there were less methods of consumption meaning producers had to put more effort to appeal to the markets, now that we can consume all forms of entertainment, and everyone is competing for our attention, it causes producers and artists to output quantity over quality.

The early 2000s were a shit time for TV (aside from HBO). Almost everything was reality TV shows about the stupidest shit. Thankfully today that genre is dead but our current state of TV is just as bad
