Ain't that some shit, thank goodness ThoraxTime is eternal
I Went to a Marvelous Party
A man who's voice I don't know, claiming to be river's husband. Says "hello sweetie". Oh fuck you silly geese. I'm glad it's not canon. I'm enjoying it thoroughly.
hey /who/, question about something I vaguely remember from watching through the original serials, though it's been a while, there was something about a multi-planet, simultaneous famine that hits the near future human colonies. What ever happened to that? was it just a throw away thing or was it ever explained?
So I finally convinced a friend of mine to binge series 9, he finished today and while discussing he told me he unironically liked Sleep no More more than Heaven Sent...
What do /who/?
It's never closed, we regulars just sorta exist whenever, and nah there's nothing specific in but there's always a permanent rotation of background noise and you can add whatever whenever so
I'm trying to follow through with all of them, but it's been a real drag. Nothing has really grabbed me yet.
I'm debating switching to the War Doctor audios.
It doesn't, DE1 was a perfect stand alone. Despite getting a great Master the rest were just underwhelming and pointless. It would have been great to go back to EDA style series rather than the pseudo-arc mini stories shit. Imagine a full series with McGann and MacQueen in the same style of Pertwee and Delgado.
I like the Eleven, but Doom Coalition is terrible. The first and second episode were okay, the third was terrible and I can't even finish the fourth. I'll get it done by the time DC2 comes out but good god.
>Moffat makes a companion so important to the Doctor that she's been there for him literally all his life and he has to wipe her from his memories just to have any hope of getting over her, plus she gets a Tardis, plus gets made functionally immortal
Do people actually like this?
You won't be getting anything better. OtM was a bit disappointing, as with everything McGann has done post DE1.
I can't speak for all of us, but I only just got off work. I like to think the rest of /who/ has a life as well but the truth is too hard to face.
/who/ is dying :(
But to correct you, 12 didn't wipe her from his mind to get over her, he wanted to wipe himself from her mind because that would somehow make the Time Lords not able to or not want to look for her to send her back to her death.
I really hate the trend of NuWho companions. Martha had the only decent ending, until she was brought back for the small bit that shows her ditching her usefulness as a medical Doctor for Torchwood and UNIT and becoming a Sontaran hunter and marrying the only other black character.
Yes the Doctor cares for his companions, but he shouldn't get all emo when someone leaves. 11 literally gave up everything he had been doing since he first ran away with Susan because two of his companions got stuck back in time and lived a long happy life without him. Then 12 finally gets back to Gallifrey, and instead of doing anything about returning them to their proper place he wastes a regeneration of someone that was helping him to save someone who already died. Also completely forgetting the fact they wanted the Hybrid for some sinister reason (presumably, given the fact they locked away and threatened the man that saved them all from death for a few billion years) and just assumes he's in the clear because he personally didn't give them the information he had.
He just needs to move on and get over it like he had been doing for his first thousand years of life.
>because that would somehow make the Time Lords not able to or not want to look for her to send her back to her death.
But that's not at all what happened
clara still goes back to gallifrey eventually, we saw it happen when she died in face the raven
she just spends time travelling before then, we don't know how much because she can't age
>But that's not at all what happened
It is what happened, and I never said she wasn't going to die. The Doctor said in the episode the reason he needs to remove himself from her memory is to hide her from the Time Lords. His intent was to prolong her life, not to prevent her death.

I would treat Heaven Sent as its own entity since it's just a loose three parter and the other two parts aren't on par with that quality

>yfw heaven sent gets number 1
If I were to treat Face the Raven, Heaven Sent, and Hell Bent as separate stories, Hell Bent still stays at #1, with Heaven Sent hanging out probably around #20 and Face the Raven somewhere even lower, maybe in the 30s or 40s
It wasn't very good? The first episode consists entirely of build up? Making a big deal out of the Bootstrap Paradox when Doctor Who does more interesting time paradoxes all the damn time? Generally being kind of boring? Bony vagina monster?
Like, it wasn't a complete disaster, but it was pretty lackluster.
At the very least Heaven Sent/Hell Bent are the same story, given that they share both a writer and a director, and that their titles are paired in exactly the same way that, for instance, "The Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion" or "The Girl Who Died/The Woman Who Lived" are paired. It certainly makes a certain amount of sense to group Face the Raven in with those two though.
Yeah well, I feel like I can disagree with the official episode groupings if I am so inclined. Officially, Trial of a Time Lord is 1 story as opposed to 4, but I don't buy that either.

