An alien race called the Telbachans have been, for the past 36 years, skimming revenue from Manitowoc county. When Avery filed a lawsuit against the county, the Telbachans feared their own revenue would be cut, and so sent out one of their alien crafts- a Marsdonion 4000 - to abduct Teresa Halbach and then plant evidence to frame Steven Avery. They had the motive after all.

This raises reasonable doubt, so Avery should be pardoned by Barack Obama personally, in the very same garage where Halbach was supposedly killed.

It pretty possible, and maybe even likely that Steven did it. I don't believe that Brendan had almost anything to do with it. At best he saw something in the fire, but nothing about his confession makes sense. There's no way they were stabbing her and cutting her throat in the bedroom without any blood, and there's no way they shot her in the head in the garage with no blood. The key is suspicious, but I suppose it makes some sense that if he got her blood on the key, or his, that he would wash it off before tucking it away, which could explain she had no dna on the key, but it's still fishy that both the bullet and the key were found by Manitowoc County police officers, who absolutely had a motive to fuck him over. The phone messages are interesting, the vial of blood is suspect as fuck, the anti coagulant agent in the blood from the car would be huge, but the first tests didn't reveal anything. Teresa's brother seemed way too certain, there were plenty of holes in this case. I'm basically on the fence with Steven, and feel like he's the most likely lead on the case, but I think Brendan's confessions are pretty clearly solicited and manipulated.

To get rid of all of her DNA on that key would be an impossible task for a normal person without using bleach and probably damaging the rubber. It's impossible for it to have Steven's DNA and not Teresa's.

Well maybe he was just trying to convince himself of it, through confirmation bias, as a form of closure. We don't know the pain that family were going through, and feeling like you were convicting the real culprit was probably cathartic for them. He might also be a bit socially awkward -- he seemed to smile at inappropriate times, but it might have been out of social ineptness.

I'd be more interested in them pursuing the ex-boyfriend, if only for the fact that he's statistically a key suspect.

Avery told other inmates during his first incarceration that he was planning something like this. My parents are COs in central Wisconsin and when this shit was happening in 2007 some of his former inmates came out saying he was guilty and it was planned. 17 years is a long time to plan this shit out even at his minimal cognitive capacity. Because it was a shit test developed in a few weeks out of desperation. They never mentioned its specificity and sensitivity values, and somehow the judge accepted it despite the fact that a diagnostic test of any kind need to go through several stages of development that take months before it can be used in practice and most important, before it can be accepted in a court of law to convict a suspect.
