I also have considered that they chose an actress who has visual similarities to Natalie Portman and even gave her the infamous pastry-chef hair of Leia and Padme, but also that she has a High Couriscant (British) accent, and only a small handful of Star Wars heroes fit that description in the original trilogy.

If it's revealed that Rey is Luke's daughter and Obi-Wan's grand daughter, it probably will be revealed in a numbered episode, and then the backstory about her mother will be revealed in the Obi-Wan movie that they are trying to get Ewan McGreggor to sign on for.

It would be kind of an interesting development if it turns out that the hero of the new trilogy is both a Kenobi and a Skywalker-- the granddaugther of both Obi-Wan and Anakin, posessing traits of both families. I would actually be quite well in favor of it.

If Luke hooked up with Obi-Wan's daughter, it would actually make a bit of sense-- Luke was Obi-Wan's apprentice, and reminds her of him in a good way. He modeled himself very much after Obi-Wan's example because Obi-Wan was one of the only Jedi he ever met. Especially in Luke's older years, when he got the beard.

The missing piece of the puzzle would obviously be Rey's mother, assuming Luke is her father. Rey's mother would be Obi-Wan's daughter, who would have probably been born after the Clone Wars and would have shacked up with Luke after Return of the Jedi.

If she is the grand daughter of Obi-Wan and Anakin, then suddenly her knack for the force is put into perspective. She has Anakin's power but Obi-Wan's discipline.
