are you guys saying this was embarrasing for peter? because matthew perry came across as a self righteous prick. of course addiction is real but he seemed extremely unprepared and careless. its that indoctrinated american mind i think.
>You will never be good at public speaking
>You will never blow liberals the fuck out for a living
Why even live?
Must be hard being Peter. Always following in your brothers footsteps, then suddenly realising you'll always be outshined by him. So you flip a 180 and walk in the complete different direction, so you can also be the loved Hitchens. Then your brother gets cancer and dies, ensuring he'll forever be remembered and loved/hated by everyone, and no one ever remembers you.
I'm confused about it to be honest. They were both pretty embarrassing. Perry didn't put his arguments across very well at all but I wouldn't really expect much more from a guy who's biggest accomplishment is Friends. And Hitchens just talked a lot of old cobblers, just in his usual "I'm unflappable so I'm right" way. And he came across just as childish with his remark at the end which was just him having to get the last word in. All in all the only ones who did ok we're the baroness and based Paxman. I'm not sure why everyone's creaming themselves over Hitchens as though he comprehensively destroyed Perry.
i was confused by the pictures people were posting in the thread and couldnt tell if they were taking the piss out of hitchens or not, plus in the video everybody seemed to be against hitchens. also perry resorted to petty name calling and false interrogation after he couldnt come up with any original ideas so i assumed in the thread people were like "LOL PERRY CALLED HITCHENS SANTA LOL". and you're right, hitchens did annihilate him.
i agree. its very clear to me now.
Yeah, the guy squirting him might be a faggot but he's Tom Cruise. I would have thought he could shake something like that off with laughter although the comparsions to pranks are making me reconsider my original position. I hate those cunts.
so is running off like a baby because somebody is parring you off and out-witting you every comeback. Its her fault for trying to instigate tension with him then when it falls back on her and makes her look stupid she cries "h-hes an asshole, hes so hard to interview etc". Maybe if she or you had some sembalance of wit you'd be able to keep up with him. Or at least confront him without trying to one up him and being out-done like she does.
It's not fucking genetic.
>Both sides of my family runs rampant with drug addicts and alcholics
>Grew up around them all
>To top it off, I'm a fucking Irishfag, how typical
>Always knew from a young age that to start is your choice and stupid as fuck
It's because Cruise is a hardcore narcissist.
He is secretly insecure, but projects this huge persona. Someone secure, like Fassbender or Brenan Gleeson would've laughed it off, or even if they got a bit annoyed, they wouldn't have detained the guy and asked for a philosophical reason for pulling a stupid, childish prank.
I thought she was being pretty pleasant throughout to be honest. I don't feel she was provoking him in any way, just trying to do a fun interview. He showed a really nasty side to his character in that interview.
Well people can have a genetic disposition of being more likely to become addicts. It runs in my family too, but i'm aware of it and i make sure i don't succumb to it. Us who are likely to become addicts just have to be a bit more careful than everyone else.
the first step to recovery is admitting you're a drug addict
maybe if you're a narcissist but in most cases a lot of people are ashamed of it and don't want to talk about it
Well done not finishing the sentence, autist.
Stop being so solipsistic. Just because you're over-sensitive and insecure, doesn't mean everyone else is.
Notice how all the secure actors were laughing their heads off at the Golden Globes, while all the insecure narcissists weren't?
There are some interesting studies on heroin addiction after the war in vietnam and there's really no correlation with social background having an addictive personality, a weak correlation with high IQ actually. Maybe you should try to do some research before you jump to idiotic conclusions.
There's heaps of articles out there, here's the first that came up in search.
>dawkins versus brandon flowers
>this can't be real
>click on it
Addiction is a fictitious condition. There is no medical basis for it.
No 'condition' makes you inject yourself with drugs. It is entirely due to a shedding of personal responsibility under the guise of blaming something external and that "it can't be my fault, not really."
