Everyone else in my generation (I was born in 86) seems to love

I'm currently in film school and everybody's favorite director is either Nolan or Tarantino, that or they don't watch movies which weird. We watched Blue Velvet in class and everybody hated it.

I'm not sure I have a favorite director. All of them have shit under their belt, as it were. I suppose Milos Forman is up there though. As is Darren Aronofssky.

Maybe surrealism isn't your thing, OP. I hate Tarantino, but I know why people like him. I like lynch a lot.

I was more into Cronenberg, Carpenter and early Jackson, most people loved Kubrick, he seemed to be the most cited director in class.
