I mean the actual movies. I personally dont like them but they seem to have a huge fan following so some people clearly do. Thoughts?
I loved the first one. It was nearly perfect.
The characters, that fucking soundtrack, and just the right amount of vidyagame sillyness.
...then the movie took a giant shit and started rolling around in it, with the sequels squeezing out from its asscheeks every couple years.
i remember fapping to this scene a lot when the movie came out, when she is about to be raped. I think it was in Extinction....this was before I knew that she had done multiple nude sex scenes in other movies
It's schizophrenic. Characters and plot points come and go with little purpose, arcs go dormant for three films and then return abruptly. It's probably the messiest, trashiest piece of shit franchise ever.
Fond memories of the first one. It was one of 20 VHS tapes my family owned, so I watched it a lot as a kid. Many years later, upon learning it had a sequel, I re-watched it. Surreal experience. Barring maybe the laser gore scene, the movie played out entirely different than my memory, even though I'd watched it repeatedly. It was bad now. A weightless main character, dimensionless side-characters, no tone or atmosphere, no point or entertainment value. There was style, sometimes. CGI aged terribly.
Then I watched Apocalypse. I remember being blown away by how much it felt like cheap Syfy channel schlock. After going through the trouble of revisiting the first film, I felt like I'd wasted my time. It wasn't even so-bad-it's-good. The new characters: bland, the sense of aesthetics: intolerable. The ending nonsensical, like the indulgence of an artistic work in the hands of someone on the polar opposite extreme.
Extinction was a weirdly conventional film in comparison. It felt more like something that would be shown in a theater. Bad gore, dull. I remember the least about it.
Afterlife, well, there are some legitimately well-done, energetic, fun-to-watch scenes. But it's this film where the ending of Apocalypse becomes the status quo: a sandbox of nonsense. The ending sequence is almost avant-garde.
Then something odd happened with Retribution...the series veered so far off the deep end it ended up good. The fifth is fun to watch. The bad things about it are compellingly bad - the subplot with the deaf girl is so absurd, I literally can't imagine what the writers were thinking. It ends in the stupidest way possible, in one of the stupidest ending shots I've ever seen. So sublimely, mindbogglingly stupid that I'm legitimately, sincerely excited for the sixth one.
1 was a decent low-budget sci-fi horror action movie despite shitting on the games.
2 was so goddamn retarded it was fun.
3 was legit good at times end arguably the best. I felt for the characters and there seemed to be an underlying theme of loss. I was expecting to have fun like with 2 but felt like I got punched in the gut. Also has the best line in the series:
>You're just another asshole
4 was three absolutely badass setpieces strung along a boring and by-the-numbers plot. It should have been a chase movie across the whole world. Instead they hide out in a prison. Luther is best new character.
5 is absolutely retarded in good and bad ways. Shit writing. Oded Faher is wasted. Leon sucks. They get bonus points for giving Barry a hero's exit. Awesome final fight. GOAT score. President Wesker.
Can't wait for 6. Too bad people keep getting hurt or killed on set.
1 was what it needed to be in order to sell tickets. Not a very good movie but not terrible.
2 was commendable for having so many connections to the games but was a fuck retarded movie.
3 tried to be a Romero zombie movie and failed miserably. Also, nothing happened in the entire movie.
4 was the best so far just because of how retarded it was. It's the only one to reach into "so bad it's funny" territory.
5 tried to take the concepts from 4 and turn it into something competent. The result was a bland, pointless commercial product.
I honestly can't wait for these movies to be over so they can reboot the franchise and maybe start accurately adapting the games.
Alice is the over the top feminist action hero Rey wants to be, in a good way.
I knew it wasn't actually gonna happen, but my brain was expecting her to blow her head off as her finger touches the trigger in same moment as the muzzle is pointed at her face.
>2 weeks in a coma, brain bleed, brain swelling, severed main artery in the neck, crushed & degloved face, several broken ribs, paralyzed arm, shattered scapula, broken clavicle, broken humerus, broken radius & ulna, with an open wound and a 7.5 piece of bone missing, amputated thumb, torn fingers, 5 nerves torn out of the spinal cord.... not my funnest day on set."
>Resident Evil crew member is crushed to death by Hummer falling on top of him - days after stuntwoman revealed she will have left arm amputated following on-set accident
what kinda production you want pham?
She's unapologetically overpowered in the vain of male characters like John Matrix without any emphasis on being female or trying to make out she's just an average vulnerable girl while ignoring that she's perfect at everything like how Rey's written. All the fun with none of the eyerolling.
Lol ok calm down bro. seriously though many action films are supposed to be carefully planned so that the risk is minimal. and even though accidents like these do happen the train wreck this film has left behind does scream negligence.
I'm sure your stupid because of "genetics" too.
I dont get it, you guys complain about mary sue's yet she actually is a mary sue. The virus that kills over actually gives her superpowers-she even more of a mary sue than enoby darkness.
It depends on the execution,Like he said they make her vulnerable and weak and it seems challenging when she has to overcome her obstacles,With Rey they did not have enough time to develop her this way so maybe she will become a better mary sue.
>you're 2fat&2Bi-Curious :^)
I'm not a redditor. Also you need to stop with the projection and get professional help redditor, its ok to be fat and bi-curious but not an annoying troll ok?
Well she started of as a special agent,So I -assume- she was already strong/skilled and then she got Infected and became NEO,I don't think she has her powers in the films anymore.
>Confirmed for triggered redditor
Im sorry that women find you repulsive bro, but maybe if you were not so fat and showered more than once a year you'd get some.
I think they mention in the movies there is something about her specifically that causes the virus to give her "Powers".
IIRC it was the third movie said her "blood is the cure" so that in itself would make her the very definition of a Mary Sue but I think since she is presented in such a way that makes it somewhat forgivable.
Rey is very similar
>Trained OffScreen-albeit in an uncoventional way
>Came into Powers that make her OP'D
>Has to Overcome a lot in a short amount of time/Thrown into a war
The difference now is Alice has had 5 fucking movies to flesh her character out and Rey has only had one,I think people would have been more willing to accept Rey as a plausible Hero if they expanded more on the scavanging segments but I think people are going to love her after the next movie.
>redditors getting pussy
Oh my you really are a butthurt redditor trying to save face lol
DESU i cannot tell the difference between a redditor and a channer, especially as there seems to be lot of em here now. This is multiculturialism, all the sites will just sound the same.
Sorry are you saying that alice is better because she doesnt have a personality of her own so is forgivable or did i read it wrong (im assuming i did)? btw i am not arguing for either.
All shit. Every last one of them. Who the fuck is Alice?! Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine is the only good thing about the entire series.
The Underworld films are guilty pleasures done well. The Resi films are just plain shit.
Also Kate Beckinsale >>> Milla Jovovich all day every day.
Sorry,I meant thats why her character in Ultra violet felt so similar and what makes Rey different.
That is one of my complaints,I do like alice but overall she and most of the other female characters (ecspecially claire) are interchangable.
I would agree, but i would also say thats why i dont particulary care about alice, she doesnt come across as memorable. My friend hates horror but loves the RE films mainly for alice because she thinks shes a great role model for kicking mens asses and being invincible. I guess everyone has different tastes.
DESU i just want to see an overpowerd action hero fuck shit up so gender or personality doesn't really matter, not to say it wouldn't vastly improve the movie.
>tfw there will never be a rated m star wars hbo series
