It's funny how prideful you are about your favorite Lynch film, especially because it's clear you prefer LH on the grounds of it being his most autistic movie. Literally, it's his most masculine and repressed and emotionless movie, because it's about a cold, delusional type of person. Lynch said he was inspired by the OJ Simpson case, of all things.

Lost Highway is the unworkable kind of masculine. It's hard-lined, leather, wetdream masculinity that allows for no depth of character. The movie is turgid. It's not a secret that the kind of male that exists and flourishes in art is 'feminine' or to use a better word, 'existential.' A good example in another Lynch work would be Nicolas Cage in Wild at Heart, who has real conflicts, all stemming from his sensitivities. The main character in LH is literally a tough dude who's high-strung, it's shallow.

I feel pretty sorry for David Lynch to be fair.The guy did really have a talent for making interesting films before he was cucked by Rosselini. Ever since the late eighties all he has been able to produce is inauthentic meme-movies.