It is an utter disgrace that such pseudo-scientific nonsense has a place at the table of policy.
you're making your argument worse. you should actually link a thesis or essay with verifiable sources. that article you linked has no citations at all. how do you know the person who wrote this article didnt just start spewing shit for no reason?
>that trademark chuckle as he walks away
I've done stimulants, painkillers, even alcohol to the point of serious withdrawals, it's never impacted my life and I would never call myself a drug addict
That whole mentality is pathetic
I didn't say that, his whole arguing style makes him look like a beta bitch
He argues like a liberal
>find me an objective diagnosis of addiction
there's no objective diagnosis of anything
Stopped listening right there. What a fucking idiot and a faggot he must be.
>How do you describe hoarders? Alcoholics? Smokers? Gamblers? People who check facebook compulsively? People who have any compulsion?
I would describe them as weak willed; which is exactly what they are. The only thing preventing someone stopping a gambling problem is there own lack of personal responsibility.
What is the medical basis for such a thing as addiction? You still haven't provided one.
Almost every Western country has deciminalised most drugs, there is de facto decriminalisation across Europe.
You can't falsify it because we don't actually enforce drug laws. Nobody gets put in prison for carrying small amounts of cannabis.
But we can look at countries which have very strict laws, and low and behold, Singapore has one of the lowest drug use rates in the world
>there are people in the year 2016 that oppose the legalization of marijuana even though they have nothing against alcohol.
Either you oppose both or you are a degenerate.
so it sounds to me like you've just discovered some humans are more/less resilient than others. for arguments sake, i will say addiction doesn't exist and there is a choice. i think the choice of choosing a drug over sobriety is more to do with the escapism than the drug itself. that feeling of distortion and a lack of ego is less demanding than that of a sober mind. although to me, i dont think free will exists at all and we're all acting on biological and evolutionary dispositions, distracting ourselves from the fear of death
>What rational healthy person would make that decision? None. Therefore an addict is not a healthy rational person.
That's like saying all criminals are irrational, or all people who take dangerous risks are irrational. You're just absolving people of free will.
Look at this chart and then try to claim that the War on Drugs is not a big scam.
Free will is a myth rooted on religious nonsense. We are biological machines that respond to stimuli.
Well if you've read the thing you'd know it references an actual research that resulted in analyzed data, the information wasn't just pulled out of thin air. And I emphasized the fact that I pasted the first article I've found, I don't really feel like meticulously combing the web to prove some random moron on 4chan wrong when it's obvious he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Only rejects, NEETs and literally autistic STEM rats describe psychology as a "pseudoscience" nowadays. It's come long way from Freud's fantasy writing, you know?
>Muh drug incarcerations
Look at the crime stats
People in prison ONLY for drug crimes is so rare
it's like 4% of the prison population
Almost always they commit another crime and they have drugs on them
I think 60% are violent crimes
All these interviews with poor kids in jail for 10 years just for selling weed once are 1 in 10,000
>People in prison ONLY for drug crimes is so rare
Why is that republicunts have to literally lie in order to make arguments?
>the breakdown of religion and family caused the rise of selfish, degenerate behaviour
Well of course. It's an inevitable result of the rise of capitalism.
>It's come long way from Freud's fantasy writing, you know?
>go to a therapist because I'm feeling down
>tell him briefly that I had problems with my mother along with other conversations about childhood
>says that I still have a psychological attachment to my mother and was insufficiently nurtured in my neo-natal years and that this is causing my current depression
Psychology- not even once.
>their field is so weak that they don't even have industrial standards
If I went to any dentist and they performed witchcraft on my molars they'd have their license revoked.
>I CAN RESIST TEMPTATION FROM LUCIFER HIM SELF, I DON'T GIVE AF WHAT ANYONE THINK OR IF PEOPLE ACTUALLY GET BETTER! LOCK EM UP, EVERY HUMAN BEING. EMOTION ISN'T REAL
great debate Peter as always you disprove human biology with your crime policies
A friend of mine starts to feel sick if he doesn't smoke weed, my own father gets very cranky if he doesn't get it, another fella I know gets restless and can't sleep if he doesn't get weed for a day or two.
