How bad will this flop?
its a greenscreen shitshow
but it won't flop because warcraft is a normie game now
I think you're underestimating the ability of the man child to inflate earning. Their parents will give them money to go see it just to get them out of the house so they don't have to look at them or interact with them at all for 3 hours.
>Suddenly I understand the producers' decision not to shitcan it when it became obvious it was hopelessly bad.
Yeah that's exactly the reason why it was moved from spring to summer release date, going againts capeshit.
How retarded can you get?
Is he in the jail cell?
Good human. Racemix with the orc. Diversity is your strength.
I'm going to be very disappointed if there's no Leeroy Jenkins joke in this movie.
Yeah, when I saw a trailer for this before TFA the guy sitting behind me turned to his friend and commented on how "fucking sick" it looked.
Seconding, I'd like to see this.
I interested to see whether it's a terrible movie or not? I kinda hope it's as awful as Dragonball Evolution, which would make for a fun watch.
It's based on a videogame, looks like a lotr rip off and is probably going to be greenscreened to fuck. It'll be a shit movie no doubt, but the fanbase will stop it from being a total disaster at the box office.
I'd put money on there being a shitty, token Leeroy Jenkins reference somewhere.
Going with Orcs vs. Humans for their first movie is absolutely beyond retarded
It's the most boring part of the story. It could have been done as a prequel if they really wanted to do it at some point.
Arthas trilogy would have been 10 times as likely to actually not flop.
>First movie ends when he slaughters Stratholme
>Second movie ends when he runs off into the frozen wastes after killing Mal'ganis
>Third movie ends with him summoning Archimonde
>Massive potential for more movies
I actually like WoW lore and I don't want to see this movie. I think the majority of WoW players don't give 2 shits about the lore at all, I just don't see who this is for.
And it's not even the good stuff. This is like the Silmarillion, the pre-lore that no one but the most autistic care about.
>This is like the Silmarillion, the pre-lore that no one but the most autistic care about
Pretty much this
WC2 story at least somehow ties into the story in WoW
But WC1? It's literally irrelevant at this point. All that matters is that orcs came into Azeroth and Stormwind got rekt, that's it.
But shots like this are literally perfect!
I don't know why they insist on waiting until everyone's over the buzz and lost interest in these properties until making a movie.
Are they going to make a Breaking Bad movie now?
>WC2 story at least somehow ties into the story in WoW
I would even be down for them to just jump right into WC3. You can tell the back-story in like 5 minutes of exposition
>A demonic portal opened up back in the day
>Orcs came out, war happened
>Humans triumphed and now we have the Orcs in internment camps and shit creating weird societal conflict.
That wouldn't even be too hard for normies to jump into. Aliens invade - humanity wins, but shit got weird. Annnd go.
We'd get Arthas and Thrall and shit, the "birth" of Sylvannas that's who we want to see. I don't want to see Thrall as a fucking baby, god damnit George Lucas.
100mil domestic..... hahahhahahahahhahahahahahahhaha
they take that in a week of subscriptions alone and if if subs have dropped think of the 100 of millions of people that played it over the last 10 years, some of them are going to be interested or rused about this, I for hell am I still going to see it in IMAX even though i dont play this shit anymore, looks great and is hitting my nostalgia big time
Here's how storytelling works: you don't have to always start with Adam and Eve
You can just skip into the interesting bits, because your goal is to keep the audience interested, not bore them to death.
>muh arthas movies
Fuck that shitty vader clone, not only his story is lame and told one thousand times it will be stupid for marketing reasons to throw a movie where most of the story is never explained to the audience who has no clue about blizzard's shitty games.
They want the general audience so the story must be easy to follow for everyone.
Don't deny where you came from faggot, you don't need to be here
Yeah, pretty much this.
And if they actually succeeded with the WC3 plot, they could have made prequels of WC1 and WC2.
They should have gone with the Marvel approach
>Make an Arthas movie that establishes some major characters
>Make a Thrall movie that established the rest of the major characters
>Make a Burning Legion invasion movie (possibly split into two parts) that introduces Illidan and uses characters from both previous movies
The worst part about this is that they very likely have a trilogy in mind where 2 and 3 will cover the good parts of the franchise, like arthas and illidan, but they felt they needed to "introduce" the universe in a first movie first
They'll likely break the back on the entire project off of this movie alone. Feels pretty bad when you think about what could've been.
Arthas story line is way too boring compared to LotR. Add that to people being curious about events being mentioned every 5 minutes and not shown and you have a pretty good straight to DVD movie.
No, you don't understand. I actually do like the story all the way from the start, even before WC1. But you don't build a success of a movie on a tiny group of base dwelling neckbeards
such as myselfthat care about these parts of the story.
> those armor designs for the humans
Fucking really? He actually really did bring the Looney Tunes fucking cartoon design bullshit from the game and put it in their movie? That armor can only ever be made out of styrofoam because it looks too fucking bulky and unwieldy.
Why is the art direction in Warcraft so fucking bad?
Why did he have the tent?
