“To say that the Force works in mysterious ways is to admit one’s ignorance, for any mystery can

Why do people hate midichlorians?
idk, Lucas had them in the canon since 1977, he just didn't see the need to mention them until TPM.
Never knew why people were so surprised that in what is ultimately a sci-fi series, that science has found some rudimentary ways to explain the phenomenon of the force. High midichlorian count is not like a DBZ power level nor is it a potential cap, it's more like an indicator of natural talent. People with more can learn easier and can tap into the raw power of the force with less effort.
Anakin's midichlorian count was not what made him so powerful, it was the destiny that the will of the force set out for him that did.
I don't have a problem with it but it mainly ruins the mysticism of the force which is one of the main reasons it was such an attractive storytelling device in the first place
every other sci-fi director at the time would have put something like midichlorians in their movie but star wars was different
>space magic is run by microorganisms
This is more retarded than "fairies did it" explanation. People can lift rocks with their mind because of microorganisms?
It doesn't make anything more believable while killing the mysticism of the Force.
The Force is pretty stupid as just mystical shit. That Lucas gave it a scientific genetic link is the only reason I can stand it when they bring it up.
Like people bitching about Rey now. If it's revealed she has a midichlorian count like 200 times Luke Skywalker's nobody would complain because it makes sense.
>If it's revealed she has a midichlorian count like 200 times Luke Skywalker's nobody would complain because it makes sense.
The way I see it with midichlorians we have skywalkers who are on top then you have everyone else who is a tier down. To have her 200x Luke Skywalker would be a significant deviation. That wouldn't stop the complaints about her being a Mary Sue either. Part of her being a Mary Sue is that she apparently has no flaws and is a perfect hero. If she went to the darkside (unlikely) that would be something which actually would stop complaints.
you don't understand it and even if you did it would not be any more stupid than "wishing hard can give you the power to call things from the void"(like scot card) vorlons are angels ,etc, etc
the only thing that awakened in TFA was R2-D2
So is he the force?
Because people dislike the prequels, but they can't formulate actual opinions as to why, so they lash out at specific ideas (midichlorians, child actor Anakin, etc.) as a shorthand for their lack of quality instead of targeting their real problems (bad writing, convoluted storytelling, unclear motivation, poor acting, poor direction, etc.).