Call it whatever you want, I know from experience that most weed heads have a problem and many are unkempt and scummy people.
I've met a handful of people who smoke a lot of weed who are decent, the other undesirable kind I could fill a football field with,
Then was physics before Einstein also pseudoscience? Or is current, post-Einstein physics pseudoscience? Is light a particle or a wave? How do black holes exist?
Physics, not even once.
>You will never get so drunk celebrating the success of the Twilight films that you piss on the carpet in an airport departure lounge, killing your career in Hollywood.
this is how eisenberg keeps getting roles
he's a quick thinker and pretty witty, so the casting directors take to him well
but then he acts and it's a disappointment because he has no range
>giving celebrities air time with their 'opinions' vs people who actually study this shit for a living
Can't stand this shit to be honest family, glad they keep getting BTFO though.
I seriously don't get Hitchen's argument. To claim that addiction doesn't exist because its not literally impossible to overcome doesn't make sense, most people would not define addiction in that way anyway.
If it isn't impossible to overcome, then it is possible to overcome. If it is possible to overcome, drug abusers have no excuse for taking illegal drugs and arguments for going easy on them in the criminal justice system fall apart. Arguments about the role of druggies in the criminal justice system rely on the definition Peter is refuting as a premise.
It is not impossible to overcome but extremely difficult. What's this black and white view where its either impossible to overcome or they can just quit easily?
>Arguments for going easy on them in the criminal justice system fall apart.
I'm not some dude drugs lmao guy so I'm not well-versed in these arguments, but I thought these were based more around the idea that leniency etc. actually works better in terms of stopping drug abusers, not clogging up jails etc.
As Peter demonstrated that isn't true. It's better to be harsh if you truly wish to Crack down on drug use. Part of being harsh is forcing people total alert responsibility for actions which they are responsible for.
Perry's argument is weak and feeble because it's instep with every other liberal argument trying to diffuse responsibility from the victim. What's really shocking here is that liberals continue to live in a fantasy land where this approach works
>Tfw you try to prevent violently forcing yourself upon a woman but the allergy of the body kicks in and the head goes: RAPE RAPE RAPE
>everybody out there has this feeling of anxiety about when's the next one
>there's a feeling about shootings and violence now different than the 90s
>i'm talking about ground level, water table (what?), feeling that's in peoples' bones
this interviewer guy's a scaredy cat, i'm surprised he was able to work up enough courage to leave his house
>my own father gets very cranky if he doesn't get it
awww diddums not get his botty
izzums aww mad now
some of us take actual antidepressants that don't undermine our intellect over the years, nice knowing your dad
>While the removal of Hussein was arguably necessary
In no meaningful sense
> but he was a BAD MAN
that's nice, are we removing Syria's regime?
> HE WAS BAD
he was also the stabilizing force between warring clans which you have no fucking plan for resolving now that he's gone
Addiction is defined as compulsive engagement in a stimulus that could be considered rewarding.
Physical addiction is caused by altered or abnormal chemical signals or balances in the brain
A disease is defined as an abnormal condition that affects one or more bodily functions.
Therefore physical addiction is a disease. Non physical addictions are debatable.
>an effective deterrent criminal justice system will prevent people from becoming drug users
What a load of shit. That's exactly what we have in america for pot and it doesn't work at all. We've been ruining peoples lives for decades and haven't accomplished a god damn thing.
>"One of the most shameful nights of my life was the night my brother brought home Helena. Busty, tight arse, blowjob lips. Everything. Literally everything I dream about every night.
>He fucked her. He fucked her in front of his virgin little brother. In every which way he could, and took his time doing it. His blue eyes staring into mine looked like that of a corpse's.
