as far as i recall, the master plan was to get the support of a governor whom Flint knew from back when he was Royal Navy. They wanted to get pardons for themselves

But the governor fucked them over and killed Miranda Barlow (Flint's lover) so Flint snapped and crashed the governor's town with no survivors, and in the process forging an alliance with rival captain Vane, but this will surely incure the wrath of His Majesty's Navy. so basically they are fucked, in time they will be hunted down and hanged
