girlfriend was fighting with him and why she wasn't there/he needed to find her.
It's called World Building/Lore. It made a more credible and engrossing experience, because followers of the ARG were already invested. the movie was pretty much a big epic payoff to their detective work. Not everything has to be explained and spoonfed to you.
Confirmed debunked with the blu-ray. Has a Special Investigation mode where you watch the movie with a small map of Manhattan on the side. the map shows the main characters are clover as blips so you see their location at all times.
Sea bed nectar is such an obvious plot device, they should leave the origins ambiguous.
Also, it'd make more sense for the freaky parasites from the freaky monster to have some sort of freaky bacteria in their mouths, like it all comes from an completely unknown eco-
system, and the bites cause cause an explosive reaction due to the bacteria behaving differently because of the heat and lack of pressure on the surface (coupled with mammalian biology) acts as sort of stimulant.
That way they could keep that cool explosive gimmick and add another threat to the mix, making it so humanity is being attacked on 3 major levels: infrastructure, physical, and biological - an apocalyptic scenario if I ever saw one.
Well, the BluRay had a feature that was a GPS tracker that showed the monster's position relative to that of the main characters, it was only one at all times.
There are more monsters, yeah, but only one shows up in the movie, and I doubt they'll show up en masse in 10CL. One 'waking up' is supposed to be a very rare occurrence, only being cased by people fucking with the deep sea environment.
Remember how fun the first ARG for Cloverfield was? Remember all the back story it revealed like the fact that Clover woke up thanks to Japanese mining the bottom of the ocean for a soft drink? Remember how none of it was mentioned or even hinted at in the movie and the ARG revealed nothing about the plot or even really what the monster looked like? Rememeber how it was just a fucking waste of time at the end and only got you hyped for a movie that ended up being a steaming pile of shit? Yeah let's not do this again.
I dunno, I quite like having this natural compound that is just too dangerous for consumption. It promotes growth and rapid cell division, gives you a feeling of pure happiness and acts like a steroid on steroids. But it's extremely addictive.
Clover and the parasites have been feeding on this shit for thousands of years and have mutated beyond reason. They could've been just simple arthropods or whatever at the start.
It explains the danger of the bites beautifully. The parasites have such a high concentration of Seabed's Nectar that a bite delivers so much of it into a human that they can't handle the spontaneous "evolution" and pop like fucking grapes. It's horrifying.
You're right, I've read some shit about the monsters having claws or not in certain shots being used as "proof" but there's just not enough footage of the monster to know either way
That being said, that official manga did show multiple monsters existing. However the military commentary captions only mention the LSA as a singular entity
>there's just not enough footage of the monster to know either way
yes there is. there's only one, like it says in the script and every single piece of promotional material.
in the DVD Extras they talk about the conception of the movie and how they came up with the idea of the parasites because they needed smaller scale tension to contrast with the giant scale monster. Nowhere do they ever claim there were two monsters.
Since i'm new to all of this, i'm reading the whole Cloverfield wiki and it's specified "that the whisper after the credits states that the monster is still alive, however, J.J. Abrams states that the military bombing killed the creature" so what's the truth? Or maybe the whispering meant that there is an another creature (the mom?)
The Jumanji remake will be have a more "modern" African board. So when when you roll instead of lions, elephants and shit coming out now there will be black guys with machetes and AK-47s, ebola and starving children children with distended stomaches will emerge on bad rolls.
