The game trailers for Star Wars The Old Republic look fucking amazing.
Watch the whole thing and tell me this style and direction wouldn't have made a better movie.
The setting could be the 30 years after RoTJ rather than the old Republic.
Luke is a Jedi Grandmaster and trained an entire class of Jedi. Rey could be the Jedi apprentice with the double sided blade. Luke could be the Jedi "Maul's species" guy. The Sith are just an army that rose up and abandoned the Rule of Two.
Even the way the jedi and sith move is interesting, look at the way the Sith flicks open his light saber
The rule of two ruined the sith it is such an idiotic rule Darth Bane is a hack, the only good thing about star wars are the Jedi and Sith, Smugglers, Bounty Hunters, and a few other things and they remove the best of those we need an Old Republic Trilogy or one that brings back the Sith and Jedi at full strength not this 1v1 bullshit or atleast have a decent story that doesn't involve the stupid idea that there are only a hand full of Jedi/sith
Look at how Boba Fett or Captain Phasma could have been shot, the trailer has a character with a jetpack and she blows up a bridge.
>memey ripoff characters like the smuggler
>matrix slow motion shots
>dumb overchoreographed lightsaber fights
>re-use of clone trooper designs for totally different time period
Seriously prequel-tier schlock
m8 it's not "noob vs person trying not to hurt him" like in the OT, it's 2 people fully trained in the force, in their prime, of course the fight is going to be flashy
What do you faggots expect. Yoda died. Obi wan died. Vader died. Sheev died. The only jedi left was a half assed trained Luke with baby tier level swordsmanship and force powers. Jango Fett could kill more experienced and talented Jedi, why and how could Luke ever be a real threat even with students?
TFA is realistic as to how fragmented and backwards all jedi or sith would be.
Yeah and my point is that expecting amazingly trained jedi or sith with amazing lightsaber skills is fucking retarded considering a) no jedi or sith of worth are left alive and b) no jedi or sith of talent exist to even train anyone anymore because of that.
Those posts mentioned how bland the saber fighting was and how Jedi Grandmaster Luke Gaywalker trained an entire class of jedi as if that could ever matter. Luke is a grand master in the same way a black belt from the Mcdojo next to the Planet Wings in your town is a skilled martial artist.
If there's one thing TFA did right it's the more down to earth lightsaber fights. Flashy spins and backflips are neat and all but I preferred when it was just two guys bashing blades against each other.
>The setting could be the 30 years after RoTJ rather than the old Republic.
This was literally in the OP and it states the new movie could have been made in the style of that shit trailer. So nice try but you're wrong. You never said that shit and are just moving the goalposts.
Luke Gaywalker could never in his wildest dreams train talented jedi considering he was so untrained and untalented in every regard. So his hypothesis and complaint of less than impressive saber fights is asinine.
>The people that hate this style also instantly mention hating the prequels
It's good to know it's only hated by morons without their own opinion who have a need to constantly remind others how they fit in the crowd
>Tfw everything in that clip isn't even canon anymore because of the new universe where Fett isn't even a Mandalorian
I legitimately hope the new movies flop badly. They are so casual and shit-tier that it's just a fucking joke.
>Gone from Sci-Fi Fantasy franchise into capeshit in space, complete with witty one liners
Pic related. Good luck defending this shit, TFA defense cucks.
I'm glad you became a cuck without knowing it was Karbin who engineered your franchise's doom!
>Retards saying it's "overchoreographed like the prequels"
What the fuck is that even supposed to mean? There is absolutely nothing wrong with well-choreographed fights. The problem with the prequels is that the choreography involved lots of obviously fake strikes (aimed at the weapon instead of the opponent, clearly not going anywhere near the opponent, no power behind the strike) and other dumb shit like slow-ass reactions and awkward pauses. These problems are not in the video OP posted. Yes it's overreliant on dumb matrix/300-style "epic" slow motion but the fight choreography itself is good and fitting for a Star Wars lightsaber battle (except for whenever the troopers or smuggler appears, these are retarded).
it would be physically impossible for humans to fight like this, which would mean using CGI, and star wars fans have constantly used CGI as an excuse to hate on the prequels so now every director assumes star wars fans hate CGI so now we're stuck with boring-ass and basic lightsaber battles. I'm sure if we ever see luke or snoke fight they will probably fight like rey and finn because thats what the "true" star wars fans want anyway.
>The game trailers for Star Wars The Old Republic look fucking amazing.
Only if you're twelve, or a cat, or just a manchild that's bothered by flashing shining things dangling before his face.
>it would be physically impossible for humans to fight like this
Martial arts films come pretty close. I actually was hoping for something like this when I heard JarJar Abrams was inviting people from the Raid
Well, seeing as how Darth Vader fought pretty much the same as Luke, and seeing as Darth Vader was the best swordsman in the entire prequel saga, I'd say those overchoreographed fights are simply not as effective as what we've seen in IV,V,VI,VII.
>people hating OP's trailer for prequel-ness
Except for Jedi's being OP it's not prequel-tier at all. The thing is, it could never be adopted into movie, because this kind of choreography (including the fact, that they actually try to harm each other), movement, camera angles etc. are impossible with our technology and actors who are >not force-sensitive
I kinda liked how duels looked like in TFA though. More brutal, simple, maybe even primitive, with no heavy reliance on CGI and just enough choreography to make it look different from normal sword-fight (without turning it into prequel abomination).
t͏͏b͏͏h f͏͏a͏͏ms - I believe this kind of shit is what CW/Rebels fights could have been if the creator weren't greedy jews.
I think that was OP's point, he simply brought up cinematic examples of what it would look like to have a Jedi/Sith war if shot like a movie. After all, he did still call it episode 7
Like. >>64617173 already said. Darth Vader didn't fight to kill Luke, he wanted to turn Luke to the Dark side and so did Sheev so whenever they sabered fought, it was with Vader taking it easy.
