>>64552869 women, in general, need less food/water to function than men and have the same mental capacity. The use of tools and nature of space travel negates their lack of strength. In short, it makes more economical sense to have female astronauts.
>>64553071 Women are neurologically more adept at emotional and linguistic mastery while men are better at logical and spatial reasoning. Obviously that does not negate outliers but the probability of a majority of women in those positions is practically impossible.
>>64553538 Because he has empathy. After training and working that closely with a group of people for as long as they had, you develop a close almost familial relationship to each other. Imagine the sorrow a sibling would feel if they lost their brother or sister. You wouldn't want that for someone you care about.
>>64553564 I don't think you know what outlier implies. I'm not saying it's impossible to have enough women to fill those positions. I'm saying it's practically impossible for it to actually have it happen given how many more men would be applying.
>>64553669 I understand fully what an outlier is, and what it means in respect to the number of male applicants. Also, it's in no way practically impossible for a space agency to be more discriminatory than it already is.
My central point was that women, being generally smaller and needing less sustenance would be more ideal candidates for space travel in the economic sense if they could of course, be mentally suited to the role.
>>64552869 Because men don't bitch and whine in droves when there aren't enough men in a popular movie. Women, (see feminist cunts) do bitch. So play it safe and make an unrealistic amount of women or a Mary Sue and they will eat it up.
Majority of university students are currently female. In 10 years, the majority of working academics will be female. In 20 years, the majority of leadership positions in academia will be female. By 30 years, most faculty deans will be female.
It's too late to change. The damage is done. It's just going to take a generation or two to take effect.
>>64553856 Yes. But you're only right if you consider nothing but the baseline nutritional needs. Men are more physically resilient overall and because of the aforementioned neurological differences, better suited for long term isolation.
The physical superiority of baseline men matters very little in a vacuum. As to your second point, one would think (and hope) that the candidate process would include a psychological evaluation, given that being suited to long term isolation is a must.
I think overall you are overstating the inherent differences of the sexes mentally but the point is rather moot on both our ends because regardless of biology I concede fully that most women do not have the drive or desire to pursue careers in space, even those well-suited to it.
>>64553071 >women, in general, need less food/water to function than men... Only in the sense that women tend to have less body mass, but if you compare a 50 kg male and a 50 kg female the male will require less fluid and nutrition simply because men don't menstruate. >...and have the same mental capacity. Without making any implications as to WHY it is so, the sciences are dominated by men by huge margins, enough so that even if you eliminated all candidates above 50 kg you would still have at least twice as many qualified men as women.
>>64553538 A group of people sent to mars would have a tighter connection than families. You're not alone on a planet/in space with your family, you go off and see other people all the time. These guys only had each-other for what I assume is years. Of course you'd be upset if your tighter-than-family social group didn't know you were alive.
>>64557320 To earth's orbit, not to fucking Mars and back. You have to pack a rocket and fuel enough to take them from Mars' surface back to orbit, and to do that they require even more fuel on the ship taking them to Mars.
>>64552869 >mfw women and feminists have convinced themselves that once they're free of earths gravity millions of years of evolution and genetic lineage that have molded them into baby makers will somehow evaporate and they will become super astronauts
If anything it's the complete opposite, you're actually the WORST sex to fucking send into space and survive.
>>64558325 Women are much less likely to go into science simply because their interests are elsewhere. Some scientific fields are dominated by women though, go to any medical school in the first world and you will see more women than men, simply because that is where their interests tend to lie.
>>64552869 >Why were the majority of the crew/scientists in this film women?
They weren't. There were two women on the crew to four men. Back on Earth, there was one female scientist and one female PR rep, and the woman from the Chinese space agency, with meaningful speaking roles, compared to many more men.
There's actually an interesting hypothesis that men mentally over-represent women compared to their actual presence, seeing a room a quarter full of women as half-full of them, and a room half-full of women as being majority full and such. There might be some evolutionary benefit to that, I don't know, but it goes a long way towards explaining why men have trouble seeing a lack of representation in various areas.
>>64559528 I swear to god some people just choose to ignore what you stated and keep pushing the fact that there need to be more woman in STEM fields so we need to positively discriminate woman or some shit No fuck you retarded femlard there is no need to force anything.
>>64560116 Feminism is a dual edged sword of hypocrisy on this subject.
On one side they are fighting, delcaring women are equal tobetter than men. Capable of making their own decisions and able to do whatever they wish to in this life.
The other side states that women are too easily manipulated. Incapable of making thier own choices and going down the path they feel is right. So they must be pushed into fields they don't belong in, because otherwise they wouldn't go there.
>>64560468 >The same reason why Nick Fury is now black.
That had nothing to do with polictical correctness. When Marvel switched things up with the Ultimate universe they decided to have Nick Fury be Samuel L Jackson. Not a black dude for the sake of diversity, but straight up Samuel L Jackson because they were obsessed with referencing celebrities. SLJ agreed to them using his likeness on the basis that he'd get to play Nick Fury the next time they put him in a movie.
This is also the reason why SLJ Nick Fury is so shit: he's literally a meme-version of Nick with the mannerisms of SLJ's past roles. If he was just black he wouldn't be half as bad.
