So I've meet a guy once online and he recommended a movie for me to watch it was a French movie with subtitles.(I forget the name of it) it was pretty disturbing... It was something about A guy who was a pornstar that went crazy and at the end of the movie his brother kidnapped his wife and son. And the brother told him that the girl under the sheets was porn star so the father being drugged up and all ended up having sex with his son... Really fucked up movie... I wanted to know If anyone knows of any other fucked up international movies with subs that they've seen. Don't get me wrong I'm not looking for child porn movies just looking for a movie that will make you say at the end... "WTF DID I JUST WATCH?" I prefer horror or thriller.
More like A Serbian Flick, t b h
>What's so bad about A Serbian Film?
I don't think it's bad, I thought it was a hilariously edgier-than-thou movie. Great to watch and laugh with friends. The people trying to read deeper meanings into it, if I may, just don't get it.
I havent watched the movie but ive read the plot in Wikipedia.
It seems like shock value bullshit with no entertaining worth. The producers, directors, and people in charge of the movie were most likely pedos who wanted to make a movie for other sick minded people.
Forgot the name, could Google it but I'm lazy, but basically Gary Oldman is in Spain I think, hunting in the woods with a family and there's a band of rapists who like to capture and rape women. There's plenty of rape scenes I can manage, but something about a bunch of nasty hairy Spaniards raping in a cabin is uncalled for.
>I thought it was a hilariously edgier-than-thou movie. Great to watch and laugh with friends
>The people trying to read deeper meanings into it, if I may, just don't get it.
I don't remember, the producer goes on a rant about how the media fucks over Serbia or how Serbia's history is just about being fucked or something
Yeah, I've read that in the papers I think. There's also a prominent horror critic/blogger sort of guy who calls himself Ghoul whose ridiculous review basically made it sound like the greatest cinematic accomplishment ever. Such a shame it's only in Serbian.
>how the media fucks over Serbia
Considering Serbia fucked up the whole XX century they have no rights to complain.
No really all the fucking problems in the modern era comes from some fucking Serbian retard going REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE at Karl Franz and killing him for no reason.
Fuck Serbia and their greedy ass.
Can you give4 a gist of what his review is about? Sounds intriguing.
Looked up a quote from the director:
>first of all this film is an honest expression of the deepest feelings that we have about our region and the world in general. Concerning our region, the last few decades have been dominated by war and political and moral nightmares. The world in general is sugar-coated in political correctness, but it is actually very rotten under that facade. So we’re talking about problems in the modern world, only they’re set in Serbia. And it’s a struggle against all the corrupt authorities that govern our lives for their own purposes. So yes, there is anger in the film.
>The major metaphorical take was to treat real life as pornography. The main character in the film could be a singer, a manager or a baker; he would end up the same -- rape and [then be] killed.
>Of course, there is a kind of political and social level to the film, but I didn’t want to make any kind of political statement. I’m not running for president. I didn’t want to express my political choices. But it was inevitable, because in Serbia a big part of our lives is about politics. In Serbia, the biggest stars on television are politicians. It also looks like pornography; it’s about power, influence and all of those things. The last few decades of war have left a political and social nightmare here in Serbia.
>So all those things are just combined. It was accumulating inside of us. It’s all about expressing some recessed emotions about our region and the world also. If you scratch the perfect surface of society in today’s world, you will of course find bad things down there. You will find the living hell down there. I’m talking about Serbia, about Serbian problems. But it’s also a universal story.
I meant the producer/director in the film's rant.
I honestly can't remember much more than BABYFUCK, the rant happening and the shock ending (I watched it drunk with some friends after we heard that the government had banned it here)
>Vukmir [the porn director] is a true believer in the things he does and of that society and industry. He is also an exaggerated representation of the new European film order. In Eastern Europe, you cannot get your film financed unless you have a barefoot girl who cries on the streets, or some story about war victims in our region. But of course, you should never go too deep, or show tough scenes, or point out the problems. Just say, it’s a hard life, we experienced war, we don’t have anything to eat, we don’t have any love, any family. And if you do that, you’ll receive $5 million. And that’s the only way you can get your film financed in Eastern Europe. So Vukmir represents that. He believes in this system, but he’s passionate, he’s going all the way, he wants to show a real victim. Also because the Western world has lost feelings, so they’re searching for false ones, they want to buy feelings. It’s like they’ll feel more human if they see victims and feel sorry, ‘oh we’re still human, we can feel sorry’ – but that’s a lie. That’s what Vukmir does, and he really believes that Milos is not a victim because he adores him, he’s his hero. He really believes he’s doing the right thing, that he’s a supporter of our region’s economy.
"A SERBIAN FILM wants to fuck you without seducing you. instead of winking at you and serving you boxes of candy, it offers you a sledgehammer and a dildo. A SERBIAN FILM is, therefore, the negation and systematic trampling on of everything that the phrase "a serbian film" has meant in the last 20+ years or so."
"that's where the company's name comes from - CONTRA FILM. this really is a CONTRARIAN FILM, an affront to what people dare to call serbia's film production."
"A SERBIAN FILM is a knockout to all that - a wad of spit full of blood and bile spat into the face of this kind of serbia and that kind of serbian film. the strength of this knockout isn't (only) in the shocking scenes (which are present, and oh are they present! i'll talk about it later, no spoilers...), not in the pornography, the horror, the splatter, the gushing of sperm and blood... the knockout is in the fact that this is not some sick orgy filmed with a cheapy camera with a bunch of friends and neighbors that goes direct-to-DVD: the most shocking thing to most people who'll see A SERBIAN FILM is the VERY HIGH LEVEL OF PROFESSIONALISM IN THE EXECUTION. fantastic acting, amazing camerawork [...] fantastically modern and effective electro-industrial score, ambitious and succesful SFX [...] and direction that knows what it wants to accomplish and does exactly that."
It goes on and on and on... his style is hard to read and very rambling.
That's an interesting perspective and I can certainly understand what he's saying, but if I'd never read that, I don't think I would've gotten it from watching A Serbian Film. I thought it was a decent shock-thriller, but I would not have picked up on any of that as subtext.
I think it's The Backwoods. Decent movie, but I remember thinking it was a Straw Dogs ripoff when I saw it. Oldman makes anything watchable, even when he seems to be phoning it in. Not every movie can be State of Grace though.
If I remember right, the director said it was a metaphor for Serbian life. You get fucked from birth (the newborn scene) until after death (the final scene after the family's murder-suicide when they get ready to film their dead bodies being fucked on camera). "Start with the boy". Fucked-up/10.