>Yet at that moment he was experiencing pleasure I knew that I never could.
>At one point she stopped sucking (Complete with the horrendous, loud sound of suction being cut off), and said with the uttermost of venom in her strong Brooklyn accent: "what the fuck is wrong with you"?
>"I don't know .." I replied.
>My admittedly rather well endowed brother then bent her over and took her from behind .. vaginal. The stare continued, a haunting expression of what to this day I still am still not sure what of. Although I do suffer from Asperger's Syndrome, I do believe that even the most emotionally capaple human being would have trouble reading it.
>She screamed and moaned and slowly called his name in a rather erotic manner. It was then that I became aroused, and then it suddenly hit me properly: here I stood, with an erection, watching my atheist degenerate brother enjoying this young maiden. I knew life would never ever be the same.
- excerpt from the biography of Peter Hitchens
The only effective deterrent would be death sentences for drug addicts. Even if it didn't really work, we would remove the dregs of society and prevent them from having children, spreading disease, and causing crime.
He's talking about hardened addicts who destroy their lives, often robbing and hurting people to feed their habit, then plebs like Chandler cry that it's a disease and that they are not responsible for their actions. Your convenient meme image is completely wide of the mark in this case.
Obviously it's bullshit that they're not responsible for their actions. My point is that if you want to throw those people in jail, do it for the assault and robbery, not for breathing a thing.
At 1.33 it looks like he's checking Dawkins out. Kek
Dude is a funny writer. Still, not super thrilled he's dating my next-meryl-streep waifu,
anyone post this yet?
>oh good lord
>Grows brain cells
Definitely not, it's partly a depressant drug. But I'm sure the author of this image thinks "dude depressant must mean like it makes you depressed and shit mayn, weed ain't that yo" like the retarded pothead he is.
Pretty sure there have been road deaths due to driving under the influence of weed.
Peter was FAR better before he jumped on the Atheist train.?
His debates(especially with his brother) are nothing more than masturbatory rants that don't address anything the opponent said. He basically regurgitated his arguments over and over, ignoring any potential rebukes his opponent would make.
He was better than this, at one point in his life..
Jesus fuck, who thinks, in any state of mind, that this is alright to do?
Isn't it scientifically proven that your brain gets fucked up when addicted to something and having withdrawals I mean I always thought it was a physical thing one can observe?
the picture - him and her?
me for posting it?
I honestly think his McSweeney's stuff is pretty funny.
I dunno. I only recently found out that they were dating (at some point). I don't know desu, I don't follow that sorta thing very much.
>Pretty sure there have been road deaths due to driving under the influence of weed.
I keep thinking about that one, statistics show "alcohol related death 100000000000" "weed overdoses 0" like it's the same fucking thing.
oh. did you just mean that it wasn't embarrassing as in on topic for this thread?
maybe you meant Frasier falling off the stage.
as for Eisenberg being funny, the replies to the post with the video of his interview (a few of them) mentioned he was funny/witty. >>64990441
>Fuck off, Shitting Bison
Not the guy but drinking is literally ingesting poison. You're not meant to be able to "handle it," you jack off.
I drink, by the way, but I'm not deluding myself about my superior poison taking powers...
You have to remember that cancer is a blanket term for a whole bunch of different diseases. It's been proven that Marijuana is effective against some skin cancers, it doesn't involve getting high though.
*shrug* came to mind for me, I remember lots of folks laughing at him when it happened.
how about this one?
how about when John Hamm's trouser snake/giant bulge got so much attention on the internet with various pictures, that he was asked about it in an interview?
he was embarrassed!
Damn. What a waste of a thread. I was looking for some prime embarrassment. Instead, I get like 5 examples and a lot of pseudo-psychologists and pseudo-neurologists going back and forth.. Oh, and the typical neo-cons that this ever contrary board has spawned in response to "society."
