Obi-Wan wasn't special, he wasn't born as a super force sensitive wizard with the potential for infinite power or anything, yet he fights and defeats opponents who should be way ahead of him. He's the best example of hard work paying off and overcoming the odds in the entire series IMO.

For example, Luke falling in Cloud City and Anakin falling in Coruscant has nothing to do with each other except visually. When Luke falls it demonstrates Luke's agency through a very clear choice: He chooses to defy his father's will and temptation, and instead falls with the slight hope of surviving undefiled; it is clear that death is a preferable alternative to the dark side. Furthermore, he loses the artifact which was his only connection to his father's status as a hero, emphasizing the change in Luke's paternal perception.

When Anakin falls, it has barely any significance, it merely shows that he is reckless, and has a strong connection to the force.

That's a good point. I guess what I miss is some kind of way for the visuals to relate to each other, not a direct repeat.

Of course I'm not a filmmaker, but repeating motifs without having any deeper thought behind it bothers me. This is of course also an issue in episode IV, but that had the advantage of standing well on its own, like you didn't need an extensive knowledge of pulp sci-fi in order to enjoy it.

I want to like these videos. I really do. And in every prequel bit with Ewan McGregor, they're great. But it just falls flat for me with pretty much most Hayden parts. I really wanted to believe that Anakin Skywalker was this, to quote Obi Wan in RotS, "strong and wise" jedi warrior. But the way his character is written and acted in prequels is just not that. Anakin is never shown as wise. The complete opposite in fact, he's always an idiotic, reckless, and petulant teenager. People are complaining about Kylo Ren being an "emo" but prequels Anakin was always leagues worse, he was like a soap drama character. The shot of him with the hood after falling to the dark side, with the single tear streaming down his face is absolutely awful.

It's a terrible shame because these edits really do make you realise just how good the prequels could have been, the potential was so high. If only Lucas had some people around him to help refine his ideas, the casting, and the directing.

Drawing parallels and copying your earlier work is not clever, smart, or praiseworthy when it's done poorly and without thought, for no other reason than to try and make things "rhyme". Sorry guys.