Legends tell of the periods between seasons, when a lone hero would emerge to upload properly encoded true-framerate episodes from Classic Who. That time has come again, for /who/ has grown idle and yearns for content.
Ep 1 is up. Pastebin is being reassembled and updated. Film segments properly fieldmatched and frames doubled to 50. Video at 50 always. Ultra-sharp, ultra-compressed.
Inspired by Hell Bent to do Androzani. Can't watch Classic Who unless it's done by my hand. Can see all flaws in all video now. Only frame-accurate differential methods stitched together can soothe my eyes. Plus AviSynth has Spline64 resizing now.
You have my gratitude.
Just came on here to say I was listening to the music suite from Heaven Sent and god damn it is so good, is a series 9 OST coming out? Cause I need it. So bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKGGLi6ubQ4
holy fuck holy fuck holy fuck it's Nine
i know it's not eccleston but still
[–]this_old_canbig finish fan [+2][S] [score hidden] an hour ago
I'm pretty excited for this. They've done excellent jobs with some one-off (ish) characters (Jago & Litefoot, Counter-Measures, etc.). So I'm hoping they done as good of a job with this.
so my understanding is eccleston/tennant/smith aren't in this, it's like a companion chronicles thing?
but tennant works for big finish now? i guess it would be too different to have one of the stories actually have the doctor actor. stylistically designed to be that way i suppose, but they could have diminished the effects of it.
it's gonna be great
>alan rickman will never ever play the doctor
itw not fucking fair all the people i want as the doctor are dying bowie would have made a great doctor and alan would have made a very spooky doctor this is bullshit ;-;

Possibly Death to the Daleks?
A virus/plague is wiping out billions of humans across the human part of the galaxy.
It is possibly a weapon engineered by the Daleks.
The Daleks claim that the plague is affecting them but that's bullshit. They are on Exxilon to secure the parrinium which can be used to cure people with the virus.
They intend to plague bomb Exxilon when they leave, making it a no-go area.
I agree, it sounds like Revelation of the Daleks, where
Davros makes money by turning cryogenically frozen people on the planet Necros into food and selling it to the rest of the galaxy, taking advantage of a food shortage. In the end, the Doctor convinces the people of Necros to turn to agriculture, since a plant that lives there can stop the famine.
Revelation of the Daleks
There is a food shortage in human space.
"The Great Healer" is distributing a groundbreaking emergency food concentrate to the hungry masses for which they are very grateful.
The Great Healer turns out to be Davros, who is creating a new Dalek race from humans stored in suspended animation, who are there waiting for cures for various ailments.
The concentrated food turns out to be made from the left over human remains that Davros isn't using.
DAVROS: I never waste a valuable commodity. The humanoid form makes an excellent concentrated protein. This part of the galaxy is developing quickly. Famine was one of its major problems.
DOCTOR: You've turned them into food?
DAVROS: A scheme that has earned me great acclaim.
DOCTOR: But did you bother to tell anyone they might be eating their own relatives?
DAVROS: Certainly not. That would have created what I believe is termed consumer resistance. They were grateful for the food. It allowed them to go on living.
DOCTOR: Until you take over their planets.
Guys, what the fuck? Big Finish just released a story with NINE and you're all just talking bullshit?
Calm down m8, it's been out for just a couple of hours. Most people who pre-ordered it won't have listened to it yet, and it will take at least few hours for it to crop up on pirate sites.
And besides, audios aren't like episodes of the TV show. You don't get a huge amount of discussion as soon as they're released, it tends to be spread out over a few weeks as people buy or download them.
>Hardly anyone has bought the River audios
Nice source you have there.
That's not how it works anon. >>64867272
is right, like a Companion Chronicle
Great source man, real solid stuff.
What's wrong with them? Companion Chronicles are a great range and Big Finish excel at getting great stories out of very minor characters.

