Eh, I always assumed the character was supposed to be average looking since Jones' whole thing is that she isn't the ideal of a superhero, and actually failed at it. However, seeing as Kilgrave dropped everything to get JJ to bone her unconditionally and men seem to want to fuck her instantly, it seemed kind of silly for her to be both average and incredibly hot. I think Ritter is attractive but unconventionally so, but I'm not sure what the show was going for.

I have no idea, probably because it's a terribly written show.
