I don't recall any exposition in the movie and good exposition doesn't suck anything out of anything. I'm not talking about spoon feeding Nolan movies, but on some degree, situations have to be explained in order for the plot and actions to progress, otherwise audiences will have to continuously pause and think about wtf just happened. I know I did as I was watching TFA, but it went lightning fast that I just said "ah, fuck it" and stopped caring about the movie right before they attacked that new Death Star (whatever its fucking name is). I dozed off too.

I think the main problem is the lack of setup. There was no emotional moment where Finn thought Poe died. Finn being so certain Poe had died to the extent where he does not recognize his supreme pilot skills seemed stupid to me, so I simply didn't even consider it.
