Looks like a 70's poster.

I like it.

Sounds like a Mass Effect rip-off.
>>
>>64587891
and? I don't give a fuck. I loved the ME soundtrack.

Cry moar, fat nigger.
>>
Legit hype tbqh
>>
What exactly is the plot/concept. The trailer looks cool but I didn't get much out of it other than it looks like a man living in the upper class of some sort of dystopian society.
>>
Even if he has just copied some Cronenberg tropes, it does look and sound pretty awesome.

Not convinced Hiddleston will bring it.
>>
>>64587875
>>64587781
that would be UK, since it has only premiered at like one film festival so far
>>
>>64588005

Man builds luxurious towerblock for middle class and rich people, makes it self sufficient so the only reason to ever leave is to go to work. Things eventually turn messy

Think Lord of the Flies but instead of children on an island it's a tower block full of Patrick Bateman psychos
>>
>>64587891
Cry more, faggot.
>>
>>64587891
It's Tangerine Dream and it's from '83.
>>
>>64588104
definitely sounds like a movie I would watch. the only movie that recently scratched my itch for something like that was snowpeircer, which I'm scared to even mention on this board.
>>
>>64587659
Oh man, that trailer actually looks cool as fuck. I'm digging the 70's/American Psycho vibes and the score.

Has anyone read the book? Is it worth a read?

It is ironic. What would JG Ballard have to say about the glib palliation of society's violent urges through violent spectacle in cinematic form? It is telling that they cast Tom Hiddleston known for his role of Loki -- Thor and the whole comic book sham are similarly a festoon of 21st century disingenuous decadent indulgence. The animal within man hungers, and it is fed these scraps; it purports to possess a higher morality, but its higher morality is cowardice, and the cowardly lion eats the coward's share of the meat while telling itself it is better than the rest because it is less barbaric. JG Ballard knew all this, and he would appreciate the irony that his work on this theme has been adapted to serve this function.

I highly recommend the book and Ballard in general.

High Rise
The Unlimited Dream Company
Vermillion Sands
The Crystal World
Crash

All great

Looks based! Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons...i am le hype!
>>
>>64590115
Perfect, I'll check him out once I'm done reading the books I got for Christmas. Bunch of redditor-tier pleb shit (as is most of the stuff on my shelf) but I'm trying to turn that around.
>>
>>64588053
If it was the UK it would be 18-3-16.
>>
>>64587659
Trailer makes the movie looks so pretentious and full of itself.

REEEEEEEEEEEEE

Sick fucking poster, looks like a cover for an SF short story collection from the 70s.

Shit's dope. I love 70's-esque posters.
>>
>>64590745
It actually looks very much like some of the covers of the book.
>>
I was really looking forward to this movie, but it fucking sucked.

It's like 1/4 wayyyy too long and by the end you're sitting there super antsy just praying for it to be over. The aesthetic is visually great, but it's just such a fucking BORING movie. To me, it felt like a very simplistic message and story that could have been told in half an hour stretched out to what, 2 and a half? Three hours? I can't remember, it honestly felt like a 6 hour movie. It's also full of "ACTING", I guess going for a Shakespearean or Brazil feel but it just falls sooo fucking flat.

One of my highest anticipated movies of the year ended up being one of my least favorite.
>>
>>64590959

To further expand upon it.

I could kind of see what he was going for, the slow descent into madness and chaos, where there's no singular event that makes everything go to shit (by the time that event happens, everything is already lunacy). Which sounds awesome on paper, and like a very unique storytelling device. But in realty, it just means a bunch of wasted screen time and dull scenes. Tbh senpai it's like a low rent Brazil, that's the vibe I got off it at least.
>>
>>64588576

And it's not like American Psycho. You really expect the protagonist will be a lot like Bateman from the first scene of the movie, but he's completely forgettable. I guess the last act he becomes a complete nihilist, but it's more of a "I don't give a shit" meandering than a "revel in the chaos" American Psycho.
>>
>>64587891
You know Clint Mansell scored this movie and Mass Effect 3?
>>
>>64590115
I really like The Drowned World too.
>>
Wheatley is based as fuck
>>
>>64592305
Yes, but it sounds like the ME2 score, not ME3
>>
>>64592444
You know the reason they just went ahead and hired Mansell was because the first scores kind of sounded like his work and that's what they wanted anyway, right?
>>
>>64587659
Whats going on here?

>>
>>64592548
The scores for ME1 and 2 sound absolutely fuck all like stuff Mansell has done before in fact.

Furthermore, the music in the trailer isn't Mansell's work. It's Tangerine, you clueless faggot.
>>
>>64588030
>Not convinced Hiddleston will bring it.
He does. It's his best acting role this year by far. What with his character being shit in Crimson Peak and he being unable to fake a southern accent in I saw the light.
>>
>>64590959
Are you me? I was hyped about this movie as well and it was dissappointing to say the least. It has a great score, though. But I guess I only liked this movie when it was over.

His films involve too much thinking and feeling for the capes & explosions crowd. Also not enough capes and explosions.

pretty stoked

Ben Wheatley can do no wrong. (Except for those Doctor Who episodes, but nu-who is shit so who can blame him.)
