Try to name a better crime movie
Protip: It's not possible.
Payday 2 was good for a while when they kept it fairly consistent with the Heat aesthetic
Then they went full retard with the DLC, fuck I hate that shit.
De Niro should have gotten away. It was uncharacteristic of him to park in such a stupid spot. I did like the shootout though
>legs literally have no hitbox
I don't know if they've fixed this yet because I stopped playing after the Diamond heist, and Overshill only got worse since then
Game still has a top-tier soundtrack though
Heat wasn't all good but it had the best intertwining atmosphere and archs and themes by the best actors.
AL Capacino: I gotta take my wife's kid to school, modern marriage, amirite?
AL Capacino: Please stop fucking my wife, I'm taking my tv.
Was Mann a cuckold twice as nice? or were these just excuses for Al Capacino to expose his acting talents?
dude italians lmao
wouldn't call it a crime movie. it's great but it's just dude italians lmao.
Ching Pong the white man stole our movie and made it better! Ding Ching Ping Pong!
>The dumb thing was that his choice of parking was literally the cause of his undoing.
I actually liked that bit. It felt cemented in the chance nature of reality. DeNiros character has his entire future changed by something as entirely unforeseeable and minuscule as where he parked. All the best laid plans of mice and men as it were.
DUDE BAWSTON LMAO
DUDE THE IRISH LMAO
Decent flick. Are you seriously saying it's better than Heat though? sick bait faggot
>Unironically liking Infernal Affairs over The Departed
Here's one: Lets rehire the same pikey who fucked us over royally last time, but just teach him a lesson first because we're livid annat... -sides there are no ovva underground boxers in the country left who will take a dive for da money.
calling reddit on the anti-reddit opinion
we like the departed here
reddit poses and like infernal affairs
we discussed this years ago
obvious newfag/shit bait
either way, kill yourself
>he hasn't been inseminated into the /tv/ hivemind collective
is it still the winter break for schoolfags?
CONTROVERSIAL OPINION ALERT
It's my favorite Mann film, anons.
Ronin's fantastic. Not as good as Heat, though.
come on anon, the jargon wasn't THAT egregious
if by "pretty good" you mean "overrated hollywood tripe". I was pretty disappointed, Scott Cooper's last two movies were fantastic
It was the superficial reason for the plot points and the movie, it was like Mann was trying to prove that he was still hip and that he can still kick with his Protégé Nolan, that is just tiring for anyone who knows tech and movies inside out.
On a related note
Anybody else got Heat vibes from what we've seen of Triple 9 so far?
the tech stuff is a bit superficial. the movie feels to me like it's structured out of a million different tiny details surrounding the characters that make up their relationships and shade their interactions, all while pushing forward the plot. it's a pretty masterful demonstration of Mann's ability to develop characters through their actions without actively talking about it or making it the centerpoint of the film. plus, i found it absolutely gorgeous; i love the digital cinematography and his framing is fucking impeccable
Friendly reminder Ant-Man was a heist movie.
he was so meticulous with everything planning all the little details but in the end, he just HAPPENED to park in the view of the cops, his downfall happens because of chance.
The framing was just a ploy to suprise you with the car exploding scene. The cinematography was just a rehashing of Collateral. I didn't see any character traits and everyone's hair was terrible except for Southern Drawl Thor.
The framing, for the entire movie, was a ploy to surprise you in one scene? That's an insipid idea, anon. As for the other stuff, I felt a similar way after my first viewing, but I was compelled to rewatch it by a friend, and I've seen it four or five times since then. Every time it becomes easier for me to be drawn into the world these characters live in, and for the most part, they're surprisingly complex. I recommend revising it.
I'll wait for that friend of mine to compel me, and yes I'm serious with the framing bait he pulled. But as an Australian Surfer/Tech guru myself I can say that the character Thor played was just the average Australian stoical surfer, there is nothing special or unique about them even though they desperately maintain that there is. And everyone else was stereotypical, I don't mind if people like em but it was NCIS tier acting.
It's just a chick flick babe, you must of agreed with my hair comment so you know I got taste.
>Once I had a fortune, it said: "Leave now. Life is short. Time is luck".
>You got assets somewhere? Insurance?
>Things go wrong. The odds catch up. Probability is like gravity: you cannot negotiate with gravity. One day... one day you should just cash out, you know? Just cash out and get out.
>Yeah. As far and as fast as you can.
>Would you find me?
>Yes, I would.
I liked Blackhat a lot but I wouldn't call it a crime film.
>saying this like it's a bad thing
Mann's always been one of the more diverse directors around. He just never makes a big deal of it
Miami Vice TV show: white dude, black dude, Hispanic dude, Hispanic chick, black chick
Not trolling, but I honestly don't get why heat is praised so much.
There are one or two pieces of great dialogue, and the action scenes are really well done. But most of the movie is De Niro drinking wine and flirting with some old bag, it's tedious and corny.
Collateral is the better movie
I didn't say it as a bad thing just a boring thing, when it's all buddy-buddy and the only tension is when someone doesn't help their diverse cause fast enough and makes them use their 'authority' card 'how's that sound?' to help, just makes it cheap.
I won't try to change your opinion and a person's reaction to film is a very personal thing. I love Heat and I enjoy this essay about Heat and think it will illuminate a couple of things for you. http://www.vulture.com/2015/12/how-michael-manns-heat-has-improved-with-age.html
Well Heat is just so epic, I've only seen it once but it really captures the philosophy behind both ways of life, the chaos and the order and sacrifice both make but still they feed off each other and would be lifeless with each other's existence, that diner scene is awesome and Al is really honest and inspiring in a way.
Just to break up the (well-deserved) Mann love-fest a bit.
The more I think about this one the more I realize every one was a goddam retard. Why would you fall in love with someone you just robbed? Why not start your life over then fall in love? RETARD. Why did the sister narc them out, ultimately getting her brother killed? RETARD.
haha fucking lol that movie was fucking hilarious
grr so serious imma turn to kingpin crime king in a nite grr look at me doing my best al pacino and deeze tasteful imdb shots
Fucking comedy goauld mine.
Pretty good movie, can't say it's great but it's close to being a great one. I really need to rewatch it.
>untouched sound editing
The sound of assault rifles being fired between buildings downtown LA is terrifying.
Greatest shootout scene.
