ITT: recent films(last 4 years) that are objectively free of White Shame/SJW/Shill propaganda
Yeah it's a really bad, simplistic moral structure, completely fails to speak in an intelligent way about warfare, terrorism or modern conflict.
It's an incredibly lazy movie. Eastwood should have stopped directing in 2009
I liked this movie. In my opinion the story was about how people are affected psychologically by living in slavery.
The only really bad part was Brad Pitt. It felt a bit boring that it was him in particular just dancing in out of nowhere and saving the protagonist.
to be fair, that's pretty much what happened in real life
if they had altered it it would have been dishonest, but keeping it the same caused it to be somewhat cinematically uninteresting... oh well. kind of a no-win situation
Totally unnecessary flick.
Best movie about slavery is already shot.
Story's fine. It was the casting that bothered me. Can't really explain why but it somehow felt wrong to have this super-well-known actor show up as the perfect gentleman. I instantly knew when I saw it: "allright, Brad's here, everything will be OK now".
Did they show the part where the idiot thought he knew more than a certified psychiatrist about PTSD, brought his terrified buddy to the shooting range, and got shot for his stupidity?
Or that he isn't even in the top 10 of successful snipers in history [even a Finnish girl beat his "record."]? Or that a lot of shit isn't verified at all?
Or his bullshit Jesse Ventura lie?
It may not be full out propaganda, but it is a fictional film with about as much basis in reality as The Force Awakens.
But that would be one shot. I'd rather hear about
Ukranian, not Finnish
Or anyone else
>bad, simplistic moral structure, completely fails to speak in an intelligent way about warfare, terrorism or modern conflict
I took that as the point. Eastwood's gotten loopier over the years, sure. But Look at Pale Ride from 30 years ago, it's the same sort of plot setup. The American Hero meta-narrative is failing but at the same time that's the idea that's holding us altogether for Eastwood.
>honest patriotism is worse than blatant SJW hypocrisy
Some battle scenes are good but the film's structure with its flashbacks is kinda annoying
also it's very melodramatic at times
still a lot better than enemy at the gates
>Glorifies a pathological liar/psychopath
