>new episode tonight
Did anyone watch it? I'm living in a shitland where it doesn't air on tv so waiting for the torrent.
Well I live in Siberia so no I haven't seen it.
Hopefully they manage to keep their shit together, they have about six factions of people to write about in the show.
>People who attacked Mars and the ship
+the mormon builder.
+the crew of the ship who found the bait ship.
that's a lotta fucking strings
It airs in about 9 hours from now on the east coast.
Looking forward to it. Having read the book todays episode will be most likely about
the cant remaining crew on the Mars corvette getting to the station were the mormon ship is being built and their dealings with him, as he a non-radical OPA
It doesn't. Actually belterfags can be divided into cool belterfags and opa belterfags. mormon guy will probably join cool belterfags once opabelters and opa itself prove themselves too radical for him.
I would have forgot. Nice, i finally have something to watch while i get drunk alone. It's been a few weeks since anything new has been on.
Also, i feel like syfy fucked up royally releasing the first 4 eps at the same time and then nothing for a month. If it weren't for the rare thread here i would have probably forgotten all about this show
what do you suppose is the deal with the memory crypt thing in Miller's storyline? That never happened in the books. It's presumably there to dump some info that they won't have time to obtain in the same way as in the books, but what info?
>Also, i feel like syfy fucked up royally releasing the first 4 eps at the same time and then nothing for a month.
I do think this is a valid criticism but maybe they were counting on the hooking effect of episode 3 and 4, and were in hurry to push it forward and gain audience.
well at least I'm hooked
>Also, i feel like syfy fucked up royally releasing the first 4 eps at the same time and then nothing for a month. If it weren't for the rare thread here i would have probably forgotten all about this show
Pretty sure it's comcast that leaked 3&4 before episode 2 aired. Then syfy released them online so they would at least get some revenue rather than everyone just viewing the torrents.
Any webm requests from the first 4 episodes?
It's pretty cool they're trying to account for g-forces, instead of being lazy and just saying "inertial dampeners", even though the magic injection is kind of retarded in its own right
they tried to replicate the quality of bsg and this show despite in some ways having better quality content lacks that atmospheric quality bsg/sgu had.
In most categories, killjoys and DA are basically dumpsterfire tier compared to the expanse
It's not he's just a stargatefag. Expanse is far better than Killjoys and Dark Matter (They've actually spent some money on it for starters).
at least the "Juice" is in the books and its designed to keep you awake or put you under (depending on your needs) in High G.
Episode 5 the MCRN officer will most likely die from High-G causing his injuries to get worse
People actually liked SGU?
SG-1 and SGA, sure, but SGU was disliked by a lot of folks.
Indeed, they are trying, which is a good sign.
>People actually liked SGU?
SGU is watchable IMO, it just suffers from the fact that the stargate franchise being a bit tired at the time, and in being so obvious in the way it tried to ape BSG.
They will need a good actor for
the project lead
I really thought they would have the battle last all of five or 10 mins. Episode 4 was amazing just for delivering that battle and hitting all the high points.
>Still taking webm requests
Already has season two ordered
As the second season has already been confirmed, you'll have to wait at least a year.
Sure, give me a sec
Crap, misspelled the title on that one.
Hasn't Dark Matter stolen enough of the cast?
I thought he was alrite actually.
A couple of the background characters are wearing masks there.
actually think he doing a fine job. his story only becomes good
after he gets fired and goes to Eros
I would have to make the subtitles from scratch, which is a PITA. If you have a scene with sound you want I rather just post it to /wsg/ and make it with sound.
>1st season isn't even half out yet
>already renewed for 2nd season
is space scifi saved?
The one where the guy gets his head shot off and you see the blood getting sucked through the hole in the ship.
>is space scifi saved?
For a year at least. It's still a relatively expensive show for syfy.
SGU wasn't bad, it just wasn't Stargate. It tried way too hard to emulate Battlestar Galactica, which left the fans of campy, comfy shows like SG1 and SG Atlantis with the wrong taste in their mouth.