Reminder of your shame - sobbing about being banned for breaking the rules, then announcing you were breaking more rules, then having a tantrum when you were banned for that. I guess special snowflake trips like you deserve to be treated better than the rest of us anons, right?
yes we get it, you've spammed that pic more than I ever touched the topic overall
Nice pasta m8
The Ninth Doctor is a fictional character. Christopher Eccleston is the actor who portrayed the character. Are you very young or perhaps have mental issues? The fact you can't understand this distinction is alarming.
The fact he trips when he has absolutely no reason to derails the threads. If he quit the arrogant trip routine and just contributed like the rest of us there would be no issue. Christ, he doesn't do the slightest thing that would warrant a trip. Even Cloister has identifying features. FNA just spams the general opinion and shitty meme pics.
>The Ninth Doctor is a fictional character. Christopher Eccleston is the actor who portrayed the character.
>mfw you keep using your trip
You're fucking hilarious guy.
Clara never took a dump in the villain's bog.
In terms of they're dynamic with the doctor I'd say they're pretty similar. Personality wise however they're quite different. They we're both really sassy but I think the doctor liked Clara more.
He leaves when Capaldi leaves so... this year?
>Doctor brings companion with nose piercing and hair dyed turquoise and fuchsia to the Victorian era
>literally nobody bats an eyelid
>reading the thread
>people surprised by the lack of hype for the Churchill boxset
>distorted historical character no-one gives a shit about listening to
>Companion Chronicles style of not featuring the actual Doctor actors
>no particularly thrilling writer choices
I'm not saying it's not nice, but it was never going to set /who/ on fire.
>It's fucking Nine, back after 11 years!
Oh, so big finish is something to get excited about but comics and books aren't? in comics you can actually see him, sort of. in Big Faggots you just get to hear someone talking about him/ impersonating him
>in comics you can actually see him, sort of. in Big Faggots you just get to hear someone talking about him/ impersonating him
But the comic art is always shit so it balances out.
Desu that's incorrect even if he's only talking about audios. Pic related was one of the highlights of the DotD series.
But the Ninth Doctor comic doesn't have bad art.
>tfw this is the year that everybody dies
its fake she takes a hit at the beginning but only a small amount comes out and she never actually releases the rest
source: i have lived with smokers my entire life and never once seen anything like that
Murdoch is sustained by the life force of the Daleks.
>Without it he's just an image and a catchphrase.
No. We would all love to have Eccleston back, but don't underestimate the power of the writing. Even ignoring the fact that Doctor Who was able to exist for a whole decade purely as books and comics, there are some audio stories with a great characterization of the first three Doctors that don't feature the actors.
The Early Adventures and Third Doctor Adventures are essentially full cast, but with some narration as well. They credit Peter Purves/Frazer Hines/Tim Treloar as the Doctor, and the narration is in third person, not necessarily by one of the characters' actors. They've said of the Third Doctor Adventures that they're only doing any narration at all to appease the annoying "raping Pertwee's legacy with an impostor" people. Personally, I wasn't really into Tim Treloar as the Third Doctor until the second story, where new stuff was happening instead of trying to recreate the UNIT era with only two surviving actors.
>Now Hayley Atwell's arse will be the 13th Doctor
That may be one of strangest things I've ever read on any forum.
What does that actually fucking mean?
Bear in mind I've listened to hundreds of audiobooks and radio plays. I don't happen to think Trelor is a good Pertwee. Seriously. what the FUCK did your post mean?
Was it a classic knee jerk offended arsehole response by any chance?
>tfw not companion
You'd think at the age of PC and social justice we'd have more coloured companions.
Daily reminder that the breach to the void was the urethra of Rassilon.
Clyde and Rani were meant to move out in the series 6 or even 5. So I don't think it's impossible to actually show them without addressing Sarah Jane.
I miss them. Except maybe for Clyde who spent most of the show being a generic guy.
Rare telesnap from a lost episode filmed in the 80s. Six and Peri meet one of the Morbius Doctors.
Eps 1 and 2 are up
I was too annoyed by the stupidity off it. Nothing happens to them except they get sent back in time. That is literally it. He has a fucking time machine. Just go get them. Go to London and then contact them to come meet you. Or park the TARDIS a hundred years before and wait around for them.
Man i used to watch the first and part of second doctor, good times (but still i hate the poor audio in most episodes)
Dailymotion is starting to delete slowly all of the episodes, but lucily theres a torrent for the entire classic run(if it need password, its !pjBlA7jIuzV7mjffN1X8bLcdZeNnvh6agaMCd2n-HAA):
Thats weird, worked fine to me.
Maybe if you put it like this it`ll work
The Churchill Years torrent is available for all of you fake-Ecclestone obsessed pirate scum
How are the quality on these? I figure they're no PA rips but are they better than some of the other shit that's been going around on torrents? I think some of the ones I have are still VHS rips.
Apparently the VNAs were published in Hungary... and they got better covers than we did.
Possibly, it's dying but if we act fast we might be able to save it.
...Anon? "That book" what?
Jesus don't watch those. [email protected] or nothing. Here's War Games.
/who/ is fucking kill.
Isn't it better to end it, at last?
/who/ lives, albeit merely by the pure will of those who wish /who/ to reach the stars of 4 billion years from now. It may live, die, and live again, but it is the only eternal fixture on /tv/, and shall always regenerate and never die.
I don't understand
Lots of shitposts about /who/ dying and whatnot
Yet whenever I try to start actual discussion about audios, it's always 100% ignored
I don't get it /who/, what do you want? You seem to want the threads to stay alive, but not to actually discuss Doctor Who.
tfw Alan Rickman's death is a fixed point in time
