I think the whole 80s comeback is going to evolve into something bigger,best example I can think of is Moonbeam City, which had an 80s influenced artstyle, but the whole setting and everything was really futuristic. Synthwave is pretty big too now in the musical scene and spawns a bunch of other stuff like vaporwave and future funk. I love it because we are starting to incorporate the best things of the 80s, namely artstyle and music to futuristic stuff and it's pretty radical

Fulci has some great stuff. A personal favorite of mine is "Murder Rock", athough it's not specially gory. It gives me the chills though. It's flashdance exploitation. Carpenter Brut used scenes for his "Le Perv" video.
Other good ones are "Don't torture a duckling" and "The Psychic". The "Don't torture a duckling" one is your typical rural Italian town movie. The intro made me hold from watching it for some days, it was too chilling.

Also, some neo-giallo, really well made to the point it actually looks from that era: "The Editor" (2014). It was crowdfunded and it's great.

Maybe it's because back in the 80s the Cold War hadn't finished and people lived life to its fullest, because they didn't know if they were going to get hit by a Russian nuke the next day. Most of the cool stuff we have today is just dumbed down stuff from the 80s. Just look at modern action movies, they're a disgrace except for maybe Stallone's Expendables and Statham's stuff from the early 2000s (The Transporter and other similar films).