>Orcs presented as rational beings fleeing from their dying home world
>not as bloodthirsty warmongering barbaric dindus leaving the world they destroyed to conquer another
What's the point of a Warcraft movie if you aren't going to remain faithfull to Warcraft and its aesthetics? I think the armor designs look good.
Because it started as a 2D sprite based RTS that needed the exaggerated art style for players to quickly differentiate one blob of pixels from another. Then became a 3D RTS with the same requirement, except for polygons. Then became a 3Dmmorpg with, again, the same requirements.
But considering the source material is just a slightly wrinkled version of warhammer, the only unique aspect it has is the god-awful art direction.
>LotR was easy to follow for everyone
It wasn't. I swear that I literally can't watch the movie with a women (that hasn't read the books) without having to explain some ridiculous shit everyone can get if he's listening. Fuck, it's not only women, though they're the ones who ask constantly (dudes just shut up waiting for the epic scene).
There's no way it couldn't make its budget back as it's only 100 million and they're already shilling the shit outta the Chinese who will save this movie with their audience alone.
Orcs are Turkish m8
They literally have names derived from Turkish with -ul and -ash endings. Europeans' enemies for hundreds of years was the eternal Turk not fucking black people
>They literally have names derived from Turkish with -ul and -ash endings.
I was going to say that sounds like you're grasping at very distant straws but since you said LITERALLY then you must be right!
Orcs are not turks, they're just random barbarians. Mixmax of mongol and viking. They have turkish sounding names because turk names sound like they're out of Mordor, not the other way around. There's even a meme image of orcs from LOTR with female turkish names under them, they just sound orcish.
>Implying Tolkien didn't base his books off folklore
The movies going to do well there's no denying it, sorry guy
Who would you cast as Thrall, Arthas, Illidan, or any other major characters we'll end up seeing
assuming that this won't be the flop of the century?
What I'm saying is warcraft is a step removed from tolkien. Since mostly all if it is coming directly from metzen's ass, the tolkien rules are out the window.
And orcs are niggers.
Dem facial aesthetics
They don't exist, they were literally invented in the Warcraft III expansion (not even the main game). They were not even a different race, just human units (some being reskinned normal elves).
No matter how bad it bombs or if it miraculously does good at the box office, this movie is going to suck. Just by watching the trailers even a tard can figure this out.
RIP that-guy-who-stars-in-vikings-and-acts-fucking-strange's career
>Just by watching the trailers even a tard can figure this out.
Fucking this, why companies bother with movies? A trailer is more than enough to judge movies that are not released yet.
>actually tall enough to play a nelf
Maybe they should bash your retarded head in instead
The funniest part is that actually pasting the guys into the picture didn't take me longer than 10 mins in GIMP.
As a matter of fact the most difficult task was turning the Sheev image, which was cropped just below the waist, into a full-body picture by mashing it up with a pic of him in a different but sufficiently similar outfit.
Though all the TFA trailers were pretty awful.
it would seem so
>nobody gives a flying fuck about WoW anymore
>subscriber numbers so low that Blizz decides to stop releasing them to the public
>from the trailer, movie looks like its shaping up to be one of the most generic medieval action flicks ever
It's going to be pretty bad bro... this movie should have came out about 5 years ago
Some of you humans are OK, don't go to Stormwind tomorrow
>not as bloodthirsty warmongering barbaric dindus leaving the world they destroyed to conquer another
Orcs in warcraft 1 were racist as fuck
>KILL THE PALE SKINS
u shall not pass
Some of you Draenei are OK, don't go to Shattrath tomorrow
>almost commit genocide to another race in draenor
>rape/kill/steal the soul of tons of spacegoat waifus and children
>destroy the planet due to warlock shenanigans
>our planet is dying, we need a new home
Sounds like the refugees coming to Europe.
>genocide the native semites
>rape/kill/steak the soul of tons of semitic waifus and children
>destroy the region due to muslim shenanigans
>our country is dying, we need a new home
NO you see the orcs were.... altered. Transformed by the blood curse of Amon, I mean Mannoroth
Disney are already doing a remake of the son killing father thing with Star Wars everyone will just say they copied star cuks if they did that straight away, use your 12yr old brain please
every single normie knows the movies you have mentioned, they have had a MASSIVE media campaign
only 1 out of 50 of normies even know that this movie exist, and they don't care at all
The part of the game that makes it so accessible is why it will flop. It's generic fantasy setting 500, which is great if you're trying to make a game with an uncomplicated setting that can entice everyone to jump in to play, but as a movie setting, it comes off as vanilla, uninspired, and not compelling in the slightest. I've dumped literal months of my life, as in 30 sets of 24 hours into WoW, and even Warcraft before that, and there is nothing about this movie that makes me want to lay down $8 to sit down and watch it.
It will flop.
Let me let you guys in on a little secret. All of these game movies banking on name appeal will flop because nobody outside of your little nerd community has heard of this shit no matter how all encompassing and popular you think it is.
Shit like this won't sell for another 15 to 20 years because you need multiple generations to reach a critical mass large enough to have the success of something like Transformers.
