>Over the last few months kaiju fans have been thrown a wealth of renewed interest in the subgenre. Godzilla vs. Kong was announced, as Godzilla Resurgence went into production. Kadokawa-Daiei showed interest in devloping a new Gamera project with CG clad footage. Skull Island is entering the last few weeks of shooting. Ultraman's 50th birthday is underway with the upcoming Ultraman X movie and the mysterious 50th anniversary project.
>Unfortunately, not all of these giant monster films may see the light of day. One in particular is heartbreaking. According to sources speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Pacific Rim 2 has been taken off the table at Universal and shelved indefinately.
>this is canned
>we get transformers 5
One of the best looking movies ever created.
Terrible acting and writing. But God Damn some of the best CGI ever put to screen. Great monster and robot designs, and even better fight choreography.
What a shame.
>There are grown men on this board unironically upset that Godzilla VS. Transformers isn't getting a sequel
How's that 25+ virginity treating you?
well one less reason to live.
Pacific Rim will be forever remember as an awesome movie with giant monsters vs giant robots.
Maybe in 25 years we will get an spiritual sequel to it.
This tbqh familia. Any film with a sequel isn't worth the time of day.
Like, I thought the first film was fine. Then the sequel got announced and I was SO FUCKING ANGRY that I took my DVD, snapped it into eight pieces, ground those pieces up in a blender, had some laxatives and took a massive squishy shit in the DVD case, sprinkled the ground up disc bits in, closed the case and promptly donated it to a local children's hospital. FUCK PACIFIC RIM.
I look forward to Anno's portrayal of Godzilla.
It isn't. Legendary owns the rights to Godzilla in the US and has stated that the Japanese movie would be "unwelcome competition." And Toho isn't interested in showing the movie outside of Japan to begin with.
It'll probably get a video release, though.
It didn't flop but it lost to Grown Ups 2.
fuck off. The contrarian opinion is that Pacific Rim is shit. Fucking everyone, even /m/ that has some very specific tastes agrees that Pacific Rim is a film that was successful at being an entertaining mecha film
whoa whoa whoa. As a representative for /m/, I don't want you spreading misinformation about us here. We didn't say it was "an entertaining mecha film", we said it was "an alright robot flick".
Fuck off. The contrarian opinion is that contrarian opinions are literally the coolest thing ever. Except maybe for pointing out when a contrarian opinion is ACTUALLY a DOUBLE contrarian opinion, and is only being a contrarian opinion to contrarian opinion marry sue contrarian opinion stat wars opinion contrariancontrarianopinionCOntRariuuunnnnOpenisinmymouthopinionionatedopnpoqefbipubqevipuoqveiuoqmemesandredditarearewsomeeioupqbepiquebqbe [contrarian opinion]
