I'm happy to see my waifu getting some high profile work
So is this actually a sequel? Or just a random movie they're attaching some Cloverfield scenes to?
>he's never ARG'd
Reddit literally ruined this type of shit.
All these people saying it's going to be some bullshit fake sequel and not have anything to do with the original...
If JJ is stupid enough to pluck some movie out of nowhere and slap a Cloverfield title on it, knowing how long people have been waiting for a sequel, and not have ANY monsters in it or anything... He's the stupidest guy working in the business. There's no way he'll sacrifice the good will he's built up on doing some retarded shit like that.
From the previous thread:
Can't find anything about this. Please confirm?
Also the filming was wrapped up in 2014, pretty sure they had plenty of time since then to work out if they wanted to make of it a Cloverfield sequel or spinoff. Please stop buying into the defeatist bullshit that is so characteristic of /tv/. Just accept that they kept this secret because everyone was more interested in leaking stuff from TFA, so no "leaked script" nor rumor will amount to the reality of the project now.
They are living in that bunk because od the atomic bomb on the last movie, the fat guy holds them as hostages, they escape in the first 10 minutes to a restroyed wasteland with cloverfield the monster
Indeed. Also remember that Cloverfield played a lot on the unseen and the atmosphere. Only 5 mil. doesn't mean anything for that kind of movie, they could've simply used they funds well.
So the error message on 10cloverfieldlane.com is 100% fake, anybody want to figure out what those numbers are?
My thoughts exactly. People are reacting to this as if this was some kind of Asylum Films movie made to cash in with a more successful project, when they simply could've repurposed an idea into something with a larger scope, and that alone can be very interesting. Thankfully it's only 2 months away.
Gareth Evans did "Monsters" with less than 500.000$.
It's not that it's fake, it's just a CMS error message. They're still setting the site up and that error just generates an inner log. Probably just a permission denied issue in the server for public access.
t. Web developer
So does anybody have the old script so we can back up what that anon said last thread?
Will we finally have an ARG to surpass cloverfields? It and Halo 2's are to this day the best viral marketing campaigns i've ever seen, possibly ever.
Cannibal airlines isn't a real movie but it is a shirt. The shirt is designed by Rob Schrab, creator of the Scud the Disposable Assassin comic and writer/director of Monster House, the Sarah Silverman Show, and episodes of Community as well as other shows and is apparently working on the MST3K reboot? His twitter feed is full of tv/comic stuff and animal cruelty awareness. No idea what his connection is to JJ Abrams or this movie.
Yeah I mean, it's not like JJ gave an exclusive interview confirming the relationship with Cloverfield or anything. Dumbfuck.
Last ARG I did (and it was here on /tv/ too I believe) was Prometheus... And it was very bad, nearly zero immersion, the company that set up the sites basically spelling all the shitty malformed clues to the players, bugs here and there, and all for pretty promo pics. The only upside was that it was all well designed, and had a visual consistency with the franchise, but that was all.
I don't remember it having one, are you sure?
I have read like every novel and can tell you the model number of any gun and such and I don't recall that at all.
Are you sure you just don't mean the live action ads?
Nah, it was on the old school Bungie.net forums.
They had multiple accounts with variations of "Superintendent" as the name and a custom green text post in code on different forums. The Superintendent would also show up on the cameras set up around the office and in the news updates
I don't know about you guys
but I have a huge crush on chicks with such haircut
Cloverfield was litterally a perfect film
Only complaint is >muh shakey camera
Fuck you fags
And nice find re: password for the cellar, but yeah that stuff isn't related to this. Who knows why they set up a cryptic site with a password though.
>tfw im gonna have to go see it alone because my friends are plebs and no gf
They're all outdated and those guys don't have the sheer autism of hyped anons at work. What I'm saying is, the website thecellarmovie.com was proven to be unrelated to this movie, originally it might have been named The Cellar (with Valencia as working title) but it was turned into a Cloverfield spinoff at some point, obviously not recently seeing as the official website was created on November 11th 2015, according to a whois search.
maybe when you are around them you should occasionally reach into your bag, then take your hand out and shake your head. Talk about guns more than normal, that sort of thing.
They will go with you because they all want to be on your good side.
Literally every site reporting on this mentions both Valencia and The Cellar. http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/122259-mary-elizabeth-winstead-heads-to-bad-robots-the-cellar is way back from 2014 and it says Valencia and The Cellar are the same movie, so clearly, this isn't just shit that was made up
So, this site is either a part of the ARG, and it's pretending to be separate, or it's a different, unrelated movie that just has the same name.
Looking up Jens Klein (director listed on the co2 site) on IMDB shows http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2753860/ , which seems to be consistent with https://www.linkedin.com/in/jensklein7, who also has previsualization VFX work listed in the past, and it says that he's the owner of Motionarts, which is also the studio listed in the credits on the co2 site, so it seems to be a real person, which would imply it's just another movie with the same title.
