At the current rate it's not even going to hit 2b worldwide.
Disney must be raging at JJ right now.
It's because if him forcing Boyega that movie is underperforming outside USA.
How long does it usually take for a movie to pretty much stop grossing? Avatar is sitting at $2.8 billion
and TFA doesn't even have 1.6 yet. It's just above halfway if they ever aimed for #1.
How much money did Avatar make in merchandise sales? I'm guessing it isn't even a tenth of what TFA is pulling in. Also, TFA hasn't even been released in China yet. It's guaranteed to make at least another $400million there.
>Fuck you, Broyega was awesome.
But his character did not fit in the universe at all. Finn was played as a the typical cool and hip black american kid from the streets. It was like they took Chris Tucker out of rush hour and threw him in star wars. He had all the mannerisms and quick witted one liners. If he was just cocky I could have accepted that, but no, he was all "DAYMMN DYALL SEE DAT"
made no sense at all
>still crying about based boyega nights
All I know is disney owns the 2 things I loved most as a kid, Marvel & Star Wars
Nope, I remember reading an article like a week before TFA came out, they (Disney) were thinking at least 1.3b but everyone else was already saying it could beat avatar at that time
>he's mad successful movie is successful
>But TFA isn't a typical blockbuster. It's legs were almost as good as Avatar's legs
Don't be delusional. Despite making nearly 2.5x more per day than Avatar did in its first week, it has ALREADY sunk down to below-Avatar levels in objective daily gross.
I paid 0 dollars to see this movie the second day it was released and I paid 0 dollars again the next day when I saw it a second time.
I guess Disney will just have to dry their eyes with the piles of profit they made off this movie. They barely advertised, other companies did the advertising for them and had to PAY Disney to put shit on Coke cans and in commercials. Disney raging? Naw they are making like 20 new movies.
Is this a thread about whether or not a movie is good becuase of how much money it made?
Avatar sucked balls and made billions, so TFA detractors (or fanboys, I cna't tell anymore) are hoping it makes more money than Jimmy Cam's utterly forgettable cash cow? Or makes less?
It actually hasn't surpassed the adjusted domestic gross of avatar.
>the sequel to Return of the Jedi won't crack 2 billion...
>it will lose to Titanic
If you had said this in 1997, I would be quite surprised.
>still above TFA in adjusted domestic gross
Its because he defiled star wars by forcing a mary sue ugly cunt as the lead, not because boyega who was just there instead of another jar jar. The kike lovers are on suicide watch after the flop in china.
it would take God himself to save Star Wars now, and I heard he's busy with something right now, who knows what.
>Biggest fan base of any film ever
>Biggest hype of every movie ever
>Biggest promoting campaign ever
>Struggles to even reach Jurassic park worldwide
How does it feel being this of a failure you overweight manchild kike lover ?

The only one of relevance is Avatar.
All those other movies were in theaters for months on end and kept having rereleases. It was a different time.
We live in an era where eight blockbusters alone come out annually. And those blockbusters have to compete with blockbuster video games and television shows that rival movies.
Movie ticket sales are a poor metric anyway to compare over years.
Things that will make newer movies have higher numbers:
Things that will make newer movies have lower numbers:
>abundance of other media
Measuring all these factors combined against older movies to get a number that fairly represents anything more than how much profit a movie made is almost impossible.
Fair enough but still:
>If the number of total admissions are calculated, this is the most popular movie of all time in the US with over 200 million tickets sold. While having the advantage of being released several times in theaters, there were half to a third as many Americans alive when it was released, compared with other films that set the domestic box office record: Avatar (2009), Titanic (1997), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) and Jaws (1975). (Direct comparisons are difficult as subsequent films have seen escalating ticket prices, had to compete with television and later the internet for audiences, and the emergence of home video formats in the 1980s reduced the need to see all films theatrically.)
I was actually cool with Boyega, I grew up with the prequels so I have always been accustomed to a ridiculously out of place black guy being about. Daisy, however, wore on me quite quickly, I'm not particularly enjoying the idea of her being the lead at all. She doesn't look or feel inspiring and having a bitch boy antagonising her is making this series look very unappealing.
>what is merchandising
You dumb nigger, Disney will make a bil with Star Wars-opoly by the end of the year. Star Wars is THE merchandising franchise. 4 bil for it was a fucking steal.
But that's what happened to Avatar? It was in theaters for practically all of 09 or whenever it was released. Also it had the benefit of being heavily marketed as an essential 3D experience, which it was.
If you are so sure, please promise to kill yourself when it does reach 2b. I'm not a fan of this movie but it's easily going to reach 2billion. It wasn't even released yet in other markets until recently.
everyone already knows that, retard. Its a multi billion dollar company founded by a Jew that has purchased two of the biggest household name franchises within a five year time span. Anyone who isn't aware of that fact yet is an oblivious moron.
/pol/ please go, your right-wing schtick isn't funny anymore
>It was in theaters for practically all of 09
>all of 09
So this is when the high fluctuations and heavy surges start happening.
This week and next will really show that through the day to days and weekends.
Because it's almost teetering or going over/under with what Avatar and Titanic did.
TFA's right now is on pace with how those two were performing.
Forecasts show for heavy gains into the next upcoming weeks.
Finn was a clumsy dork, not a "cool and hip black kid from the streets"
