A movie lasts what it lasts. Obviously you aren't told everything about everyone.

Now there's a difference between stuff not being told, and 'misterious things that will be further explained in upcoming movies' (I simply call them plot holes) and cliffhangers.

First time you watch ANH you don't feel like there's anything missing. Darth Vader: you don't know who the fuck his parents are or if he has any son. You just know this guy was Ben's apprentice and killed a lot of jedis. Then you watch ESB and boom, fucking surprise: he's Luke's father. The scene makes a lot of effect on you because you didn't see it coming. That's how good films work.

TFA is totally different. When you go out of the theater (or just 30 mins after the movie started) you just know Rey is some main character's daughter. Probably Luke's, could be Han's or even Obi Wan's, who knows. But you already know.

The thing here is that this mistery is not about contributing to the movie itself, but about making you go and see the next one to find out. The whole point of that is to make money out of you. It doesn't make the movies better. It actually makes 'em worse because when you get told Rey is Luke's daughter (or Han's, or Ben's, doesn't matter) you'll be 'yeah... big surprise...'.

Everything in this movie was extremely predictable.

But the worst thing is that there's stuff that's not explained intentionally to make you go and see the next movie, but there are also other things that aren't told out of lazyness or are pure plot holes a lot of people here try to justify with the 'it will be later explained' bullshit.
