Just finished this and I think is a definite 10/10. What are your thoughts?
Most people like it only because everyone else says its good.

I can't get into it. I hate the character and O'Toole's portrayal. In reality Lawrence was a faggot who just loved Arab faggot culture, the pillars of wisdom shit was just posturing.
Also I can't stay awake past any shots and music involving the sand dunes.

It's a 10/10.
I put off watching it for a long time. Finally decided to watch just one Disc, since my Roommate had it.
Immediately had to start the second half and stay up too late and be late for work the next day. You could release it now and it would still almost hold up aside from a few of the death scenes.and the acting of his sex slave.
Better than Khartoum.

It's most definitely a perfect mainstrean movie in every aspect...cozy story that's easy to digest, pretty looking pictures, and of course, Lean's masterful and all time great direction aged wonderfully well and I can watch it over and over again with no problem

lol they actually made a movie out of the fake one Prometheus, bet it has loads of shitty references to the film in it

By your description, STALKER is a perfect mainstream movie as well.

Stalker happens to be one of my most liked movies, but from my perspective the film is not what the masses consider a comfortable viewing; it's not easily digestible and aesthetically coherent enough for them and there's little to none emphasis put on the forward progression of the hero's journey, the film wants to have an intellectual, philosophical discussion with the viewer, and that most certainly is not pleasing for the populace that will most likely not understand what the film is showing them.