>but it was turned into a Cloverfield spinoff at some point
yeah they changed it in the fucking reshoots once they realized it was a generic horror movie being released in the dead zone (jan-march) and they could squeeze some extra shekels out dipshits.
*walks into the room*
*wearing long black coat and black fedora covering my face*
*push away my cloak, revealing myself and lift up my fedora*
*reveal a toothpick coming out of my mouth*
I'll tell ya what we'll do........nothing
*do a cool smirk again*
*push my fedora down again*
*cover myself with cloak*
*begin to walk out of room*
Nothin' personnel, kid
>A fan of God of War.
>In GoW3, you literally cave a dude's face in with your fists, Irreversible-style.
>Thinks a PG-13 movie looks "terrifying and disgusting"
None of the normies I know liked it. The found footage gimmick turned them all off. I didn't care much for it either, but I suffered through it for the sake of watching a legit kaiju movie in the theater.
We've been through this. It's not the same movie, the project might have been called "The Cellar" or "Valencia" back in 2014 but right now it's something else altogether, not to mention it doesn't rule out, at all, that both titles were indeed working titles and the real deal is what we have now, 10 Cloverfield Lane, because as a Bad Robot production, they wanted to follow up on that.
This shit reminds me of all the confusion of the early days of the Cloverfield ARG, but it's important that people read ALL the thread(s) before pitching in.
>Only two months away
Oh fuck sake. I thought it was 3rd November, goddamn Muricans putting in month, day then year.
I'm hopeful as I adored Cloverfield. the viral campaign preceding it was god-tier seriously. Websites, photos, fake news stories and articles, a whole fake company making ice cream with a bunch of video testimonies, fucking myspace pages for all the character roleplaying. It was insane.
But that took a YEAR of steady marketing and building this hype bit by bit. I know we want a sequel but fuck, should pull out all the stops. I don't get why topping yourself is so looked down upon, everybody relies too much on 1 time deals.
okay so where do I find
others are obviosuly guys and have no intent to look like females whatsoever.
shit you can even see how they are ugly and just pretend to be "in the wrong body" since they think it's easier to get their emotional needs satisfied that way.
The guy in the trailer has a vhs of cannibal airlines which is not a real movie but it is a tshirt design by Rob Schrab. Other than that I have no idea what his connection is but its a good lead since he's worked on a handful of tv shows and movies.
Makes sense but what >>64903606 said. I'm just a bit disappointed Abrams isn't doing more to build hype. Cloverfield had the greatest viral campaign ever created, but the hype's been kinda dead for over 7 years now. You can't just pop out a trailer a month and a half before release and expect all that shit to instantly come back to life with all the steam it had. Guy should know better.
It looks good.
>He's never seen Monsters
As much as I think MEW is good-looking and all that, she's pretty much a nobody and borderline box office poison. Most of her movies are always carried by stronger roles (even Michael Cera..) and while Goodman is based, if this movie sucks then she'll evolve to be the movie version of Summer Glau.
What was your favourite Cloverfield rumour?
>I SAW IT IT'S A LION IT'S HUGE
I liked this movie because as they walk from Mexico into Texas along the coast, they pass through southern coastal texas, where I live. It's funny because even though it's supposed to look somewhat apocalyptic in the move, I can't tell the difference. Haha!
Glau is good-looking too. She's got that sexy girl-next-door cumdumpster look in her eyes. MEW is more a "girl at coffee shop nobody talks to" vibe.
Probably the fake news footage/story about that oilrig that collapsed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjzCfgTIsDw
I joined the hypetrain like halfway through and never seen Alias or star Trek, didn't even notice in Heroes but I was still hyped as fuark. Imagine if I experienced the whole thing.
So according to the director's notes after putting in this password:
The film is about a woman who sent a letter to an American society in 1920. The woman's letter complained of hearing footsteps in the house when nobody was there and everyone in the house growing pale and delirious.
An inspection revealed the furnace to be causing co2 to go into the home, poisoning them.
If this is truly tied in to cloverfield I would bet the cellar they're being kept in has the same issue, causing delirium in the residents which causes the main problems in the film.
IMO, the whale. It was something different enough to interest me, and I thought the fan design was kind of cool.
The director says he's interested in the posioning causing delirium which makes them believe the house is haunted.
In the notes he explains that CO2 poisoning is the main plot of the film. He decided to change the aspects in that it's not a faulty appliance causing the poisoning, but somebody else purposely poisoning this family to somehow steal their wealth.
That has to be a red herring. There is no reason why it would be in any way tethered to the Cloverfield franchise without something supernatural going on, be it ghosts or monsters.
I love the concept of the Cloverfield monster, it's not some big fucking monster out to get humans, some higher intelligence or a pawn of alien overlords to wipe out humanity. It's literally a mutated baby on a massive drug withdrawal tantrum. It's not in control of itself most of the time.