Now this ends today's lesson.
>All of these game movies banking on name appeal will flop because nobody outside of your little nerd community has heard of this shit no matter how all encompassing and popular you think it is.
Fuck off normalfag.
>this is basically LOTR 2.0
We've already had LotR 2.0 and LotR 3.0. This is LotR 4.0 and based on the previous LotR rip-off, it's most likely succeed financially.
Normies will see this as well as the previous RTS Warcraft players, Heroes of the Storm, WoW players, 40 million Hearthstone players, and the whole Chinese and Korean markets. Expect sequels
all in all, I think this is on Blizzard
if they drop some serious money on advertising, it may do ok, at least enough to think of a sequel
if they, as the jews that they are, hope that people who have never heard about this franchise will hurry up to movie theaters to watch it, it will flop terribly
Except the first 3 movies would be the first war 2nd, Arthas and the scourge
For any videogame movie to succeed today it is going to have to do it strictly on the quality of the film and critical success alone.
Brand recognition by gamers will not help it AT ALL at the box office.
It might help the movie get made but it won't help it succeed. Besides, most gamers are entitled freeloading pirates that will just torrent the movie anyway if they want to see it.
It all comes down to marketing I think, there's an opening in the yearly fantasy movies at the moment, they might be able to continue from where the hobbit left off, although since those movies were generally not liked we'll see.
maybe they can stage a murder at opening night, that tend to at least give some pr for a few months.
All of the clans were supposed to be green. Only mag'har orcs who stayed behind in outland were brown. Orcs in warcraft lore were supposed to be naturally brutal and violent, and there was infighting between them. Thrall was the exception because of his upbringing and medivh's intervention.
What was the twinwolf blade?
Blizzard has always been extremely cagey about releasing actual player numbers.
They even stopped the realm merging because it was a dead giveaway that most realms were dead.
Thank god dungeon/raid finder and integrated boss guides/mods made it so realms didn't actually need communities to function.
1. Orcs surrendered to a demon lord and drank his blood, they became bloodthirsty
2. Orcs genocided some goat people
3. Orcs ran out of goat people and built a portal to human world
4. They invade human world and destroy one of their biggest cities
Except the first sentence you are not only wrong, but also incoherent. If turkish names and orcish names sounds alike it can only go one way. It is not possible that Tolkien inspired the turkish language for obvious reasons and it would be kinda foolish to believe that Tolkien did not take inspiration from the turkish language.
>4. They invade human world and destroy one of their biggest cities
5. Humans run away, unite the seven kingdoms, including the elvish kingdom, dwarf kingdom, and gnome kingdom into one huge alliance.
Fucking hell how hard was it for them to just pay their actors to stand in front of an actual real-life fucking cathedral (there are like a million of them), drape some props around, get like 100 extras together for the crowd and then film it from a non-stupid angle without all the colour correction filters? Jesus Christ.
>Making a video game into a movie
holy fuck, you seriously don't see those mayor flaws?
just take a bit of time and you'll see it...
>How bad will this flop?
critcally it will flop badly for sure so I assume youre talking financially? it may fight to make its budget + advertising back and I dont thik it will but it could at least come close
Gee I wonder who could be behind this post.
"His.... his item level. It's unbelievable!"
>Pic related, not in the movie either.
>What's the point of a Warcraft movie if you aren't going to remain faithfull to Warcraft and its aesthetics?
I agree. They should all have hands the size of an adult woman's upper body and shoulder armor that extends above their heads. And no, I'm not being facetious. I genuinely do Blizzard's art style.
>What's the point of a Warcraft movie if
you aren't going to use any of the characters people give a shit about?
It will be full of that shit. I feel sorry for you amerifriends that are going to watch it in the cinemas because every time a reference appears on screen the blizzdrones will start yelling and clapping.
>shitters yelling for the horde or for the alliance every time a human or orc soldier dies
God, I didn't even think about this
The saddest thing is it will happen
Why do they keep pushing the "Choose Your Side"
You mean choose between a bunch of evil demonically fueled assholes or a group of people fighting back against an invasion
You guys would love Malfurion if he ever makes it to a fucking movie. He's literally king cuck.
>PICK YOUR SIDE
The good guys in blue!
The BADDDD guys in red!
Make sure to change your facebook profile pic to match and show your TRU COLORS
Anybody willing to blow 15 bucks a month on WoW is gonna blow 15 bucks on this. Add that to the 'eleven-year-old boys' demographic and they'll turn a profit.
If Warcraft was affected by things like 'quality' everybody would have stopped playing around Cata. Any Blizzard studios would have caught fire.
Do you think the theater-shooter this time is gonna dress up as Thrall or Varian?
Warcraft 3 movie will be based on Thrall. Because Thrall has agency, and Arthas loses his when he gets frostmourne which means basically frostmourne lets the lich king mind control arthas, and that is always retarded in any storytelling. There is going to have to be very good reasoning for Arthas turning around like that, because mindcontrolling swords are stupid.