Imagine you take a sip of something you expect to be orange juice, but instead you taste strong black coffee.
Perhaps with the new sense of optimism both in the economy and with NASA we'll see space based sci-fi take off again.
Right now we have the expanse, dark matter and KSR's mars on the way. Star trek is brewing a new series, maybe we'll finally see some new Stargate too.
And who knows, maybe something original will appear on the horizon with a decent team behind it.
I don't know if people realized we figured that tech out decades ago when we still had tube television but whatever, they can articulate why they're retarded. They just don't realize it. Or they do and it is to entertain us.
It's doing well by the books so far.
It has taken a couple of liberties (the Roci crew are a bit more hostile towards each other to begin with), but it's very easy to argue that they were needed to bridge the gap between book and show. I think by season's end that'll all be worked out.
Hottest girl on the show?
Hottest girl on the show.
>and with NASA
This is very important. The government wants people to like the idea of space again. We might see more high budget sci-fi series/movies next decade.
>you are alive just in time to experience the mars landing
Yeah, I guess they might of made the guy who was the intel officer in the book the XO, as they also merged the character Kelly with him.
last one I think I have of the show so far.
Guess I will wrap up and say
>would navigate, if you know what I mean.
It's basically Babylon 5 with 17 years worth of advancement in CGI. Budget, acting, writing, etc all seem to be fairly comparable and thematically they're very similar.
They cannot even explain why they're getting kinetic reactions in a drive prototype that shouldn't work by our understanding of physics and yet each time they test it, they're still getting something beyond the error rate.
The Expanse has better budget and sets, acting is about the same (Minus no actor so far is at the level of Andreas Katsula) Writing is better then season 1 of B5, but not as good as what we remember B5 for (season 2-4).
Episode one 7/10
Episode two 5/10
Episode three 8/10
Episode four 9/10
I suspect episode 5 will be a 7/10 based off the source material, as it a bridge episode before the next big chain of events.
That is how good the writing is because of how dated everything else was and shitty sets.
The writing built the mystery, the tension and atmospherics. This show doesn't have that at all in the writing. It has mystery but that is it.
The acting is nowhere near the same, stop being an apologist. Sheridan, Delenn, G'Kar, Londo, those alone are distinct but if you add in minor characters and other world building elements, the show is nowhere near yet.
Maybe in a few years my opinion will change but we'll see.
Some of the cgi was pretty terrible on this show when the fighters were coming at the main ship, it looked really bad.
The acting is better then Sheridan and Delenn, and I stated quite clearly that no one is at good as Andreas Katsula (G'Kar) Shohreh Aghdashloo (Chrisjen Avasarala ) is as good as Peter Jurasik (Londo). Also from here on Chad L. Coleman will be playing a key person.
I love Babylon 5, and it had great writing, exp season 2-4.
But Lets not try to argue that Bruce Boxleitner, Jerry Doyle, Tracy Scoggins,Jeff Conaway, Claudia Christian and Michael O'Hare are great actors.
I am not disagreeing that Andreas Katsulas was better then anyone, and only one rises to the level of Peter Jurasik. (Shohreh Aghdashloo)
Out of any other show I would agree with you, Boxleitner is made of wood, but what he is, that was what the part needed. Kismet in terms of acting well enough and making the other players give him space to work in the scenes, they made him funny, likable well beyond what the part should be.
Just look at season 1 in terms of different people basically in the same role.
To be fair to season 1 guy, he was going nuts.
I would give the likability of Boxleitner not on his acting ability, but on the brilliant writing. I would say that season 2-4 of Babylon 5 might be the best written 60 or so episodes of TV.
I will say that O'Hare issues were the cause of him being a epicly bad actor, while Boxleitner did good journeyman work.
O'hare punched a girl on set and all other sorts of crazy shit.
Anyone know of a SyFy stream? Just moved so I haven't gotten TV turned on yet.
I enjoy both coffee and orange juice.
