Fairy tales not given a retarded horror makeover or done by Disney are always met with intense skepticism from the public. You think they would have learned from that Jack and the Beanstalk movie. Or even more recently, with that stupid Moby Dick movie they must have known was going to bomb. Not a fairy tale but most people treat it like such.

The tribe is no longer Native Americans, they're instead the "Neverland Tribe" (or something to that effect) made of a mix of all different races. The leader is an Aboriginal Australian, Tiger Lily is white, the tribe's main warrior is Asian.
Basically, the filmmakers had to either use the American Indian "Picaninny" (it's actually called that in the books) tribe or to get rid of it, and either way everyone was going to call them racist. They went with the multiracial tribe and everyone accused them of whitewashing Tiger Lily's role.

Is this still the best Peter Pan adaptation?

I felt like the "smells like teen spirit" scene was was originally envisioned as a legitimately great scene, but due to a lost screenplay or not writing it down in time, it was lost a number of fine details (and they couldn't remember the right song) making it just painful.
