Post video games that would make successful films.
>>64585316
Vice City would be better to be honest family
Halo
BioShock
Fallout
>/v/ here
Would love to see a Deus Ex Human Revolution movie. I did ask for this.
>>64585316
>Make an artistic film about GTA 3
>Focus it on Claude and his adventures
>He doesn't speak at all during the film
great choice
Metroid. Samus could to that Prometheus planet and wipe those albino aliens out.
>>64585585
Vice City is Scarface and a whole bunch of other 80s mafia movies all shoved together.
>>64585585
I'd make a Call of Duty movie about the true horrors of war. Showing that a billion dollar gaming franchise has been glorifying something horrible. Protagonist dies at the end from something stupid like a landmine.
>>64585700
Yeah they already made that, it's called DRIVE
Myth: The Fallen Lords
I would love a Halo movie trilogy. I really love that universe. The only problem is that Master Chief barely talks and you can't build a movie around that. Neither can you make a straight adaptation from the game, since 90% of the game is you actually shooting things. But this is a gripe that applies to all games you want to turn into a movie.
>>64585316
This would be fucking based.
>>64585888
Eh a film set way before any of that shit would be ten times more interesting the current canon is getting pretty stale...
>>64585935
I agree, the Forerunner saga is very interesting but it can only work if it has a connection to the "present" in Halo (2552)
>>64585316
I suppose any of the CoD games that aren't set in WWII/Nam.
I hate hotline miami but it could make a nice fast paced action movie
Half Life is also an interesting one
>>64585617
maybe if the director was 14 years old
>>64585316
>Not San Andreas
>>64586368
Directed by James Cameron
>>64586412
Was thinking Christopher McQuarrie.
>>64585316
>>64586504
I really like that film actually.
>>64585316
A movie based on the first map would be pretty cool. Have it show how you ended up there in the first place and what not
Also wouldn't mind if they did a movie based on Der Reise
>>64585316
fuck off /v/ kiddies
>>64585316
The Last of Us
/thread
>>64586799
Already is
Warcraft II and III.
Some Old republic spin-off.
Show Cameron how it's done
Why does video games trigger /tv/?
I'm not into them, but they're on the same level as tv shows
>>64586799
The Road
>>64585769
>Myth: The Fallen Lords
God yes or Soulblighter
Who wouldn't love a Mega Man movie IMAX 3d?
Eternal Darkness
>>64585700
FUCKING MUTE SNAKE
Kane & Lynch
>>64585755
'Sup
>>64586877
Been three done that.
>>64586799
thats already a movie famjam, and its not a very good one
>>64585316
>Metro 2033
>System Shock 2
>Shadowrun: Dragonfall
>Binary Domain
>Yakuza 2
They're all be shit movies in reality because nobody would try, but the potential is there.
>>64587089
Imagine a Metro 2033 movie directed by Ben Kingsley.
>>64585671
>Human Revolution
>>64587089
>SS2
I like how you think
>>64586872
It's just /a/'s repurposed scapegoat meme except it makes no sense here.
It's happening the joining of /v, and /tv. The game that would make a good movie is Skyrim.
>>64587140
not him, but why not? or make it two movies, moving from mechanical augmenations in the first one and into the nano ones from the first game in the second movie
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elQC62FUgqw
also i think DE:HR had really great propaganda leading up to the game
Legend of Zelda directed by Ridley Scott in the same vein as Legend. Lots of practical effects.
>>64587311
What a thrill
This directed by Del Taco
Portal movie about the ratman.
>>64587311
>Kaz, I'm already a movie
If Hollywood can bleed comic books, why can't they bleed Nintendo.
Zelda alone is 3 part trilogy.
>>64587260
>Directed by George Miller
>Produced by Scott
>>64587311
Universal Soldier: Day Of Reckoning is basically MGS
This, Directed by Nolan
Directed by NWR
>>64586844
Fuck yeah that game was a million times better than that shit movie. I guess you can play the whole thing on some website now, I forget what it was though.
>>64586443
>>64585729
All the GTA games are just mashups of every crime movie ever made.
For me, it's Psychonauts or Grim Fandango directed by Henry Selick.
>>64586368
Better yet, base it off of The Protomen Act II/I
Silent Hill 2
Hotline Miami
>>64587047
No I think he means a good movie based on Max Payne
Probably not starring Marky Mark
Anyone seen this movie?
It came out this year and it's supposed to be shot entirely from first person perspective.
They showed it at some festivals but there are no release dates yet.
Trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0GBeOnxA4M
>>64588897
>Hotline Miami
Just watch The Guest/Drive.
>>64586218
It's called Sicario
>>64588922
fuck that is not the trailer, not sure what happened
here:

>>64588922
>Roman Candle Attack Drone 2.0
>>64588922
>EVER
I do kinda wanna see it. Looks fun, plus based Sharlto
It'd make a good kino
None you pathetic paedo
Video games are trash worse than comics
>>64588933
I think HL done right would be more surreal then both those movies.
Obviously Hotline is heavily inspired by Drive, but it has enough of it's own world and vibe to justify a movie
Mega Man set in 2200 America.
He's a cyborg super cop sent to disrupt Dr. Wiley's takeover.
Think Speed Racer, but refined & a bit Raid Redemption... with proto plasmas.