Come on. Can't we ever have fun here anymore?
that is embarrasing? for the other guy yes, not for Kurt. Kurt is speaking the truth that liberal retards can't get their head around.
you really ought to contribute WHILE you're bitching us out, you know. otherwise, you're just part of the problem.
Ashley Simpson's lip-syncing hoe-down on SNL?
>come into thread expecting celebrity cringe
>get Drug Discussion Forum 2016
eh. During my third week of uni I got so smashed I ended up taking a leak in a bin on Oxford Circuss in London. I have absolutely no recollection of it. These kinda things aren't actually all that uncommon and you fags would know if you ever left your basements. For other people this wouldn't be a big deal, people would laugh about it for a day or two and then life would go on. That guy just happened to be famous so it ended his career (apparently... I've never ever heard of him before this thread)
bonus, extra embarrassing being made fun of by Chris Rock. She's still pissed.
*Oh shit, wait a sec. I hadn't clicked the video and didn't realise he was peeing inside the fucking airport where people check in. I thought it was the parking lot from the thumbnail...
I mean I pissed in a bin in the street because there was nowhere else...
If I was in the fucking airport I'd have the sense to go to the toilet no matter how wasted I am. What a retard.
this is pretty cringey. and sad. snow white girl, Eileen Bowman, was 22 when it happened. (1989)
But Rob Lowe's made quite the comeback.
Addiction isn't fake.
Saying addiction is a "disease" is complete fucking bullshit though. Calling it a disease is just another way for libtards to push it while removing all blame from the person who is addicted. Just like with everything liberals do, it's a straight out lie.
"I got as disease bro! I need to drink these beers!"
See how retarded that sounds? And guess who gets rich off of it? Protip: It's not the person with the "disease" (but it MIGHT be the filthy kikes who encourage him to do it while removing all blame)
you're the only person that sounds retarded.
"liberals" don't say addiction is a "disease".
The National Institute of Mental Health does, The American Medical Association, the latest research of neuroscience,
you're not worth responding to. kill yourself.
He just represents the vast majority of retards in the West that think Islam is a race and that most Muslims hold "liberal" values.
Seriously, you'll get this exact response from most people you ask. They will literally call you a racist.
I know, fatties get made fun of. But drug addicts don't get much sympathy either. The health industry as a whole (science) may say it's a disease/disorder of the brain (drugs rewire the reward mechanism, so addicts don't have a "choice" the same way a healthy person does. their neurochemistry is re-wired in a way that the brain actually "decides" it needs drugs before safety, love, security, food, sex, you name it. anyway, medical science says that, but medical workers often don't.
I'm sure food addiction is similar, even if the rewards aren't as severe, or the brain metabolism disturbed as badly. However, one a person gains a serious amount of weight, they generally feel so bad they develop depression (common dual diagnonsis in addicts too.)
Both heavily feel shame and regret. Facing people who disagree with the science, who blame them alone, not understanding the factors involved in their decision-making, is stigmatizing them and increasing their chances of waiting longer for help, admitting they have a problem, etc. making it worse, basically.
no wonder some obese people are now saying "I'm beautiful the way I am, shut up"!
but they're wrong too.
for as many people who are religious in this country, you'd think we'd have more sympathy.
issues with obesity, eating disorders, food compulsions (food is a normal thing you have to do every day, too. it's not like drugs, where you just HAVE TO STOP. you know?) - well all this stuff is complicated and I wish more people would help, or care, or at least educate themselves.
p.s. I'm not an addict but my sister is. I can't believe she's still alive, but I'm grateful, and I have hope.
I shouldn't have wished addiction on anyone else, but you see people bashing drug addicts enough and it gets to you. I do believe people just don't understand until it happens to them (or someone they love.)
man, is there any saving this thread?
this one is my personal fave and most embarrassing of all. she later got boo'ed at the orange bowl (a month later or something.)
at 0:20 you can hear a guy yell YOU SUCK
she really does. her dancing is pure cringe.
