Why did Yoda talk like a retard in the prequels?
I figured it was the way his species' native language structures sentences that caused him to talk that way in English, even though we never once see him speak another language.
It's kind of like how Asian people tend to forgo Articles when they're speaking English, even if they've been here for years.
>my ally the force is
>judge me by my size do you?
>when 800 years you will reach, look so good you will not
>the last of the Jedi will you be
>your father he is
He talks like that in the OT as well. I can't decide whether it stands out more in the prequels because they overdid it or because he just had more lines
Is it? Spot the real Yoda quote:
>Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.
>Of everything you fear to lose, train yourself to let go.
>Pass on what you have learned.
>What you have learned, pass on.
>That is why you fail.
>Why you fail, that is.
He has that manner of speech all throughout the saga, but it's treated with much more rigidity in the prequels whereas in the originals it was something he lapsed into and out of as needed.
It also helps that the dialogue in the original trilogy was deliberately written to be accomodating of his unique speech pattern where it was used, rather than full of awkward aphorisms like "Not if anything to say about it, I have" like the prequels.
It's because in the OT he's some sage hermit living in the swamp, it'd be weird if he didn't talk with some quirks.
In the prequels he's basically a professor/4-star general, so it's weird and jarring.
This is pretty simple, when they wrote the prequels they forgot that Yoda was a 900yo Jedi master who had a deep understanding of the force and basically didnt need to use a weapon as he could probably kill a creature with his mind if he was so inclined. They realised this doesn't play well to small children as theres no really *flash* to it. So they had to make Prequel Yoda, who lets not forget at this point is like like 800, bounce around like a retarded fuck head and permentantly speak retarded.
If you've heard foreign people who know English quite well speak, they sometimes get grammar/context mixed up. Thats basically what Yoda was doing + wanting Luke to underestimate him. Which was part of his training. Which was all forgotten for the Prequels.
Fuck the Prequels. And fuck TFA.
I'VE WAITED A LOOONG TIME FOR THIS, MY.. LITTLE
It's called anastrophe. That's the language term for Yoda speak. I learned that today in school ;3
You guys are retarded. He spoke this way in the originals too. This manner of speech isn't retarded by the way, in Russian, for example, you can talk like that and it will be perfectly correct. It just might sound more poetic or old or something.
The difference is whether you do it because you have a heavy accent, that is not all the time. Or do you do it for every other fucking sentence because you're a retard who doesn't speak the language at all.
>When he wanted Luke to think he was a retard
Yoda's sanity was questionable in the OT.
He went from a serious, troubled jedi commander in the prequels to a semi-crazy fool in 30 years.
I hope they use the Yoda Hulk design to depict him in his prime.