Not that I dislike the other concepts I mentioned but applying such a relatable human thing made Clover unique.
The director's notes are from 2009. The story is set in 1942 in his notes.
This was a movie who's plot was entirely about being trapped in a house and was instead changed to be in the cloverfield universe.
It actually did get shelved by Universal, who is currently holding the leash on Legendary, who's basically responsible for the movie and doesn't want to go for another round because it failed domestically. IIRC, the only hope we have for PR2 is Chinese investors (who own like 3/4ths of Legendary) stepping in and contracting them for another one because it's was #1 for 3 weeks in China.
Friendly reminder that Universal fucked up and meddled with Crimson Peak before making Legendary work on Krampus, which outside the SFX they provided, was a pretty mediocre movie
jesus christ, i remember leaving the theater in a cold sweat from scenes like this. something about giant monsters always gets me, but told in first person made it even worse. its roar is also so sad and creepy at the same time
>Cloverfield spinoff/sequel that's psychological horror starring john goodman, mew and some dude
>isn't a pov shaky cam movie
>comes out in 2 months
Even though I was one of the few in my circle of friends that got into the 1-18-08 shit and thoroughly enjoyed cloverfield. I'm glad that camera shit is gone.
>cheap godzilla rip off
Godzilla was shit, what makes you guys think this will be any good.
I personally like that they're going in a different direction with it. We've got a whole Toho cinematic universe coming, and (maybe) an eventual Pacific Rim 2, so I know my kaiju itch is going to get scratched somewhere.
There's also Annozilla, but...yeah.
Ok just saw the trailer and im not gonna lie, it looks interesting.
I won't see it in theaters but definitely will watch cam streaming.
The "escape" at the end of the trailer probably ends with her looking outside, and turning back. The earlier shot with her looking up the stairs with a crutch is probably her leaving toward the end. I'm guessing John Goodman and/or the other guy are probably dead, and she is forced to leave for whatever reason.
SON OF A BITCH
This better be an actual sequel, or I'm going to call JJ Jar Jar if this is just a cock tease for some shitty indie project. Cloverfield is near and dear to my heart, it was my first ARG as a baby and it got me exposed to the internet
I went to try see them filming it in Louisiana back when it was still called The Cellar/Valencia because I lived nearby.
I didn't get even close to the set when they were there in the end, but I did see a weird prop because it was really big and fairly far from the set at the time. It was a pair of giant green poles, kinda curved a bit so the tips touched the ground, hooked up to some machinery that looked like it raised/lowered them.
At the time I had no idea what the fuck it could be, but looking back now I think it might have been for cgi purposes - something to act as filler for the actors to work with on set.
I'm kinda starting to think they might have been meant to be a pair of claws.
>comes out in 2 months
I...was not expecting a sequel to Cloverfield to suddenly be announced for early 2016.
Although going by the trailer this seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the original. Or they could just be showing the first five minutes...
So many possibilities
>Cloverfield is getting a sequal but Pacific Rim 2 is probably dead forever
Are the two connected? There were talks about creating a Kaiju cinematic universe by the guys that did the new Godzilla, so maybe Kaiju movies will be the next big thing. This better have some mecha to make up for it.
I for one, welcome our new Kaiju Overlords and say that was a respected Baneposter on /tv/ I can easly help expose the defenses of any Capeshit resistance.
Because Godzilla was advertised as a monster flick, but instead was a film about some pissy dude, but Cloverfield has advertised since the first film its about the people, not the monster.
I feel like even if it is attached to the monster(s) from the first movie it's gonna do away with all the meta and viral marketing from the first one. There was a lot of good stuff there I would have loved to have seen continued. Very sad.
Already stamped with the curse of mediocrity
It's from what seems to be the official twitter page, could be a fake account but it was made fairly quickly after the trailer released
The account was linked earlier last thread, which is how I found it
>movie about a few people in a bunker
>CHILDREN BEHAAAAAAVE starts playing
> Mark my words
>Bunker is under a ruined NYC filled with Clover and a bunch of parasites
>John Goodman's character's family died in the initial attack
>He uses the bunker to rebuild with a new family in NYC
>End is her leaving the bunker, exploring for a little bit before Clover eats her and parasites swarm the celler
That seemed kinda obvious; It's what I thought too. Makes sense. Dunno about that being the end tho.
It's also pretty much the plot of the Metal Hurlant Chronicles ep with James Masters except with Fred Flintstone as a father figure.
ignore the left side of this page
from the trailer it seems that quite a bit of the movie will take place inside of the bunker, with very little room for the movie to take place outside, unless the movie is 3 hours long. the cuffing, the initial character introductions, the fire, the tension, etc all seems like it would take up the majority of the movie. don't get me wrong - I will still be seeing this movie, but it will be more of a character driven drama and less of a cloverfield movie.
it would be like adding a 30 second clip of darth vader at the end of Coherence and saying it's a star wars movie