>>64585316
Everybody in this thread can go back to /v/. No matter how much you've convinced yourself otherwise there are literally no videogames that have good plots. Videogame worlds are messes of different movie inspiration thrown together childishly and they can never be successfully adapted into a movie that someone who isn't a manchild obsessed with the game will enjoy.
I would love a duke nukem movie. Directed by Michael Bay
Or Blood
The Legend of Zelda but Zelda's a girl and the Princess is still a girl and they kiss and stuff.
>EarthBound
by Wes Anderson
>Portal
by JJ Abrams (thats even in the making right now i think). Hes hated here but quips n shit would fit perfectly
>Crazy Taxi
by Michael Bay
>LIMBO
by Goro Myazaki, Studio Ghibli
>Grim Fandango
by Pete Docter, PIXAR
>Day of the Tentacle
by Spielberg
>Monkey Island
by Rob Reiner
>Journey
by Michael Dante DiMartino
>Red Dead Redemption
by PTA
>Metal Gear Solid
by Hideo Kojima
>Shadow of the Colossus
by Nolan (weird choice i know, but it would interest me what he would do with it)
these are the ones id like to see
>>64589163
oh and i forgot
>Half-Life
by Neill Bloomkamp
>>64589163
Why do you only know pleb garbage directors?
>>64589198
because like video games these directors are very superficial. Thats why it would be a good fit.
sorry that i didnt mention Bergman or Lang friend
>>64588942
Holy crap that looks so awful
Looks like it was made amatuerly by teenage Call of Duty players
Homeworld would make for a great film or even a miniseries, if done smartly.
It's a simple enough story, but on a grand scale to keep things interesting and rich.
>>64589163
>the portal movie
That will not be made in years most likely never
>>64589010
I guess.
I'd be down to see a lot of overhead shots in that.
I'm trying to figure out what kind of a vidya Sam Raimi could direct.
Not many vidya that are his particular brand of cheesy.
I know it's not the best game in the series but I think it would translate the best into a movie. Also most likely to because it's so popular.
Sam and Max
>>64589163
a Grim Fandango film could be pretty cool, maybe a stop motion film like corpse brode or Nightmare before christmas
>>64590500
would be better as a TV series don't you think?
>GTA 3, or any other GTA game, would make a great movie
>implying they all aren't just a mishmash hodgepodge of better crime movies already
just watch The Usual Suspects or something
>>64590543
yeah maybe on Syfy i think it could turn out alright
>>64590633
with each episode being about a differant mind, I think the humour could pass over really well and a long running series would allow the already goo charecters to be fleshed out more
>>64590493
Like I said earlier man, Henry fuckin' Selick (director of Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline)
>>64590690
I didn't reconise the name but yeah, I think it would be a really good watch
related
>>64590731
I fuckin' love noir-based games. I don't remember Hotel Dusk too well aside from the name and artstyle though.
>>64590767
A storytelling masterpiece. My favortie game
All these choices are shit desu
Get on my level
Dead Space with a big budget would be a great film desu senpai
>>64590942
oh shit that would be good
Make it in the same spirit as the LOTR fantasy.
Despite ALL evidence pointing to the contrary, I still think there's a way to make a good Hitman movie.
Secret: Make 47 more like a horror movie villain, an efficient master of disguise without conscience. The actual ultimate killing machine.
Played by Mark Strong, Corey Stoll, or Jason Statham (though I'm not sure about that last one).
>>64591206
it would be a fun Bmovie
Silent Hill 2 is basically an interactive movie in the best sense of the word. Impeccable style, framing and atmosphere.
>>64589060
>he watches films for the plot
Hahaha
back to /v/
>>64585316
No video game movie is good. Look at the past. Come the fuck on, /tv/. Grow the fuck up.
>>64586474
Umm... already happened. It was garbage.
>>64591548
ahem, I think you are mistaken
>>64586474
Directed by Cronenberg or Carpenter, fuck, why not both
Always wondered how a movie based of this would be like.
>Sleeping Dogs
by Takashi Miike
>Persona 4
by Shinya Tsukamoto
>Dark Souls
by Nicolas Refn
Haven't played much else lately so I'm pretty devoid of idea honestly, but these look so fucking good in my mind
>>64592368
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20xsntIVokk
Already happened.
>>64592368
It already has a movie. Well, not this one, the first one.
>>64592711
did you watch it?
>>64590731
Obviously Fincher
>>64585316
>video games based on successful films
fixed
>>64585316
>>64586504
>Post video games that would make successful films.
>successful
>>64591181
>Jason Statham as Agent 47
Would be bretty gud as a silent protagonist
>>64585316
>Halo
Halo has had multiple films, and they are all shit.
>>64585769
finally someone with taste. we just need to buy the right back from rare or whatever the fuck, make sure bungie cant fuck it up, and hire back the martin o donnell team for the music
its...just so easy...
The whole point/appeal of video games is largely to take the settings of movies and to give the consumer the experience of manipulating it.
Pretty much all games take their ideas from movies so when you make a movie from a game it just ends up being a watered-down version of something that existed decades prior.
>>64585617
A Fallout movie could really work. As long as it wasn't a straight adaption of one of the games and was an original story that had lot of the lore incorporated into it.
>>64590431
It would be better as an tv show/anime. A movie would not be long enough to cover half of what they need to.
